Lambert09 Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Thinking about all the names we were linked with in the summer not many of them seem to have started the season very brightly. Cant think of many who I am disappointed that we missed out on. Maynard- Not scoring as freely as he and most Bristol fans would have hoped...had about 2 good games so i've heard. Earnshaw- Not prolific, but tbf didnt expect him to be. Miller/ Derbyshire- HAHAHAHA what a let off there seeming. Routledge- benching for the most part., sure we need him but that goes for any winger out there. Long- Treatment tables best friend- has looked shit hot at times but for 7m you bloody well should. Bikey- Pooooor Yakubu- He has been cracking to be fair, well done! Jelavic- Playing against league 1 standard defenders, opinion is void Kebe- where has your form gone son? Reading fans pull their hair out over this lads inconsistency Who else are people glad we missed out on? Or is there somebody we were linked with who we could have done with ?
Tielemans63 Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Missing out on Pilkington to Norwich was significant.
DB11 Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 What about the ones we did get? They've not all exactly set the league alight.
Dylan Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 What about the ones we did get? They've not all exactly set the league alight. Schmeichel, Peltier and Nugent have been great. Beckford looks like he may have turned a corner. Mills looks decent.
sdb Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 No mention of CMS?! Maynard's done very well since BC changed managers. Top striker.
Lambert09 Posted 28 November 2011 Author Posted 28 November 2011 CMS had a good start but has dropped off a bit recently, cant say im too fussed we missed out on him. I heard the odd rumour about Kenny miller, he has been very good for Cardiff, would rather of got him tbh.
m00nie Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 kinda irrelevant anyway as what they do at another club don't mean the would have done the same here.. different styles, differemt players, different managers etc.. thnk SPL bit more than league 1 standard also to be fair..
Houdini Logic Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Schmeichel, Peltier and Nugent have been great. 3 best players this season so far
Dan Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 Only really pissed off now to have missed out on Routledge/Kebe. Obvious reasons.
thybluefox Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 What about the ones we did get? They've not all exactly set the league alight. Only new player I think that has struggled really now is Danns, the rest have been as good or better than people expected them to be (though the jury is still out on JB)
Lambert09 Posted 29 November 2011 Author Posted 29 November 2011 I think Svens signings were all good, Nigels a lucky man with that squad, if we secure some decent wingers we will easily get into the play-offs IMO
topharry123 Posted 29 November 2011 Posted 29 November 2011 I'm not really disappointed with any of them listed to be honest. The squad that we have now is good enough, and I expect us to push on under Nigel. It seems that the last 2 games have been an improvement based on what I heard on the radio/read on here so think this squad will thrive over the next few months. The only player that I am disappointed about who is not on the list is Robbie Keane. I've seen him a couple of times for the Galaxy and he's still not even close to being past it. Could have really done with a forward like him on our books.
John Matrix Posted 30 November 2011 Posted 30 November 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15935151.stm Bristol City have announced losses of £11.45m for the year ending May 2011. The deficit, which comes after record losses of £11.8m in 2010 and £6.5m in 2009, has been put down to rising player wages and delays in the development of their new stadium. "It is a big problem," chairman Colin Sexstone told BBC Radio Bristol. "It's a lot of money over three years. "Wages in the Championship are far too big and at Bristol City in particular they are just too much." He added: "We've certainly got too many players. Keith Millen [former manager] thought that and I'm sure Derek [McInnes, current manager] does too, and some of them are earning too much." Nearly half of City's first team are out of contract next summer, including striker Nicky Maynard, and Sexstone hinted that several players could be on their way out of Ashton Gate FIRST-TEAM PLAYERS OUT OF CONTRACT IN 2012 Goalkeepers - David James Defenders - Jamie McAllister, Liam Fontaine, Louis Carey Midfielders - Marvin Elliot, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Kalifa Cisse, Lee Johnson Strikers - Nicky Maynard ******

Bert Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 James? No thanks. Kasper Is better as well as a big future ahead.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 1 December 2011 Posted 1 December 2011 Robbie Keane. He would have been a quality addition
bluearmyfox23 Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 James? No thanks. Kasper Is better as well as a big future ahead. No not for starting 11 as. Back up !!
Bugg Posted 2 December 2011 Posted 2 December 2011 Bristol City fans hate James, said he passed it about 2 years ago and only gets in the team cause of his name.
