Holloway won't come back to Leicester not after the death threats that were made to him and his family last time he was here. Its a shame things didn't work out but I really don't blame him for us going down he took over a team in a serious mess. You have only got to see what an amazing job he did at Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool to see the guy is a good manager

Martin O'Neil is the Owners top target, They are offering a VERY LUCRATIVE contract to him. Talks aren't going down well as O'Neil dosent seem that intrested. Other options include: Mick McCarthy, Mark Hughes, Nigel Pearson, Neil Lennon & Carlo Ancelotti.

Neil Lennon???

Are we aiming for the conference?

Apologies if already posted, but i found this on T'internet and thought i'd share it. It is from the Belfast Telegraph!

Martin O'Neill has been linked with a return to his former club Leicester City

Martin O’Neill was last night in line to make an emotional return to Leicester City — 11 years after leaving the club.

Sven-Goran Eriksson’s sacking, just over a year after he took charge of the Foxes, has opened the door for O’Neill to make a return to club management.

Two weeks ago the 59-year-old ruled himself out of the running to be the next Northern Ireland manager, stating that he preferred to bide his time and wait for a return to club management.

Now the opportunity has arisen with a club that O’Neill knows inside out, having spent the most successful period of his career in England with Leicester.

He guided them into the Premier League in 1996 and just a year later they lifted the League Cup, defeating Middlesbrough in a replayed final.

After losing the 1999 decider to Tottenham the Foxes got their hands on the trophy again in 2000 when they beat Tranmere Rovers at Wembley.

O’Neill took the club to an eighth place finish in the Premier League just a few weeks later — which remains their highest finish since 1976.

He left Leicester that summer to join Celtic, where he won three league titles in four seasons.

Gerry Taggart, who was part of that 2000 Carling Cup winning team and was later first-team coach at the club, has been listed by bookmakers as a possible contender for the post.

Taggart is currently assistant manager at Oldham Athletic.

And Nigel Worthington, who quit as Northern Ireland manager earlier this month, may also come into contention. He had a five-game spell as caretaker boss at Leicester in 2007, saving them from relegation to League One.

Yeah I read it. You wrote that Mark Hughes did "quite well" at Blackburn. I would say finishing 10th, 7th and 6th, and getting them to 3 FA Cup Semi-Finals is a superb job. Pretty similar to Martin O'Neill with us, but Martin is a god.

Finished 8th with Fulham, again a great achievement. Without a great manager, that Fulham team would have fallen like a stone as soon as Roy left.

**** it, bring back the days when we were being linked with Megson and Steve Walsh, at least then people weren't acting like we were Barcelona.

O'Neill has had a number of other jobs besides us you know, and bar Norwich, has done exceptionally in all of them. He took Wycombe to two, or was it 3 successive promotions? Handled the pressure at Celtic, took Villa from not far from the relegation places to the top 6 and Cup finals. And where are they now he's left?

Hughes did well at Blackburn, like I said, but he didn't do well at Man City, and OK at Fulham. I know they haven't had a great start but I'll be shocked if they don't finish comfortably midtable this season. He also left after one season - felt his reputation would be harmed if he stayed another? Possibly.

So of course I'd prefer O'Neill, I also think Clark and and Di Matteo are more talented managers and realistic targets.

OK I get it, you think Hughes is a world class manager. There's no need to theow your toys out the pram and act so disgusted at my different opinion though

The way I see it, he did very well with Wales, extremely well with Blackburn, ok at Man City under massive pressure and he did well at Fulham.

I'm just in shock that someone like Hughes isn't considered good enough for us, by a lot of our fans by the sounds of it.

Obviously enough my top choice is Martin O'Neill but even if we don't get him there are some great choices out there for me personally I woundn't mind seeing Mark Hughes or Roberto Di Matteo who I think would be a great choice!!

Hughes didn't do a bad job at Man City,Last season I remember they compared Mark Hughes' season to Mancini's at the same ammount of games played and Mancini only won 1 more than hughes.

Pearson rumours starting on Twitter..

I wouldn't say he's not good enough as such, he just wouldn't be my first choice.

If everyone has their hearts set on MON then whoever we do get is gona be a disappointment. I personally would be happy with Hughes- think he would fit the club quite well.

Found it on a facebook news page, Sounded believable to me

Anyway here is what I know:

1) There is a strange mood around the camp, The players seem shaken up and lost

2) Mike Stowell took First Team training today.

3) All the players seem to be getting on fine, Even players who signed for sven. Everyone is settled in.

Yeah but look how well they're doing now Mancinis got rid of all the deadwood that Hughes brought in

...and that couldn't have anything to do with the extra millions they've spent?

Posted

Please :)

Why? He'd get rid of all our players because he didn't like their attitude just like with Gradel.

And this is coming from someone who thought he did a great job for us and was wrongly pushed out.

He should have stayed at the time but he'd be the wrong man for the job this time around.

Of course I'd be very surprised if there was any truth in this at all.

Plenty of clubs have come up from L1 and got in the play-offs only to then fall back into obscurity while trying to replicate that achievement. Britsol City got beat in the play-off final the season they came up a couple of years ago, look how they've done since. Not saying that would have happened had Pearson still been in, but his last contribution was signing Tom Kennedy. Just don't think that Pearson would have kept it up with the squad we had back then.

Yeh he wasn't exactly the best at selling players,But what he did was remarkable with the players at his disposal,I just love the guy he's a legend.

Nothing to do with the acquisitions of Aguero, Silva,Toure, Milner,Johnson, De Jong, Dzeko, Balotelli, Tevez, Kolorov and Nasri then?

Yes but the money has been spent on a different type of player. There's no way Hughes would have signed players like Silva etc. Not saying I'm totally opposed to the idea of him managing us, just that I completely disagree with the comparisons made between him and Mancini. His big signings were Adebayor and Lescott, compared to Yaya Toure and Aguero etc.
