We better win??? As I hate that big day out song!!!

STEVE Cotterill today asked Nottingham Forest fans to maintain their 'excellent' backing at the City Ground tomorrow – when Leicester City's fans could make up almost half of the crowd.

The Foxes are expected to bring more than 8,000 fans when the East Midlands rivals clash in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Reds have so far not sold that many tickets themselves, but do expect to outnumber their rival fans by 2,000 to 3,000 by the time the game kicks-off as home supporters can buy tickets on the day.

But, with so many Leicester fans making the short journey to support Nigel Pearson's side, Reds boss Cotterill wants the Forest faithful to stay right behind their team amid what is likely to be an intense, noisy atmosphere.

"If our fans are as good as they were against Cardiff, we will be okay. They were excellent in that game," said Cotterill.

"For me, that outdid the first game when I came here. Cardiff was the best our home crowd has been.

"They were fantastic then and that is what we need from them.

"They have realised that we, as a club, need their backing. They seem to have realised that there is only one way to go in this situation – and that is to stay positive.

"I have asked them to do that and I am pleased that they have. In turn, the players respond and will perform in a more positive manner.

"We have just been down to Ipswich and there were 1,000 of our fans and 17,000 of their's.

"I don't think the crowd split is going to make a massive difference. But we do need our fans to stay behind us."

Cotterill will include striker Marlon Harewood in the squad, although the fact that he has not played a game in six weeks means he could be short of full match fitness.

"It should be okay with Marlon and his international clearance. He will be available for the weekend," said Cotterill.

"He will be in the squad. As for his match fitness, I would probably say that nobody at the club is match fit to the level I would like them to be – because I have not had a pre-season with them.

"Only at the beginning of next season will I feel that people are up to the pace."

Nottinghamshire Police say they have a "good plan" in place to deal with an estimated 8,000 Leicester City fans travelling to Nottingham on Saturday.

Extra officers have been put on duty for the Foxes' FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Police have asked pubs around the stadium to close after the game to help them escort supporters from the area.

Supt Mark Holland said he did not think the higher number of visiting fans would increase the risk of disorder.

He said: "8,000 is more away fans than, in my experience, we've ever had to deal with.

Designated pubs

"It causes some logistical problems for us, but we've got a good plan in place which we've discussed with the train system and British Transport Police.

"We don't look at risk from the number of people going to a game, we look at the risk around the intelligence we've got.

"That hasn't caused us any problems with the increased ticket sales."

Supt Holland said there were designated pubs for away fans before kick-off but urged the Leicester supporters to head to the ground as soon as it opens at 13:30 GMT.

He added people in the city should be aware that the area around Nottingham train station would be more busy before and after the game.

just been on EMT, police will not allow city fans to drink in anywhere around the ground before the game and the shitty ground will not be serving beer in the away sections, looks like you are all in Time bar until the last possible train.

Aye, people going by train are going to be herded around like sheep allday! With an early march to the ground!

Looks like we'll be stopping as soon as we leave the M1 at J24 then. First pub I see we'll be in it. Then drive to ground, park up and straight in. I dunno, it's like living in the USSR aint it? They'll have more trouble herding us about than if they allowed us free movement. I mean, it's not the 70's is it? I think the days of mass brawling are well over, much better now to mix with the opposition, have a bit of GOOD NATURED banter and a laugh. Bloody Police, haven't got a clue.

Seems a bit daft this drinking ban. Before the 5-1 (sorry) I spent a good deal of time with LCFC fans outside the ground. Some I knew, some I didn't and it was all good natured.

If people are intent on acting like pricks then they will. Stopping the decent majority from enjoying a drink isn't really going to effect that.

So will the meadow lane bar be serving beer??

Duno, you usually get the owner on here saying come to Meadow Lane Sports Bar, but not this time.

Maybe been instructed by Police to stay closed!

Instead, Meadow Lane, the home of Notts County, will open its doors to Leicester fans for pre-match meals and drinks.

Leicester fans can get into the Forest ground from 1.30pm.

Should be the biggest gate at Meadow lane in years! Imagine, 8,000 of us all trying to get served at the same time. Recipe for disaster, any Florist hooligans will know exactly where to find us.

You have to show your ticket on the door of the bar to prove you're an away fan.
