If you fancy watching a Day in the Members i could get you a ticket Alex, it's normally only an extra $10 to watch it in the members. Also it's highly recommended to go across to the royal at some point during the days play to see a 'show' whilst at the G.

Maastricht (that was meant to say maaaaate but the iPhone had other ideas), that would be awesome! I'm planning to fly back on Saturday 28th (haven't booked my flights yet) so was looking at 26th and 27th. Hit me on Facebook! The Royal - am I right in think this involves women and not much clothing...?

You would be correct about the royal, seediest pub imaginable but worth a look.

Not sure when the visitors tickets will go on sale, not for a while yet i'm guessing and how many they will release for days 1 and 2. But will message you prior and to see if ya still keen and will grab one for you. I'll most likely be going and can show u around the members and some of the memorabilia and the like......oh and have a beer or 12.

Melbourne Victory usually have a home game around day 2,3 or 4 of the test which is across the road from the 'G, so it would be recommended to do the double.

If it's on the 27th I'd be well up for it! I'm not sure when I'm going to get to Melbourne (I'll definitely be there by Boxing Day and I'll definitely be in Perth during the WACA test - in between is up in the air) but I'm going to try and get some football in both Melbourne and Perth.

Random question - when you went to the Ashes in Australia did you do it yourself or use the Barmy Army tour? I'm heading out there this Christmas for the WACA and MCG but doing it myself since I'm stopping in Malaysia to see a friend and I have relatives I can stay with in Perth who's sorting me out with some tickets there but I'm not sure how to go about the MCG. I'm assuming it's not too bad since it's HUGE but I'll only be there for days 1-3 (or 1-2, I can't remember) and would ideally like to go on Boxing Day!

Did it completely independent. Got them off an Australian ticket tout then the one day I couldn't get I bought one off a Chinese guy for $100 outside.

Looking very very comfortable now. Draw for the taking, if they get it it should destroy them as well, probably won't get us all out again on the tour.

103/0 and crusing.

Just watched the highlights (having avoided online updates of the score) and the shot of Compton's Dad when he got the 100 was great.

Listening to test match sofa, enjoying the commentary and the fact that Finn now believes he's a batsman.

He's played a few nice shots!

Saying that, I reckon I could score a few runs on that pitch.

This looks to be heading for a draw already between NZ and England the pitch is lifeless. On a positive i'll be heading there the 3rd day most likely.

They've prepared pitches for a 0-0.

It'll be different when they are over here soon.

Exactly. You'd argue it was a sensible decision by Cook given that drop in pitches tend to improve as games go on (if they have any moisture it's at the start). Plus it's hard to draw any kind of precedent given that the last test match at Eden Park was 7 years ago and even then the pitch was angled corner to corner (unlike the stupidly short boundaries you now get over the bowler's arm).

Isn't MattP out there for this one? It's gonna be a thriller!

I wonder if he was one of the supporters forced to queue up when there were thousands of empty seats on show lol
