jamfox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I second that I am going to third that.. Was thinking exactly that driving back from the game today. In some ways worse, although lazy Yak was positive and kept his head up.
ramadaone Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Whilst Wellend did better today please remember it was 60 mins ? into the game so the pace of the game was much slower plus we were on top - when he does it for the first 60 mins of a game when the opposition are running around like loonies then I'll be more convinced
MGLCFC Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 But this may be his most effective role now - coming on and playing 35 minutes. I've been disappointed with Wellens this season as it wasn't so long ago he was player of the year. ut he came on tday and made a difference - that's all he can do.
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Very surprised at the negative comments about mills, thought he was excellent today; discipline and attitude still needs sorting but he looked solid.
MGLCFC Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Spot on Milton Keynes Fox - Tunchev was awesome too after a dodgy start.

Couldn't agree more - happy to see him come off the bench and run the show just don't think he has the legs to do it right from the start any more - haven't the management team almost admitted this themselves by letting him miss some of the training sessions ?
Corky Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 The game looked exactly what it was- a match between two average second-tier sides who'd been out of form. The ball was in the air for a long time and both sides had players who struggled to control the ball. The midfields struggled to make an impact understandably with defences mainly on top. Forest had the better of the first half, Schmeichel made a couple of saves but was hardly tested after the break as we took some sort of control, Dyer inexplicably blazing over with the goal at his mercy and Gallagher wasting a chance when put through. We should have enough to win the replay but we need to show more and play the ball on the floor a bit more often.
Kitchandro Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Beckford did mostly put in the effort today. He was just fvcking woeful around the box. Yes our midfield is crap but in no way can the service be blamed for lack of goals today. We had 6 or 7 guilt-edged chances that we should have buried. This is despite being pitiful in the first half and could have been 2 or 3-0 down. We looked like we didn't want it as much as them, which is criminal in front of 8,000 passionate fans. Our defence looked very shaky an they managed to get through the middle a number of times. Tunchev's individual performance was very promising however. I thought Nugent's lob was a good chance but sadly some of our other misses were far worse. Gallagher had a poor game and I couldn't believe he didn't shoot on target from the break in the second half. We improved a lot after the introduction of Wellens and more significantly Dyer. He actually had one of his rare effective performances when he came on but his miss was absolutely astonishing. Sadly for him his blushes couldn't be spared despite the fact he created a few decent chances. He put one right on the penalty spot at the end but Nugent took a touch when he could have buried it first time. There were numerous half chances and decent chances in the second half, our chance conversion is appalling. Beckford is partly to blame today. He had the service. He had one great chance which he blazed over. He had a number of cracking balls over the top tha fell into his path. A striker with his pace and price tag should have got on the end of them gone past the defenders and scored. I think he had 3 of these opportunities and made nothing of any of them. Regardless of whether he jumps headers, dribbles past 3, makes real attempts to tackle, makes simple passes when other players are in better positions or none of the above, he must score these kind of chances. He has been given plenty of game time and he's made very little impact. He's had poor service but he's still missed quite a few very good chances. He's not made the most of the ball in good positions. We bought him for goalscoring and 2 goals in 18 appearances isn't good enough no matter what way you look at it. He's not the only one to blame today, in fact at least 2 players are more liable in front of goal, but it was just another underwhelming display. The sooner we get Sharp in the better. The midfield needs addressing too but with Schlupp out and Beckford not capable of hitting a barn door, there are issues up front as well. Regarding the midfield I still think we need 2 wingers and 2 centre mids, but it's more likely we'll get 1 of each. Abe looked frightened by the occassion today. King on the other hand looked as if he wasn't trying. Pathetic attempts to close down and tackle. We couldn't keep the ball for love nor money in the second half. Kasper great with his hands, poor with his feet. Schlupp's injury is a blow for us and a nightmare for him, if it is his knee he could be out for ages. Forest were terrible and their fans embarrassing as usual. We've got a good chance of winning the replay even with a poor team ourselves, but even if we win it won't make up for the disappointment of today. More than about winning the tie, it was about the specific occassion of 8,000 Leicester fans at the City ground. If we'd have scored it would have been mental. What a shame. That Dyer miss was really unbelievable. How the hell did he do it?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Neil damns was super today. Love that guy. Reminded me of Lennon Was going to let that go but.... behave. Lennon?! Different class to Mr Danns. To the match... When a draw feels like a loss, only consolation being that they looked so poor that there's a very real possibility of them going down! Thought first half we weren't great, defence looked pretty shaky and plenty of our players dishing out rollockings to each other (Tunchev was apologising for about a minute solid when he squared that pass to Mills). Forest probably shaded it but if Nugent could have tucked that lob away we'd have probably battered them second half. Second half we came out and looked a changed side but our finishing was woeful: Dyer and Gallagher most culpable but Beckford also swung a foot at one and Nugent had one pulled back by Dyer that he should have done better with. In fact I can't put Dyer's chance on a par with those others, he had to put that one away. Tunchev grew into the game after a nervy start and was quality second half. Defend Beckford all you like but today was massive for him. You get a chance to come on five minutes into a game that you didn't make the starting eleven for, there are 8,000 fans willing you to bag the winner against their local rivals but again you look distinctly average even in your shining moments.Today wasn't by any means his worst performance but when you pay that much for a player, with the reputation he had before he arrived, you expect better. Speaks volumes that we're chasing other strikers. Hopefully those of you kidding yourselves that he's going to come good will be spared your blushes by a swift exit once we've got others in in January. Bit of a strange atmosphere I thought with so few home fans and the away fans being spread across such an expansive area due to their numbers. The announcer reckoned that there were 18,000 there but he must have been counting players, stewards, mascots and the tea lady. Embarassing support by anyone, let alone a club like Forest with their delusions of grandeur and supposed support. You might use excuses about not caring about Leicester. But we've been to you in times that you weren't doing so badly and it certainly seemed to matter then, as it did when you've scored last minute equalisers against us in the past. The only reason for that attendance today is shameful fickleness. Either way, no matter how good or bad things get for both of us in the future.... we were there the day we filled your ground for you and your city stopped to accomodate our travelling hordes.
Craig Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 We should of wiped the floor of those c**ts in the second half but at home we will do ourselves justice. We should have, Happy Fox. Nice meeting you today.
Happy Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 We should have, Happy Fox. Nice meeting you today. Likewise.

Danny the Fox 95 Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 What are people criticising Mills and Tunch for? Both fantastic today and apart from their shaky starts they looked very comfortable all game. Its not the defence itsthats the problem, its the midfield need a few creative players and Billy Sharp and we'll be moving up the league in no time.

Its not the defence itsthats the problem, its the midfield need a few creative players and Billy Sharp and we'll be moving up the league in no time. Individually I thought they were good but in the first half they got through the middle of the defence quite a few times so they had to be doing something wrong.
accessory Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Forest had a strong first 20 minutes, but after that they were never in it. They must be thanking their lucky stars they sneaked a replay. But for four shockingly unprofessional misses by Nugent (first half) and Gallagher, Beckford and Dyer in the second half, we would have had the win our exceptional turnout deserved. Tunchev was immense, Danns (needless booking apart) gave his best performance in a blue shirt to date and even Mills and Wellens looked pretty decent today. Peltier and Konchesky were pretty solid too. Beckford again was disappointing, but now Sharp's on his way, he'll be shunted onto the sidelines where he belongs.
Kitchandro Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Bloke said on bbc that he won be attending the replay he has a wall to paint and he'd rather watch it dry. Second half wasn't that bad at all tbf, so many chances.
Kitchandro Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Nugent should of scored 1v1 1-0 Gallagher should of scored 1v1 2-0 Koncheskey should of scored that shot 3-0 Dyer should of scored from about 4 yards 4-0 Reid should of scored the 1v1 for florist 4-1 Tudgay should of scored but mills blocked it on the line? 4-2 Game should of been at least 4-2 today Another chance each for Beckford and Nugent.
Aylestone Fox Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 FFS get off Mill's back......stopped us going behind today by throwing himself in front of a goal bound shot and was generally solid with Tunch,...our fans dont half know how to put players down.......piss me off they do.!
Corky Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 We had enough corners in the second half to create even more chances, only one really when Mills got a header straight at Camp (who, fair play, had a bit of banter with our fans). Great to see Walshie in with the supporters too.
SemperEadem Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 I know for years I will look back on this game and think if only we had scored what a sight it would have been in our end, that stand would have come down!
wacky Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 When a draw feels like a loss, only consolation being that they looked so poor that there's a very real possibility of them going down!- freemans wharfer I didn't realise we was that superior today. They could of been 2 up today before the lucozade started taking effect. How can you say they looked poor when we was no better!!! I think it was 2 poor sides today who are no better than mid-table status.
wacky Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 He eats all the pies but Andy Reid is our missing midfielder. If he played for us today we would of won easily. Reads the game so well & his touches/passes are too good for forest. Pearson read this & start spending Tops dosh for this player, you won't have to thank me for this either!!!
AyewJoking Posted 7 January 2012 Posted 7 January 2012 Didnt see the game but not surprised it ended in a draw (both teams are mediocre). When is the draw for the 4th round? If we get a big name that will give us some incentive to finish the job at the KP.
