cc_star Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Nice to see that an accomplished performance doesn't mean you're automatically benched once an on paper 'better' player becomes available... Will help motivate the squad, not just a chosen few
cc_star Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Sad to see schlupp missing out, but I suppose the bench needs rotating to keep players involved in the matchday experience
TrentFox Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 Bamba is a much better player than anyone on the pitch. he should be in. Win or lose the last match. I rate Bamba enormously too, at this level. But I think it's an interesting insight into Pearson's leadership. Supposedly, (and I couldn't make the Palace game to concur), the Ledge played well. Dropping him after that says to players that no matter what you do, you cannot dislodge the manager's preferred 11. Keeping a player who plays well sends out a message to the whole squad that if they play well, they keep the shirt. One strategy encourages everyone to try hard, one demotivates...... no matter how much they get paid. Interesting. I know which style would work best for me if I was in the squad.

Fox92 Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 So pleased Nigel has named the same team. Never change an unbeaten team (yeah I'm talking to you Sven)!!
Vlad the Fox Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 I'm on the ferry from Ryde to Portsmouth and there's not many Portsmouth fans. Probably seen more City fans. Portsmouth 1 City 2 (Collymore, Heskey) Are you at the urine drinking stage yet?
Guest Posted 26 November 2011 Posted 26 November 2011 You could really only replace SSL or Mills. Both played well last time so changing it would be unfair. Plus, chopping and changing the team is a sure fire way to failure. Just ask SGE. You should play the best team on the day for the match. If SSL makes a blunder and costs us this game, Pearson's philosophy makes him a dick. Bamba isn't coming back from injury, his form will be the same as before his ban. Best player, divisions about SSL and he should be in.
