ScouseFox Posted 8 December 2011 Posted 8 December 2011 I still fucking hate Phil Neville for that, yes that tackle against Romania at Euro 2000. The utter pleb.
Fox92 Posted 8 December 2011 Posted 8 December 2011 Surely no one still says that? who says that? Insane. Not only do Sky Sports make him out to be England's best player, but, most Manchester United 'fans' I know (yes there are alot belive it or not) say he is as good as Messi and Ronaldo. Rooney is always in that top three, but for me, and talking about complete players here, I think it is Messi, Ronaldo and Xavi.
daib0 Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Not just England - in Spain Rooney also has a big reputation, he's thought of by the media as someone special. I don't reckon it's because they really think he compares to Messi, Ronaldo etc., but because of England's footballing history generally.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 He's Englands best player and is world class, but he should not of had a game taken off his ban. The FA are hypocrites.
whoareyaaa Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 He can still change the game no matter what and out of nothing for that simple fact he needs to be in the team. He will always have that ability which all other england strikers lack. Simple as that really. and all you haters need to get off his dick and support the whole team, even if he does lash out or over react sometimes, hes passionate about the game thats all.
Tielemans63 Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 I'm just sick of Wayne Rooney, he carries so much hype yet has barely ever achieved anything on the world stage. We've had players in the past carry the whole nation on their shoulders, that weren't as good as we thought they were but with Rooney it needs to stop. At 17 he had the world at his feet, and as per usual the whole of football predicted him to be the best player in the world. For 2 years he was fearless for club and country and he was worth the superlatives written about him, since then he has done absolutely nothing for his country when it matters. Not a single goal in a tournament since 2004. 2 red cards and plenty of atrocious attitude, Paul Gascoigne and Michael Owen are said by many to have never fulfilled their true potential for England, yet both were our star men in more than one tournament and could be relied upon to stand up for us when it mattered. Wayne Rooney is an embarrassment every time he plays for England when we truly need him. I feel a bit of a twat for saying this as I too got caught up in the Rooney hyperbole years ago and have gone on record to say he's a phenomenon, but i'll hold my hands up. I was wrong, he's actually a shithouse. He's been found out, he's no better than many Premier League journeymen who can score in a good team at domestic and european level but when it get's tough, they go missing. I'd leave him at home, i'd make a scapegoat out of him and hopefully it'll serve as a springboard for others not to follow in his footsteps. It might also make him lose this disgusting attitude he's got and if he knuckles down, then who know's, perhaps he could warrant a place in our squad again. But if that were the case, and he was dropped, he wouldn't do a Beckham or an Owen and knuckle down and try to win his place back with hard graft and professionalism. he's spout his mouth off and lose his temper, and managers like Ferguson and others who sniff his ringpiece would use their power to ridicule the decision. I hope our next England manager has some bollocks, sadly the one man whose lined up for the role is Redknapp whose a window Rooney-licker, so this farce will continue. O'Neill wouldn't tolerate what he's served up for England in the last 5-6 years, he'd tear the coont a new arsehole and send him back to school and banish him from the training pitches. Please for the love of god can we go to Ukraine and play France and Sweden off the park with a dynamic team that's full of passion, heart, skill and intelligence and that cretin get's left on the bench for the whole tournament. And finally, strip him of the nickname Wazza. He's not fit to carry Gazza's hamper and fishing rod that he took with him to see Raoul Moat. Great post. Agree with everything you've said. Wayne Rooney is a liability when it comes to pressure situations. The best players in the world come alive in such situations - WR is often anonymous until he's sent off.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Two-faced FA... or so says Tony Pulis. Pulis backs Dalglish blast at FA on Rooney appeal. Stoke manager Tony Pulis believes Liverpool counterpart Kenny Dalglish was right to raise the Football Association's apparent double standards on disciplinary issues. The Reds boss was unimpressed with the governing body successfully reducing Wayne Rooney's three-match ban - for a red card picked up in Euro 2012 qualifying - by one game. Dalglish, who admitted there was no point trying to appeal Jay Spearing's dismissal at Fulham on Monday, said it set a 'bad example'. The Football Association pointed out their disciplinary procedures covering domestic football were different to those for UEFA. But Pulis said it will have planted seeds of doubt in the minds of many clubs. 'I totally agree with him (Dalglish),' said Pulis. 'It is not as if it was a 50-50 challenge or it was mis-timed, he (Rooney) has actually booted someone from behind. 'It would be interesting to see if a player from an English club actually went and appealed on a similar incident what the FA would have done - I think that is the point Kenny is trying to make. 'I don't think it would have been rescinded. 'I don't think it sets a precedent but it is almost a situation where they (the FA) have worked the system and the system has worked for them.' I have to say I agree.
Guest shearfox Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Rooney is needed by England for sure, but if he doesn't have a clear head when he walks onto the pitch he becomes a massive risk. He is one of the best in the world when everything is going great in his life but completely changes when that isn't the case. So if we see him at his best we do have a chance so it's good he is only out for two games, his worth the risk because he is the only chance we have of actually doing anything next summer.

Matt Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Good, good, We still won't win it, we'll still struggle and we'll still most probably be embarressed. I'm not really the biggest England fan, and I think i've made that clear, well during the football season i'm not, during the close season? I'm all over England, I love a summer tournament (And an excuse for a piss up). Just don't **** around with the normal football season. I'd rather play without the likes of international players (And we have to be one of the teams with the most international players in our team?) than have a boring weekend with no 'proper' football. *I do realise the importance of international friendlies i.e - You can give the players a run out together and try different things and see what works/what doesn't, and I know from a Leicester point of view we have no England internationals but from an England point of view friendlies seem pointless, which is what frustrates me.

I wouldn't question his club career but I would argue that he has underachieved massively in his international career, and it can't all be down to the coaching / tactics. Well done for all of your research though. Although how many of those are great things he's done in an England shirt?

All I'll say is you play with your club through the year, same players every week. On international, you're playing with different players and 3-4 times a year.

kingfox Posted 9 December 2011 Posted 9 December 2011 Im fed up with this Rooney shit like some of you. He kicked out at a player, that is just like headbutting a player which equals to a three match ban, therefore it should of stayed that way.
Bert Posted 10 December 2011 Author Posted 10 December 2011 Yes I agree, but truly great players transcend that don't they? Like Messi? What's he ever really done at a major tournament?
Guest shearfox Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Like Messi? What's he ever really done at a major tournament? Done nothing for Argentina that is for sure
whoareyaaa Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 How about Ronaldo, has he set Portugal on fire! fact is all players will be better at there clubs, so you Messi n Ronaldo bummers need to see some light
Bert Posted 10 December 2011 Author Posted 10 December 2011 Done nothing for Argentina that is for sure Which was pretty much my point.
