lovelcfc Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 why dont we play this guy in CM ? When he came down here last season with palace he was brillliant and i remember thinking what a good player he was hes being wasted alright he hasnt played great i can only remember him playing really well against forest and derby but apart from that hes being watsted and lets face it he cant be any worse then wellens atm
kingfox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 My mate says exactly the same thing you say, give him a chance in his natural position. Fact is Dannzy isn't a winger, and when he comes on to play wing he can't help but drift inside which is frustrating to watch. From what we have seen of him this season, he has only looked good in about 2-3 games and the rest of the time he has played he has been piss poor. He deserves a shot, but if he still doesn't perform he will be back-up more than anything.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The answer to this is simple I'm afraid.. When he has played he's looked pish poor. Herein lies the problem IMO... Who does Pearson bring in to replace the suffering midfield? Sven had the same problem.. And he signed him!
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The problem is when he has played he can't control the ball or pass it without giving it away. If he had done the basics well when out of position he may well have had a chance under Sven or Pearson in the middle.

cc_star Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 He has played, he's been utter shit. There's no way this is the same guy we thought we were signing
EnderbyFox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 It's all well and good saying he hasn't performed on the wing, but at the end of the day- his favored position is in the center. I'm sure if Wellens/King were forced out on to the wing they would be just as bad, probably worse. Let's face it, he can't be as bad as what we currently have in CM.
anglodan Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The fact he can't get a run in a very average championship side tells its own story. He can't be convincing in training otherwise he'd have had more matchtime.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 It's all well and good saying he hasn't performed on the wing, but at the end of the day- his favored position is in the center. So playing on the wing means he can no longer pass, control and gets caught on the ball all the time. But none of that would happen if he played in the middle? Come on. He was played tucked in anyway under Sven and not even playing as a proper wide man! I'm sure if Wellens/King were forced out on to the wing they would be just as bad, probably worse. I'm sure they would using your logic of someone playing out of position suddenly means they lose all ability to do the basics of football. Let's face it, he can't be as bad as what we currently have in CM. Well yes he could be actually.
ithuriel Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 He tries hard but he just goes into headless chicken mode and generally over the course of the match does not do enough to justify even replacing Wellens, though just like Wellens he can get the occasional goal. Peeps whine about the midfield but when you actually take a long hard look at it the option's at present are very limited inspite of Sven getting loads in. The only two real :xmaslaugh: playmaker's he had we're Wellens and Johnson. Pure defensive was Ball, Abe, and also able to play in attack Danns, Moussa, fernandes and King. Gally is a cross between an attacking midfielder and a support striker and Dyer a pacey but very lightweight winger.
accessory Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 And then everyone starts screaming about not having any width again. They won't if we're actually winning games for a change. Look how well the formation worked against Derby.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 They won't if we're actually winning games for a change. Look how well the formation worked against Derby. And look of shit it was in most of the other games. If it was working so brilliantly why didn't Sven stick with it?
accessory Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 And look of shit it was in most of the other games. If it was working so brilliantly why didn't Sven stick with it? What other games? Sven kept that line-up for an hour against Birmingham and then was forced to change it through events.. It never played again - wonder why?
seenitall Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 I think this guy is another example of a player who was showing quality at his previous club and can't perform here for whatever reason - something is wrong, possibly in the changing room (sorry Babs but the Wellens day off story suggests something sinister) but it does seem strange that some guys like Beckford, Danns, St ledger, Pantsil, Fernandes and Abe can't get in the team and have all turned crap - only thing more frustrating is when we move them all on and they will become good players again in all liklihood
EnderbyFox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 So playing on the wing means he can no longer pass, control and gets caught on the ball all the time. Yes, because clearly he can't do any of this what are you basing this on? the 40 minutes he had to play as a defensive winger against hull? What about when we played Derby 4-0 and he was a stand out player? Or the first half against Forest where we were dominating for 45 minutes?
Unabomber Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 He has played, he's been utter shit. Yeah, on the wing! He is attacking central midfielder and should be given at least 3 games in his position to show what he can do, before idiots judge him so harshly.
Narborough_fox Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Everyone says about Danns being brilliant against us last year but he really wasn't. All he did was moan at the referee and dive, never rated him.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 What other games? Sven kept that line-up for an hour against Birmingham and then was forced to change it through events.. It never played again - wonder why? And how were we playing against Birmingham with that great team before the sending off? It never played again because successive managers don't believe it's the best team.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 Yes, because clearly he can't do any of this what are you basing this on? I'm basing it on his 10 appearances that I have seen. 5 starting and 5 as sub. Not on one half against forest and one game against Derby.
Babylon Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 sorry Babs but the Wellens day off story suggests something sinister What are you talking about? Players reaching a certain age have for a long time been looked after slightly differently. I see nobody seems to think there is something sinister in the fact Konchesky is also being treated to the odd Monday off from training to give his body a rest? No only bully boy Wellens, who according to some seems to rule the club above the last three managers and two boards.
m00nie Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The fact he can't get a run in a very average championship side tells its own story. He can't be convincing in training otherwise he'd have had more matchtime. do people believe the team gets picked from the training ground.. i dont buy that.. some managers dont even do much at the training ground (mon for example) and leave it to the coaches.. and look at wellens , cant manage 5 days training, are we thinking hes superb in the other 4 days, or just picked anyway.. if hes outstanding in rtaining each week (to get picked each week) why is he doing shit on matchdays..

Maybe he's training too hard.
broughtonblue Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 And then everyone starts screaming about not having any width again. I see where you are coming from, but we just don't seem to have the players needed to play a balanced 'wide' team. We have to make the best of what we have. With Abe in the holding role both our full backs could push on to give us width when we have possession. I would love nothing more than to see quality crosses being placed on the heads of Nugent and beckford, but unfortunately on the evidence I've seen this season it is never going to happen with the current squad. At the minute the policy seems to be 'square pegs will HAVE to fit in round holes' and it isn't working
5waller5 Posted 28 December 2011 Posted 28 December 2011 The basics of the game do differ from position to position .... I can't imagine many right backs playing well at left back .... Whilst central mid to wing may not seem much different it's nearly as big a move. If your game is about quick one-touch pass and go to the front two or to the winger, and suddenyl you are the winger expected to take people on and cross it how can we know if he's any good in the centre?? He didn't get player of the season in a decent team for being crap. For me anything, and i mean absolutely anything, must be worth a try in centre mid right now ... and a player formally player of the season and an ever present the season prior must be worth a run in the side???
