Simo86 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16425375.stm Bamba named in the provisional 25 man squad which will be cut down to 23 (I think). So more than likely we will be without him for possibly the next 5 or 6 weeks
Narborough_fox Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 He's said he isn't going. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Sol-Bamba-standing-firm-Ivory-Coast-decision/story-14029474-detail/story.html So unless he's changed his mind then I'd expect him to drop out of it.
Happy Fox Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Big loss if he does go, only have Tuchev left as a CB with St Ledger on his way.

He could be one of the two to be dropped before the tournament then. Big loss if he does go, only have Tuchev left as a CB with St Ledger on his way. If he does go, we'll more than likely sign a defender on loan at the very least
oadby_fox723 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Any news on Pantsil/Schlupp going with Ghana? I don't know if Ghana have qualified, or the news that Pantsil has malaria?(can anyone confirm/deny this?) Peltier can go into the middle of defence if needed, but with Pantsil being Ghana captain is he likely to go, so that leaves Liam Moore at right back?

Paintsil is in their provisional squad, Schlupp isn't. Tunch can play cb remember, and the transfer window is open...............
oadby_fox723 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I remember Michael Ball can play at cb aswell, but is he not rumoured to be one of the players to have his contract mutually terminated? So it'll likely be Mills and Tunch to start against Forest in the FA Cup.

Guest MattP Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 He should go to be honest, if the country calls you should do it.
Corky Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I'm torn. I would like to see him go, because it will benefit him and his career, and I would also like to see him go, because it will benefit the club and his defensive partners. Tough call.
StanSP Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Would rather he doesn't go. He's been by far our best centre-back this season. He will be sorely missed, especially vs Southampton and Middlesbrough if he misses those games. How long does ACN last? Also, just reading the article where he said he doesn't want go to - it's clear he has his family's interests at heart. That comes before any club or country debate in my eyes. It's a bad state of affairs when you and your family can't feel safe in your own country.
Leicester Lass Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Pearson says Ivory Coast are taking a 'tough stance' on taking those selected. Peltier can play at CB too.

Guest MattP Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 How the fcuk do they get away with having a tournament in Feb still? Not to mention every two years...
StanSP Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Final is the 12th Feb Cheers. So Bamba could potentially miss, if he goes, all games up until Cardiff at home and Watford away (14th) given travelling time etc... How the fcuk do they get away with having a tournament in Feb still? Not to mention every two years... It'll be next year as well I think to take place in odd-numbered years and as not to clash with World Cup years.

Lambert09 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 I read that Kolo and Yaya werent being allowed to play in the cup game, assume Bamba wont either then.....dont see how this could be good for us in anyway....he wont make the first team will he? Will just come back more unfit
Will1981 Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 we will have to keep St Ledger until Bamba comes back
Ric Flair Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 This makes any falling out with SSL very silly as we could be left with a pairing of Mills and Peltier, with Moore at right back for 6 weeks if we cannot get anyone in. I hate the January transfer market and would rather we focus on loan signings than blow extortionate prices on players. Clubs in this league are taking a hard line with us as we threw bids in left, right and centre in the summer and pissed a lot of them off, it's not going to be easy. Where is Dawson from West Brom at the minute? A Loan deal for him would be superb.

Christoph Posted 5 January 2012 Posted 5 January 2012 Let him go, play really well, and boost his price tag up.

A CB I would like us to get is Chambers from Forest reasonably cheap.

He's played the last 3 games but I wouldn't say he's a regular. They are the only 3 starts he's made in the league after all
