Corky Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 To those suggesting that Leicester are this huge club because of fan base. Didn't we get bigger crowds on average last year? Surely given your illustrious history, bringing swathes of glory hunters, and the fact we have barely won a thing, it would be obvious you'd have bigger crowds?

We've been shit for years, no glory hunters here
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 First off, don't start with 'errrm'. It's fvcking annoying. I always thought fanbase was one aspect. FC United of Manchester have a great fanbase, they manage to take 2000+ to away games, but are they a bigger club than the likes of Yeovil? They probably will be in time, but they've not been around for long. They've probably more potential than Yeovil, so yes, in the long run they may well be. Sorry for the erm but your stat was pretty random and incorrect. I'm not really sure what's to like about Derby. They do a lot of talking but really they have very little to be proud of.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 What an utterly terrible post. If they get 'lucky'. Paaaaahahahaha! So what team has won anything without being 'lucky'? We were champions of Europe twice in two years, id like to suggest other factors than 'luck' might have been in play. Because you utter retard, if you'd have had Frank bleeding McClintock instead of Cloughie you'd have never won a thing. Like I said above, if you're such a big club, why doesn't your attendances and history pre and post Clough prove it? Face it, being fortunate enough to stumble upon one the best managers of all time in no way makes you a big club. How many years have you spent in the top division since he retired? 4? Wow. MASSIVE.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Hello again. I mean in terms of winning stuff... Kitchandro posted "anyone can be successful in the short term if they get lucky" which is rubbish. I see this term all the time. A team may scrape a victory in a Cup fixture, and you see games where the better team lose (Sheffield United winning at Villa as an example), but overall 'luck' isn't true. Teams have dominated English football over the years, Huddersfield, Liverpool, Forest etc but it's not down to "luck". It's down to genius managers. Well yeh, but you know what I meant, surely? It's not Nottingham Forest who were a brilliant club, it was Clough who was brilliant. End of story. If he'd have rocked up here instead of there we'd have won at least one league title and you know it.
Kitchandro Posted 11 January 2014 Posted 11 January 2014 Surely given your illustrious history, bringing swathes of glory hunters, and the fact we have barely won a thing, it would be obvious you'd have bigger crowds? It would. Last year there were mitigating factors (being on TV all the while, prices going up insultingly). I know for a fact that in 11/12 and 10/11 we had bigger crowds (home and away I believe) despite them reaching the play-offs in one of those seasons and us being midtable. For a club that's apparently huge they don't half lack the facts to back it up.

Oh in terms of your last paragraph, I don't like Derby at all I just think there are more aspects than fan base, however, as always, it's all opinion. I can't multiple quote because I'm on mobile but yes Clough was a genius and if he managed us, we'd be in Forests' position. Unfortunately for us, he didn't.

You've avoided my question. How many clubs have own honours without simply being 'lucky' enough to stumble across a good manager or 'lucky' to have a owner with cash? I also love the fact in your mind a big attendance is the only factor in determining a big club. Il assuming you think Brighton are the divisions biggest team? To me being a big club is having competed at the highest level and won things, regardless of who was in charge. This idea of Leicester would have been champions if they had Clough is nonsense. You didn't and there is no way to determine whether that would be the case even if you had. Retard? I can guarantee you wouldn't say that to my face tough guy. But without stooping to your level, and the fact I am an away fan here - il leave it at that.

MC Prussian Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I really do not care about other clubs, Leicester are a big club that has rarely lived up to its potential, hopefully the Thai owners can give us the base we need to finally do so, we currently have a good manager and really need to get back into the Prem. Depends on how you define "big" and in what context. I always see Leicester as a somewhat big club that doesn't compare to the really big clubs, the successful ones, the household name ones. At best, I can imagine Leicester playing in the Premier League on a regular basis, but mainly competing in mid-table, with the occasional sniff at an Europa League place. However, that's as far as I'd go. I think we'd have to look elsewhere for silverware, e.g. cup competitions. I can't see us getting on the same level with clubs like the Manchester duo, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. And in all honesty, I don't think we ought to try, anyway. The appealing factor of a club like Leicester is its relatively compact size, unbeknownst to many (especially abroad). I'd stick to the "underdog" tag for as long as possible. It's part of the reason why the club is so attractive to me. Always good for an upset and (hopefully) often very hard to figure out.

Here's my attempt at solving this the arrogant shite do come out on top... http://thechriswhitingshow.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/english-footballs-biggest-clubs-revealed/ Blackburn Rovers bigger than West Ham United... Trophies are irrelevant. It's purely about fanbase.
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Despite their recent languishing in lower leagues, Leeds are surely, historically at least, one of the biggest teams in the country. Blackburn are only in there cos Jack Walker bought them the league. Preston a few places below them, A team that has not had much success in the last 50 years, 50-60 years ago, Leeds were one of the best in Europe if not the world.... They are ATLEAST in the top 8, If not 5.
tartanowl Posted 26 January 2014 Posted 26 January 2014 I can think of 6 new reasons why we are better than Leeds too.
