cc_star Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Beckford this, Beckford that give it a rest there are more concerns in the team. He probably wouldnt be half bad if we had a midfield capable of getting the ball down and playing the ball for him to run on to. Also Cardiff are out so if we go through we might actually have a chance of going a little further this year If he was getting them on target, maybe, but the keeper rarely has to work And if there was more to his game then the midfield wouldn't be under such pressure, as it stands opposing defenders get a free reign to provide measured passes to midfielders, who thanks to the time they have can mount serious attacks If we had a forward who put the ball in the net roughly in 1 in 2 to 3 games the rest of the team wouldn't have such a magnifying glass placed upon it
wacky Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I thought a draw was a fair result, they could have been 2 or 3 nil up. Two good save from schmicael kept us in it. Game changed with Wellens & Dyer coming on. Dyer, Beckford & Nugent all having good chances. Tunchev, Danns, Kon were the 3 players that stood out today. The Wellens knockers get off his back as he changed the game for us when he came on. Mills as a captain? Time to change, lack of leadership & overall attitude is poor. Beckford was embarrassing, never at the races as they say. Failed to link into any play & his finishing is worse than dangles, that says something!! Great afternoon out & to out sing forest fans on their own ground was something to be proud off. Well the done to all the fans that were there.
somebum Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Top goal scorer for Everton last season.... Stay off FBM..... 8 goals in 34 games... quality mate. Doesn't say a lot for Everton does it. Let down by poor finishing today. Beckford is useless.
lcfcadam Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Jermaine Beckford makes the London Olympics look like a sound investment. And yes I was at the much, unfortunately for me...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Should have buried them second half. They were ****ing dreadful and you can see why they are so wank. I really think they could go down. First point, Gallagher is abysmal, shocking. Gave the ball away so many times and the miss he had when he smashed it over the bar was terrible. We almost play him just for the off chance he might score a long shot. Wank. And when he went off we looked decent at set pieces for once. Beckford was just lazy and clueless again. And the miss where he leant back and stuck it over the bar was thick and unintelligent. Hope we get rid. One plus is the defence looked decent, though it was against a team who clearly have nothing up front. Be disappointed if we dont win the replay as they are so poor. And Dyer's miss was comical.
GLC Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 People should lay off Beckford, tbh he didn't play awful today, he had moments of quality, unfortunately it was followed by crap
crisp packet Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 5 great chances today....!!! BAD MISSES. Nugent header , he hit bar with one in 1st first half the lob and his header second half ( danns cross) , dyers miss after was shocking also .... Anonymous Gallagher one on one also . Should have won. Thought Danns was class.
purpleronnie Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Bloke said on bbc that he won be attending the replay he has a wall to paint and he'd rather watch it dry.
blueharmie Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Neil damns was super today. Love that guy. Reminded me of Lennon
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 8 goals in 34 games... quality mate. Doesn't say a lot for Everton does it. Let down by poor finishing today. Beckford is useless. Heskey is more prolific.......
ScouseFox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Not a great game. First half shocking but we had two glorious chances but Nugent failed, quite unluckily, to convert either. Second half was more enjoyable, we had most the play. Gally, Nugent and Dyer should all have scored, Beckford had an effort he could've done better with. Frustrating. Danns was great today. Worked well with Pelts, went past people, dangerous deliveries, tracked back well. Mills wasn't even close to being as bad as he has been, no idea why he "sounded" bad. Tunch was rusty early on but worked into it and the defence looked solid second half. Midfield (bar Danns) still looked lost, lightweight and was largely bypassed. Wellens, to his credit, did well when he came on. Up top Nuge was Nuge. Effort, creating but not taking chances. Beckford wasn't as bad as it seems the radio made out, towards the end he looked a threat, first half granted he was poor (so was everyone). One positive is that the replay can't come close to being that boring. In the hat for the next round.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Worst possible result for both teams really. The last thing either team needed was a replay. I'll not be bothering with it I know that much. We've got far too much to worry about than the FA Cup.
RedHux Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Well, that was annoying. but on the upside I have clearance to attend the replay! Not sure if I'm happy about that or not.
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Not been to the game due to having been at work so just browsing through the thread. How did Beckford play? Let me see: A lack of supply? Not 'had time to gel' No support? He has to start scoring soon? We aren't playing to his strengths? Or was he actually ok?
EnderbyFox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Not sure why people are saying Mills' performance was poor, he was definately my MOTM, solid defensively all game and a heroic block after Kasper made a save. Tunch also impressed, he was visibly shakey during the opening 20 or so minutes but once he settled him and Mills were solid Danns had a great work ethic and desire to get at their players which was a nice change. Gally was useless, wimped out of everything and his first touch was awful Have to say, Wellens looked good when he came on and showed that he is prepared to battle for his place. Finally, Dyer

SaM 12 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 does anyone have a video of the poznan? would love to see it
The Padster Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 On train back (finally) so only a quick one. The defence are the only ones to come away with heads held high, midfield = shit, forwards = shit. Atmosphere from the city side = awesome, forest atmos = shit. Feel sorry for Notts County, their bar got trashed. (null)
MattyFromLE Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 So pleased for Tunch. What a display, won EVERY header and so calm on the ball (except from his little wobble early on) First half i think we shaded it at best, Nugent was unlucky, twice. Second half we really should have put them to the sword, how Lloyd Dyer missed that i don't know. Feel bad for Schlupp, hope its not toooooo serious. COYB.
liamsm Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Well your strikers are even worse than ours! Only our 2nd clean sheet since October and with a teenager making his first ever Championship start at LB. Sounds like you should have scored 2nd half but were lucky not to finish with 10 men on the pitch! All to play for in 10 days time! "and with a teenager making his first ever Championship start at LB." I must have got it wrong but i'm sure somebody mentioned it was the F.A. cup not the Championship DERRRRR, oh well what can one expect from somebody who is as thick as 2 short planks (or should that be trees)
vandamman Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Poznan was good fun, even though I don't particularly like it... Fans were amazing, be proud. Although, it didn't look like the players upped their performance as a result of the great atmosphere. The misses were bad but generally I think we played alright, don't know why they are slating the peformance on the radio. Nugent put in another good performance and was unlucky not to score. Wellens put in a good shift too. All in all, our performance didn't merit a win but at least one of those chances should have been tucked away and that would've killed the game.
Karljohn Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Usually sit near the front in SK2 so had a rare opportunity to see us from a different angle today sat in the Upper Tier, and we were woeful at times. Gallagher, King, Beckford and Mills are incredibly poor, Beckford would be dangerous if he could actually control a football, he couldnt strike a match let alone a ball, I am entirely convinced that SGE was the only man on the planet who though Matt MIlls was worth over 1m. And whilst I am frustrated with the showing, lets not forget that we've come up against one of the weakest Forest sides I have ever seen, they were quite frankly pathetic and look every bit relegation material, Cloughie would have done his nut today had he been in charge of that shower! Most enjoyable part of the afternoon was taking a much needed shit at the services on the way back.
