Why would anyone with a young family, at the start of a promising managerial career after a successful playing career, kill himself? It's just totally shocking.

Amazed they're playing the Swansea Villa game, there's about half a dozen Welsh players involved.

Get all your money on Swansea to win.

Absolutely terrible news.

A really good player who was just getting it together as Wales manager.

What's more, he seemed like a truly charming man. RIP.

Just heard this terrible news, like others it has really upset me, I always thought he was an honest footballer and he was doing so well with Wales. What a tragedy. Suicide, if indeed it is this, is a terrible killer.

Its so hard to comprehend. I can't take it in really. When I first saw the headline 10 minutes ago, my first thoughts were "is there another Gary Speed, it can't be the football Gary Speed???"

Depression is so scary. Its so so sad that someone takes their own life as a way out of it.

oh man, anybody else having a hard time with this news?

Just shocked... He came across as one of the nice guys of football, he had a cracking career as a player and a bright future as a manager.

It`s strange how the death of someone who you dont really know but have seen many times on the pitch or TV can effect you i the way that it does.

I guess its because we had one thing in common with Gary, a love for the beautiful game...

Swansea vs Villa shouldn't be being played. Players are in tears. Even if it has started call it off now. RIP Gary Speed.

Players were asked and wanted to play, shouldnt go against that.
