I have heard good reports of this lad but never seen him play. Also is rosenior any good at attacking ?

Yeah, but we are covered at RB

The problem is not necessarily paced wingers, it's more the jobs the midfield do. If you look at our most successful midfield when we dominated some of the best teams under

Izzet - creative, dangerous and also snapped at the oppositions heels, weighing in with a fair few goals - Andy king could take this role, but we needs to defend better to match izzet.

Guppy - slow, but accurate winger, great with the deadball and dangerous from free kicks - when fit gallagher fits this role perfectly. You don't need pace, just skill.

The idea that King could be the new Izzet is a strange one but not half as strange as believing that Gallagher could ever be the new Guppy.

I dont think king could be the new izzet although i belive gallagher is a similar player to guppt

I hope Beckford get settled soon he's not done anything special since arriving. Come January we will probably bring in another strike anyway but I feel once Waghorn is back and fit Pearson will play him.

Don't think he will NP knows we have some money now also waggy has done his job for us. IMO he will off load him and reinvest the money. Also think he will buy qaulity 2 or 3 and ship out 5 or 6.

He will be looking at going up and starting to sort his squad for nxt season.

He may even ship some out and replace with loan players instead of buying so he has a bigger kitty for the summer.

When it will be clear where we are playing. Just my thoughts anyway.

Beckford needs some service, which has been lacking since he arrived. He also needs to feel idolized by the supporters, though I can't see that happening.

As for Waghorn, lets get rid of him in January.

I agree with this but if plays like he has been doing Pearson will drop him and give someone else a go.

At the Leeds game, a fan got up and shouted Nugent was useless, get him off, should not be playing for us! TBH I was gobsmacked by his comments! Is it me, or does anyone agree with me and think that Nugent is one of the most enthusiastic and passionate players in our team! He chases every ball! PLus pops it in the net quite often!

ALSO, what do you all think, is Beckford just trying to gel, or (like I believe) Sven's tactics were not suited to him, and when him and Nugent start firing, they will undoubtedly be a great strikeforce?

I completely agree.... Nugent and Beckford, with the right supply will be a million times better from the days of Fryatt and Hume . Or Fryatt and anyone for that matter.....

I cant believe we are even mentioning Fryatt and Hume - let it go. No disrespect to them but they are not promotion chasing players.

Head own run through brick walls makes em god for some reason.

And for some as we have had dross for so long they are the best they have seen.

They also won't move on till they have seen quality.

Look back to the summer and how they clung on to the Yak thread and kept askin why we had not gone in for him.

He wanted prem footy and 50k a week Sven had said it wont happen but still it went on.

But to me

Beckford + Nuget + service = A shit load of goals

I fear you may be right about Nugent but wrong about Beckford. His first touch is shocking.

The only way, for me, to get Beckford producing is to get to the byline and provide crosses for him to run onto.

With his back to goal he looks utter garbage

So is down to service the right service or good service. Or play him just behind nugent for the lay off's. :scarf:

Gally is nothing like Guppy, Guppy would run down the wing and skim over a perfectly weighted cross into the box away from the keeper and could take great corners and free kicks, i like Gally but he is in no way that good.

The comparison is different as chalk and cheese.

Guppy had the ability to cross from the byline for attackers to run onto the ball, or was so accurate it usually landed on somebody's head

Gally is nowhere near as good as Guppy was IMO.

Gally for me would be dropped immediately

I think Wellens might be ok. If he has a holding man with him, he can drive forward which he is best at. Wellens isn't a defensive midfielder which is where he has been playing recently. Under Pearson, I cannot recall Wellens ever playing like a holding man, because it isn't his game.

Completely agree about wellens, when he plays a bit higher up he has the creativity to make things happen, Johnson looks like a similar player in that respect, personally if if we play 3 in the middle then id prefer abi holding and Johnsonand wellens.

I agree with most on that we need more width prob one winger, but Dyer and gally can provide that in the short term. An error of sven was to not have width as an option, against certain teams there is no doubt we can destroy teams teams with a diamond, but a lot in the league requires a solid 442.

How's the service going to arrive without wingers and accurate, genuinely attacking full-backs? Anyone seeing Gallagher as ever being able to cross a ball with the pace and precision of Guppy (or Sheehan for that matter) is dreaming. And even if he did, any opposition coach could easily put a stop to it.

Nor do I see Beckford/Nugent as a natural partnership anyway. Which one will hold up the ball? Partnerships form between players who compliment one another but if Beckford can't hold the ball up I'm damned sure Nugent won't be delighted at having to do all the scrapping and chasing down.

Beckford is an individual. He'll likely score some quality goals. But there's no way I see him bringing the best out of others by slipping into a new gear called selflessness. But hope springs eternal.

Gallagher is a good crosser, he's just very slow. I'm not saying he's Guppy nor am I saying he's the winger we are looking for though. We need one with pace who can not only cross but get behind the opposition full backs leaving themself with just a simple pull back to create a goal.

Nugent has been doing the scrapping, holding up and chasing down so far, he brings far more than that, that doesn't mean he has to do just that part. He's been doing pretty much everything on his own up front so far. It's not as complicated or in fact as simple as you are making out, they are both good players so when they both start playing to their best they will work together up front. They will both score goals with the right service and attitude, we don't necessarily need someone to 'scrap' all the while, but Nugent is very capable of holding it up if needs be. I'd like the midfield to take more responsibility and actually create chances though, they don't need a striker to hold it up in every attack.
