Stuliasz Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Schmeichel 8 - some of the saves in the second half looked sublime. Barnsley dealt with his kicking pretty easily though. Pantsil 5 - way too much got past him and he allowed far too many crosses to come in too easily Konch 6.5 - fairly solid but contributed very little going forward Mills 5 - way too much hoofball, the odd one or two found a target thanks to the pace of Beckford or Vassell but his distribution was atrocious. Reasonable but occasionally caught out positionally. Bamba 5 - needs to remember his primary role as a defender and not leave the other three so exposed. Wellens 4 - ok first half, dismal second. Set pieces were awful too. Danns 5.5 - sees a lot of the ball but always seems to be cornered. As with Wellens, his set pieces were terrible. Fernandes 5.5 - probably the most anonymous I've seen him in a City shirt so far Gallagher 5 - did he touch the ball? Vassell 6.5 - worked the channels pretty well and was one of the few offering some movement Beckford 7 - as Vassell really, offered some pace and movement. Touch was a little ropey at times but if it wasn't for his pace, his assist for the goal never would have happened. King 6.5 - scored and made some driving runs second half but was a bit sloppy with a few of his passes. Best of a really poor midfield though. Pelter/Dyer N/A - not on long enough to mention.

Schmeichel 9 - Even though Barnsley were quiet in the second half, they still had some shots with Kasper making some terrific stops Pantsil 6 - Got caught out of position in first half, second half much improved Bamba 7 - Did what needed to be done, strong and affective Mills 6 - Struggled with Gray, but played some decent long balls Konchesky 6 - Average up and down performance, consistent enough though Wellens 7 - Tenacity in midfield showed again today pretty good Fernandes 7 - Poor first half, closed down in the second and attacked well Danns 7 - Poor first half gave ball away too often, fired up in second half and put in decent shift Gallagher 4 - Piss poor enough said Vassell 6 - Some good pieces of play, but a bit too quiet in my view Beckford 7 - Very poor first half, but very good second half set up goal, raw pace and was dangerous Subs King 8 - Changed the game, scored and created space and attacked to perfection Peltier N/A Dyer N/A

Still needs to work on his passing but some great balls over the top for our forwards to chase, and a key block in 1st half Bamba - 8 - Consistently one of our best performers, great on the ball, in the air, the best CB in the Championship for me. Konchesky - 7 - Did well again, composed on the ball, none of their attacks really came from down the left which is to his credit Wellens - 6 - Ok first half, bloody awful in the second half. Not really himself, mis-placing passes and got pushed off the ball Danns -6 - Offered nothing in 1st half, better second half when he got on the ball. Not his best game Fernandes - 7 - Our best midfielder on show, good in the tackle and showed some desire later on, unlike many others. Gallagher - 5.5 - Didnt get the ball to feet and we all know he's not going to win many in the air, so very un-effective Vassell - 7.5 - Put in a good shift today, didnt tire out today and kept making good runs. Beckford - 7 - Looks promising with the ball at feet running at defenders, didnt get great service, he has a mardy when things dont go his way- but who cares as long as he scores and creates. Sub - King - 8 - Definitely made a difference, should start against Brighton.

Schmeichel - 9 - world class save - best £1mil spent in the summer Paintsil - 6 Mills - 6 Bamba - 7 Konchesky - 6.5 Gallagher - 3 truly awful Danns - 5 Wellens - 5 Fernandes - 6 Vassell - 7 Beckford - 7 King - 7.5 I'm happy to give the team time to gel, but I don't see a great deal of improvement from week to week. I accept teams will raise their game when they play us, but after the first 20 minute onslaught we ought to be able to take control of games, but it is not happening because in most games we are loosing the midfield battle.

Never really looked comfortable and he gave the ball away a bit yeah but everyone on the team could be guilty of that.

He's not bald Posted 10 September 2011 Posted 10 September 2011 Well I was unfortunate enough to be at the match and have just got in after many gruelling miles and pints at many watering holes the way back...here are the results of the Thorpe Astley jury....... Schmeichel 9 - MOTM super display already a legend,could do nothing about the goal and bargain of the season (making his dad proud!) Pantsil 6 - seems to be lacking confidence to me, not the effective player he used to be at Fulham, any opposition manager will surely realize that if you run at him with pace he's ineffective Mills4 - What a waste of money, distribution is poor (and that's being generous) can't seem to even read the game and never where he should have been Bamba 5 - Seems to me that he now thinks he's a "big time charlie" and a" fans favourite" he can get away with less effort...news for you Sol...don't be lazy! Wellens 5 - Poor match, thought I'd seen an improvement last time out but he was poor today at Oakwell and got worse as the match went on! Danns 5 - Flatters to deceive, is doing alot of running around with little end result, seems to me when he has the ball to run into cul-de-sacs every time! Fernandes 4 Who? Gallagher 3 - Worse player on the pitch...a truly awful performance and I don't understand why he's even in the squad...if he starts on Saturday I will stamp really hard! Vassell 7 - Darius ...a true footballer,some class touches and always give 100% even if that's only 90% of what he used to be! Beckford 7 - Only gave a 7 because it's early days...never stopped running and could see the obvious class...he will score goals for us and when paired with Nugent will be scary! King 6 - For the goal only! Sven - Not giving a rating..will keep my thoughts to myself but may well comment in about 4 weeks time!

I'm sure that we'll click into gear soon, we're 8 points off Brighton ATM, win next Saturday and it's down to 5, which if you consider our indifferent start to the season, is not a bad position to be in. Let's get behind the lads next Saturday and start putting our mark on the league. King - 6

Paintsil - 3 - I prefer Peltier Mills - 5 Bamba - 7 - Best defender Konchesky- 4 Gallagher - 2 - Don't rate him at all. Danns - 5 Wellens - 4 - Didn't put a foot on it like usual. Fernandes - 6 Vassell - 6 Beckford - 6 King scored, well done. Other than that, he should have played a player through twice instead of shooting. Wrong decisions constantly as a team, but thats why they play for Leicester City of the Championship and not Manchester United of the Premier League.

Barnsley had obviously identified him as a threat because Drinkwater was constantly marking him. I thought Drinkwater could have even been sent off if the referee would have pulled up his fouls because he was really clattering into Wellens at times.
