Bamba in Ivory Coast's provisional 25 man squad

We need him, although Pelts has looked relatively solid when called upon at CB this season, i'd rather we get a loan CB in if Bamba does go...

He should go to be honest, if the country calls you should do it.

What so they can lose again and then some of the fans goes round his parents house and trashes it and cause trouble. I dont think he should ever play for then again.

What about George Taft or other academy players? Surely these opportunities are what they thrive on

Taft struggled when he played for Kettering so no chance

Moore played in the centre for the Academy but not sure if he could cut it in that position in the Championship - did ok at RB so just put Pelts in the middle and job sorted

Yep.

A chance to win a major international tournament, a chance to go down in history.

I wouldn't be turning it down.

Oh right well to most normal people family would come first.

Genius letting SSL go - it's almost as if no one knew there was the Africa Cup coming

I think most people thought Bamba wasn't going after that article was published, obviously changed his mind

It's a strange thing to say after the form that the team has been showing, but I reckon we will really miss Bamba. Not only because we are short of centre backs but because I think he's our best.

If he goes its gotta be Tunchev in to replace him. Ok, he wasn't great sat v Palace, but he's proved when on loan there he can still cut it. Start him and Mills on saturday.

Might be good to see how the defence performs without Bambas loping runs into no mans land and occasional lack of awareness. He might struggle to get back in if Mills and Tunchev perform as expected, solidly. Nice to see some fans on here getting behind Mills and I would imagine that SSL will possibly be regretting his haste to leave.

Love seeing some positive stuff though, Nige is good at organising defences and I would bet that once he gets this one in shape, it will be the hardest to beat in the division. Our previous manager showed signs of getting it there and I am sure Nige will too.

Well he is going so either he feels the same as me or what you have read has been exaggerated.

where did you get that from, the story on the OS makes no mention of anything other than the games they miss and who the national sides play

Pantsil "supposedly" had malaria so that is why he wasn't in contention for any of the games, but it is pretty obvious that wasn't the case seeing as he is all fit and ready for the ACON. Not that it matters seeing as Pelts is fit and alright

yeah but African teams have often selected players that don't even have clubs, for all we know he had it, but has recovered enough that the Ghanaian medics think he might be fit enough for the ACON, his selection is only for a provisional squad, he could turn up and they tell him to go home having looked at him closely, LCFC fans need to stop jumping to conclusions on everything

Exactly! Didn't Drogba play for Chelsea whilst having/recovering from Malaria?

so they were saying last season yes

I'm torn.

I would like to see him go, because it will benefit him and his career, and I would also like to see him go, because it will benefit the club and his defensive partners.

Tough call.

so you want him to go :P

Will be interesting to see how we perform at the back now as it will put to the test the theory that his way of playing disrupts the back line.

Another 'theory'.... lol

IMO losing Bamba is a blow, but we'll see
