Captain... Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Kasper - 7 - First time I've seen a Leicester Keeper save a penalty in a long time, shame we couldn't clear the ball in the following 3 minutes so it actually made a difference. Peltier - 6 - Solid Konchesky - 8 - Awesome, that lad has an engine on him, was always an outlet always trying to take it forward, either carrying it forwards or passing. Mills - 6 - solid but needs to be more vocal as a cpatain Bamba - 7 - I love him, he may be a bit erratic, but he at least attacks crosses and drives forward with the ball, if the midfield was capable of this then maybe he wouldn't need to, worked with Abe dropping back to cover him. Wellens - 1 - Crap, I don't normally slate players but he was negative, slow, shirked responsibility, scared to shoot, moaned at others when he was the worst player. Abe - 7 - Did his best work in our own half, breaking up play and trying to get us going forward, if we play with Abe then we need a more attacking midfielder to partner him Dyer - 6 - Didn't do much wrong but didn't really get in the game Gally - 8 - Most likely source of a goal, love his penalties, was close with his free kicks and much better delivery of crosses Nugent - 6 - Worked hard, very hard, only had one chance which he should have done better with, looked knackered by the end, don't understand why he wasn't subbed Beckford - 7 - Apart from one awful touch looked better today, especially his first touch, not sure about pushing him out wide in the second half. King - 6 - Looked bright when he first came on a few nice touches but then faded Howard and Schlupp no time to make an impact, next time make subs earlier Pearson - 5 - Right starting line-up, looked unbalanced when Dyer was relplaced with King, other subs too late, -1 for cheesey advert with Birch
Syko Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Today was my 2nd game of the season (Bristol at home was my first great game that was..) Anyway... Kasper 7-great penalty save, not much else to do but he clearly shouted for the ball, and didn't come and collect it. Peltier-6 wasn't his day was obviously targeted with cross field balls all day to ipswichs no 27. Mills-5.5 apart from a huge block in the first half, he was poor and i'd expect more passion from the captain. Bamba- 6.5 didn't do much better than Mils but his passion and drive to try and create and be an influence on the game means +1 Konchesky-7 full of running creating chances on the left hand side, needs a winger to support him Abe-1st half-3 2nd half-9 suprised him and wellens came back out at half time they were both very poor. 2nd half looked more like the player he is Wellens- 3 took him until 78th minute to start to care. NOT GOOD ENOUGH TODAY Gallagher-6 good penalty little else to say of but a typical Gallagher performance Dyer-3 If this guy could play football he would be a very dangerous player. Nugent-5 poor service into him but looked like he had one roast potato to many yesterday. Beckford- 5 poor service into him, doesn't seem happy at all, a more expensive, moodier Dyer? Subs King - 6 poor by his standards but the tempo was rasied by his introduction, still not good enough for the player he is Howard and Schlupp- GIVE THEM LONGER NIGEL 5 MINS DOESN' T DO ANYTHING
crafty fox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 anyone who slags beckford off today needs to look at doing something else instead of pretending to know anything about football or be a fan of football and go and spend sometime with the missus shopping instead of gracing the football match. both nugent and beckford got NO service today whatsoever . if anything nugent was poor holding the ball up today and both looked frustrated to say the least. we have gone from looking quite dangerous and building a good team under sven to a clueless outfit who cant even create chances at home. can you honestly say that team today could beat Southampton ???? i hope pearson has some good signings lined up or we will be lamenting another wasted season.

Agree about Beckford, didn't look bad today, but very little service, I disagree about us being clueless though, if it wasn't for the awful start we pretty much controlled the game, but were frustrated by negative tactics, Southampton would actually attack us and not sit on their lead, we would have more space to exploit it, what few breaks we got going on were either cut out by inches or brought back by the ref.

sharpie Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Kasper - 8 good pen save, got passion, wants to win Peltier - 6 some good bits, tries and wants to win Mills - 6.5 im not his biggest fan but better today, didnt give ball away like normal with his crap distribution Bamba - 7 as always couple of scary moments, some great runs, strong in the air and plenty of passion, would do a better job than howard up top last 10 mins Konch - 6.5 ok pretty solid, still unfit walking back into position at times Gally - 5.5 never rated him, did put a couple of really good balls in but no one there, to soft shocking never puts a challege in - get rid dyer - 5 normally rate him, but today didnt take anyone on, needs to take his chance Abe - 6.5 gave ball away to much, full of energy and wants to win wellens - 6 bad attitude, not good enough at this level beckford - 4.5 always thought give him a chance, but doesnt want it, doing a dream job earning thousands and doesnt look bothered nugent - 6 at least he tries but not happening for him subs king 5 howard - past it schlupp - 4 mins, needs longer Pearson - Have we improved since been here, awful today, need to see how we get on after jan when he signed some players, need 6 or 7 players at least, want hungry winners!
Captain... Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 What, even though Weale saved two last season? I meant when I was at the ground.
muzzy1981 Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Good to see Abe come in and perform, hopefully more will get the chance and Nige will find our best 11!
leicesterseddon Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 So, Yuki Abe. When he's out of the team, he's a 'class apart'. He's the metronome, he has distribution, he 'keeps things ticking over' and wins 'vital tackles'. Today, I watched Yuki Abe play football for 90 minutes - and I tell you what, I was distinctly bloody unimpressed. At the minute, as far as I can see, the only thing that's good about him is that he isn't a 'Pearson favourite', and because he's been out of the team for so damn long he seems like a breath of fresh air. But he isn't - and he sums up everything that's been wrong in our midfield for several seasons. No bite, ducks out of tackles, literally cannot head the ball. A good headed goal under Sven a couple of months ago, but he's never won the ball when he's had to fight for it. Doesn't score goals, doesn't create them. The only thing he's good at is passing the ball either a) backwards or b) about ten yards. I'm not saying he's alone in this. King, Wellens, Fernandes are just as bad. The truth is, today our midfield was practically non-existent. World class at getting the ball and passing it a few feet to someone else in a similar position. Very poor at everything else. So Abe gets a 5 from me. Don't believe the hype.
mackiepas Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Konchesky MOTM? Was I watching a different game? Yes
Itsthejoeker Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Doesn't score goals, doesn't create them. The only thing he's good at is passing the ball either a) backwards or b) about ten yards. Probably because he's a defensive midfielder mate
leicesterseddon Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Probably because he's a defensive midfielder mate Oh, that's fine then. Tell you what, let's call him a 'holding player' and give him the ****ing Ballon d'Or. Saw very little defending from him today. He fails to do everything we need in the midfield. Just like all of our other midfielders at the minute.
dannythefox Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Kasper 8 (did well good peno save) Pelts 6.8 (always solid but you can tell he's moved up a league never bombs forward) Mills 6.5 (steady) Bamba 7 (should of cleared for the peno) Konch 7.5 (Good solid performance as most weeks) Abe 7.5 (should start for pompy) Wellens 6 (past it) Gally 6.5 (got us the point) Dyer 6 (never in the game) Nugent 6 (needs the right partner) Beckford 5 (looks like fryatt did when he wanted a move to hull)
Guest BlueBrett Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Kasper - 7 - Really good stop for the pen but I think the communication failure which led to the goal must have been largely his fault. Also threw the ball straight out a couple of times. Absolutely love the guy though. Peltier - 6.5 Pretty solid. Got forward more in the second half Mills - 7 Decent game Bamba - 7.5 Made to look pretty silly when they scored their first but for most of the match he was strong and positive. Konch - 8 Thoroughly decent Gally - 6.5 Couple of decent crosses, typically cool pen but not much else. Dyer - 5 Hardly noticed him. Abe - 8 Good anticipation, positioning and passing. Nice to see him back as a starter. Wellens - 6.5 Not a great deal from Richie today but by no means as shit as people have taken to making out. Beckford - Really? Nugent - 6.5 Looked willing and emotionally involved in the match but little opportunity to show what he can do.

Saw very little defending from him today. He fails to do everything we need in the midfield. Just like all of our other midfielders at the minute. He won the ball many times today and played a few nice balls forward, he was more attacking than Wellens today, and better defensively, he constantly broke up Ipswich attacks and set us going forward. If we are going to play Abe we need some one alongside him who can pick up the ball and run with it, drive forwards with it. He played well today after a shaky start, much better than Wellens and King, but we are in danger of losing out on creativity by playing Abe.

lcfc_forever Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Schmeichel 6 - Good penalty save but culpable in their goal. Distribution was erratic. Peltier 5.5 - OK but not his best game by any means Mills 5.5 - Looked shaky but got better as the game progressed Bamba 6 - A couple of times nearly got us in trouble but at least he tried to get the players and the crowd going with his driving runs Konchesky 6.5 - Pick of the defenders and would have been marked higher had it not been for the penalty error Dyer 4.5 - Drifted inside far too much meaning we lacked width in the first half Wellens 4 - Close between him and Beckford for worst player. Created barely anything and gave the ball away too many times. Thought Abe playing alongside him would free him to play his more natural game but didn't happen Abe 7 - Best player for us, particularly second half where he helped protect the defence well and broke up a number of their attacks. Only criticism would be his final ball where he gave away possession in good areas Gallagher 6.5 - Worked hard and scored a penalty. Put in some good crosses as well Nugent 5 - Tireless effort but nothing seemed to come off for him today Beckford 4.5 - Better in the second half but didn't show much hunger. His movement wasn't great and stuck to the left wing too much in the first half, which betrayed a lack of confidence Subs: King 4.5 - Ineffective Howard N/A A couple of nice flick-ons towards the end Schlupp N/A His turn of pace nearly won us a penalty and was willing to run at the Ipswich defence. Should start in front of Beckford in our next game Couldn't believe some of the earlier marks where some players were getting 7 or 8s - wonder whether they were at the game. It was a poor game and we were good enough to get a draw. Don't think Mills and Bamba works as a centre-half pairing as both like to lead and have their rash moments. Think St Ledger or Tunchev would bring more stability alongside either of them.
marbelladave Posted 26 December 2011 Posted 26 December 2011 Really? So it must have been a different player I saw chase down and stick a foot in on several occasions? I've said this before but Abe is an odd player....... He works hard, hustles and bustles, gets in tackles and wins a fair amount of ball............... Yet despite this he has almost zero effect on the game, he doesn't dominate defensively, he rarely gets involved moving forward, gives the ball away a fair amount, in fact despite prodigious effort he is one of the least effective players I have seen.........
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Are you lot joking? Beckford was good today! 2nd half we played him on the wing, you slag him off all the time but no one was helping him out!!
yag101 Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 I've said this before but Abe is an odd player....... Isn't that his job? To get in tackles and win a fair amount of the ball? He's not the last line of defence, he's there to break up opposition attacks, make interceptions, and lay the ball off to teammates. So other than you saying he gives away the ball a fair amount, it's a pretty positive comment in favour of him really...
ithuriel Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Had a little gander at a Ipswich forum, not a great deal on there about today but Konchesky was rated even though he gave away the penalty and the word useless was mentioned in regard's to our super striker :xmaslaugh: , so those here that do not rate him are'nt alone.
Dan Posted 27 December 2011 Posted 27 December 2011 Schmeichel - 7/10. Saved a penalty but probably has had a part to play in their goal. Peltier - 7/10. Usual self, nothing too spectacular but realiable. Mills - 6/10. Mediocre. I don't expect him to spread the ball like Barcelona, but it really, really fvcks me off when we can break clear if he drills a ball ahead of Dyer, so why does he play it in the air to him on his head? Chance gone. Good defender but his distribution isn't poor, it's his choice of passes, and that's poorer than poor. Bamba - 7/10. One of our most positive players, again, and he's at centre back. It really does say it all. Konchesky - 7/10. Fast becoming one of my faves, good defensively (except allowing wingers to get crosses in which is a weakness IMO) and a fantastic attacker for a full-back. Gallagher - 7/10. One of his better games. Some of his rolling around at times made me face palm but I think they were half sarcastic, even so, where is the urgency? Very well taken penalty, and a couple of lovely crosses. Wellens - 6/10. Not as bad as people say but too quiet for me. Needs dropping. Abe - 7/10. Wasn't outstanding but our best player for me today, read the game very well. Dyer - 4/10. Did he even touch the ball? This is why he'd be my third choice, impact player, you can't have players like that doing nothing. Nugent - 6/10. Same story for the month, worked hard but didn't really get any reward. Beckford - 3/10. Fvcking awful, absolute utter shit. I'm glad I'm not manager because I'd be really, really stuck with him. He's a panic buy, a fvcking embarrassing move by Sven, he's summed up the season, bigged up, promised so much, delivered so little and doesn't seem too concerned. He may have improved of late but today he was embarrassing, absolute shit. You know full-well he'd do well elsewhere, that's the problem. Schlupp in Saturday please. Youngster with something to prove. Subs; Howard - No rating, not enough time, won a header in fairness but it's piss poor that we're resorting to him after spending this kind of money. I'm a fan of his attitude but he's out of his depth at this level now. Schlupp - Wasted. Once again. I'm actually sick of it. King - Absolute crap, again, did he touch the ball? Ref - A fvcking embarrassment, inconsistent and made some basic errors with cards. Pearson - I'm a huge fan, but he's being too stubborn, Wellens, King, Beckford & Gallagher should all be worried really, they've all been tosh lately, and they're getting game time over others who probably deserve more of a go. You'd be absolutely sick if you were Schlupp or Danns, as far as I'm concerned, at the minute Fernandes/Johnson aren't even options, I'm sure they'll leave. On the whole I didn't even leave THAT disappointed, for the first time in a long time I've gone into a game at home to one of these shit sides knowing full-well we'd get a draw at best, which is more disappointing than the games itself, at least before we used to pull off the surprise at times but I can safely say this season's giving 07/08 a run for its money, it's painful and surely cannot get any worse. Fully expect the same on Saturday, another nailed on 1-1 with the same problems. Quote me on it too. So pissed off.
