Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Yes it is. Blacks/Browns etcc have had to fight(in some cases literally!) to get to be equal to the rest of the community just because of the colour of the skin. Im no historian or bigwig but i know there used to be signs outside pubs in the 60's saying NO BLACKS OR COLOUREDS...no signs ever saying no one with ginger hair or anyone wearing glasses. Blacks in the USA have had to fight generations to get equal rights,ie to sit on the same row as a white man on a bus....Did fat people have that fight? Surely homophobia sits above racism then? I mean....its never been illegal to be black.
Zingari Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 What White Irish or Black Irish??? irish red setters i think
21st Century Fox Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Surely homophobia sits above racism then? I mean....its never been illegal to be black. No just treated as property that didn't even factor into a legal system.
Raj Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Surely homophobia sits above racism then? I mean....its never been illegal to be black. Stop being GAY! Sorry ive been quite serious for too long...... But homophobia should be up there with racism but for whatever reason there seems to be a jokey jokey feel about it. Maybe the macho image of football. You telling me there are no gay footballers out there? They'd be hammered(literally)if they came out. Look at the chants v Brighton at LCFC...all sang witha abit of jokeyjokey....but if there was a gay brighton fan he'd be hurt by it no??? We get offended when Lids sing town full of pakis to us dont we? (Well us Brownies do!) fcuk knows!!
21st Century Fox Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 I would think he's on about using the term black followed by an expletive. I can see where he is coming from, as he mentions people get abused because of their weight, hair colour, need for glasses, spots etc etc. Is calling someone a black c*** any worse than calling someone a fat c***. I'm not saying it's right, but is it any worse? I'm sure there are many people out there who have used terms like the above in the heat of the moment when they probably aren't a racist (and by racist I means someone who prejudice against anyone not white) . They are just using it in the same manner as the other examples. Bit of a dickhead? Most probably. Racist, not necessarily. I agree that if its something thats been used in the heat of the moment, it should be up to the individual target to decide whether he wishes to brush it off and shake hands or not, but the Busquets example is blatant and how anyone can say that that sort of abuse can be rectified with a hand shake after the match is beyond me.

About right there tho. Sometimes we all say things heat of the moment. If the 2 players involved realise it was just that and no malice was intended, fair doos a handshake after and a drink followed by abit of naughtiness and its sorted. But it IS upto the players involved as to the severity and nastiness involved. Did Evra n Suares shake after? Did Ferdi and JT shake?
Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Anyone know any pubs that still enforce those rules?
Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 No just treated as property that didn't even factor into a legal system. You think, I would say in history gays have been treated far worse than blacks....
Babylon Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Blacks in the USA have had to fight generations to get equal rights,ie to sit on the same row as a white man on a bus....Did fat people have that fight? I've seen fat people struggle to get on the bus. Yes it is. So if John Terry had called Ferdinand an "buck toothed ugly c***", that's fine because ugly people have always been able to get on the bus. But if he calls him a ""black buck toothed ugly c***", that's not fine, he's a racist and he should be hung from the rafters. Even though they are both perfectly correct descriptions of the guy? (except the c*** bit, that's debatable).
Babylon Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 You think, I would say in history gays have been treated far worse than blacks.... Are there any Irish black gays out there... I bet they get a lot of shit.
Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Exactly it's a bit ridiculous isn't it? Are there any Irish black gays out there... I bet they get a lot of shit. Shit on Jedward

One brown ugly fat buck toothed simpleton at that......but i CAN get on the bus....so fvck that!! x
Guest MattP Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 Fat guys should be banned from public transport, that's a different argument altogether though.
21st Century Fox Posted 18 November 2011 Posted 18 November 2011 You think, I would say in history gays have been treated far worse than blacks.... How is it a competition, its repugnant either way. If a player dives we're up in arms as its gamesmanship yet, were willing to rationalise racist abuse thats used to provoke a reaction. Would we expect a player go off clapping the crowd if he'd been subjected to monkey chants?
Kitchandro Posted 19 November 2011 Posted 19 November 2011 The thing that's been annoying me about this is this: 10 years ago I was in a minority claiming Sepp Blatter and FIFA were corrupt. I suggested that the World Cup was fixed and everything about them was dodgy. Almost everybody laughed this off as sour grapes for England and Italy's failures. It took until last year for English football fans to jump on the bandwagon. Of course we were all accused of sour grapes then as well, even by some of our own media still. Of course there was no more proof that the world cup decisions were fixed, than there was for world cup matches being fixed, but they were both equally obvious. Since it impacted the country as a whole and the prince was involved, there was a bigger deal made of that. Still not enough of one though, we should have done the right thing and pulled out of FIFA Despite numerous accusations and heavy evidence of conspiring and defrauding over several years, people have still sidestepped condemning him of what he is - a criminal. Now, he makes a slightly controversial comment about racism, and all of a sudden he should resign. And listening to the radio and watching SSN, I noticed a number of people, who confessed to have no interest in football, angrily calling for him to resign. Clearly what he said was stupid and was never going to be tolerated. But I despair at a society that sharpens the pitchforks for a light-hearted comment, yet chooses to ignore something 10 times worse which has been going on for 10 times longer. Some of these people didn't give two shits about his previous crimes as they were seen as minor sporting issues that weren't their business. Of course Sepp Blatter should resign - that's a understatement, he should be overthrown by force and jailed for many years. Not because of this trivial matter we've made a massive deal of, but because he's been cheating football fans, football confederations, players, managers, countries and, crucially, people who bet on the sport. It's organised crime. Another thing is that I can't remember any racism issues in English football for the last 10 years, it's quite obviously the most racially tolerant place in Europe, yet a couple of people make a racist comment (allegedly ) and now we have a racism problem in English football. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.
Finnegan Posted 19 November 2011 Posted 19 November 2011 Am I missing something? Are you quoting someone? As a nine year old you thought FIFA were corrupt and Blatter should resign? As a nine year old I thought Steve Agnew was the height of football and that you couldn't have more fun than Lego.
Narborough_fox Posted 19 November 2011 Posted 19 November 2011 Probably been posted but if not... 'Sepp Blatter's kids defend their father' "He's totally against racism in football", exclaimed Ku, Klux and Klan.
potter3 Posted 20 November 2011 Posted 20 November 2011 Probably been posted but if not... 'Sepp Blatter's kids defend their father' "He's totally against racism in football", exclaimed Ku, Klux and Klan. Actually it's not been posted because it isn't funny, and doesn't even make sense.
Guest MattP Posted 23 November 2011 Posted 23 November 2011 Was thinking about this today and does anyone really think Blatter is a racist considering his track record? I don't think any FIFA president in history has done more for African football?
Jimothy Posted 23 November 2011 Posted 23 November 2011 Was thinking about this today and does anyone really think Blatter is a racist considering his track record? I don't think any FIFA president in history has done more for African football? Nobody thinks he's racist, they just think he's completely clueless on how a person on the receiving end of racist abuse should react to it.
MC Prussian Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 Sepp Blatter intends on staying at the helm of FIFA past 2015: http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/sport/233881-blatter-hints-he-may-stay-on-as-fifa-chief.html He wants to make sure that the organization is "heading in the right direction".
Bugg Posted 22 April 2013 Posted 22 April 2013 So Sepp Blatter's twitter account has been hacked, some funny tweets being posted on it!
