Who actually wants to keep mills?

Not missed a game this season Grewks, we may differ on what makes a good centre back, people rightly go on about how Kasper has saved us X amount of points this season, what about the constant points Mills saves us? The blocks, the saving tackles, the covering of others etc, I'll agree his distribution needs work but I don't care, personally I want a defender to defend and Mills does just fine for me.

Poor player, not good enough and can anyone remember a worse captain... May as well make a mouse captain!

It's not his distribution, it's his atrocious defensive awareness, piss poor marking, stupid liability reds, doesn't communicate which is terrible for a CB but unforgivable for supposed captain. I'd feel safer with the aforementioned mouse in the backing.

Only players worth keeping are Kasper, Konch & Nuge everyone else puts a bad shift in more often than not, doesn't play with the required intensity, doesn't have the desire to receive the ball & doesn't have WINNER tatood on their bollocks.

Fvck 'em all except Kasper, Konch, Nuge & anyone under 21!

A note on Mills' distribution, yes at times it can be dire- but i'd hazard a guess at saying he has got more assists than the majority of our midfield has this season.

This thread is stupid, and just really goes to show how many twats there are on this forum.

Haha I know, I remember this one time, a twat on this forum claimed that kermorgant was decent! ;)

By replying with a sarcastic post you are adding nothing to the debate and therefore wasting everybodys time, fail of a post.

As opposed to that insightful gem which has enriched everyone's life,

That was also sarcasm, if you read hard enough between the lines you can determine my true feelings and they can be expressed much more succinctly with one line of sarcasm than by 10 lines of rational debate. So I will stick to the flippancy thank you very much.

Ok, well I think all of the players mentioned are and will be good enough for us, in this league anyway. Beckford, as I have said before has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks. Danns was used very little early on and largely out of position when he was. Lately, in the main, he has looked much better (unsurprisingly when used in the middle). Mills has had a shaky start without a doubt, but again, recently and alongside SSL has begun to look the part. He hasn't as yet lived up to his (inflated) price tag but I believe with a bit of faith and a run in the side with a settled defensive partner he will prove to be more than good enough for this level. He needs to work on his discipline and his decision making but has the makings of a good centre back.

Fair enough...

Let's pick at what you've said....

1. Beckford... A supposed 'Premier League' striker. Why on earth has it taken him up until the last few games to 'come on leaps and bounds'?

Why couldn't a striker of his 'class' begin scoring goals and 'putting in the effort' after a couple of games of signing for us?

Billy Sharp has been at the Saints for what? Two/ three weeks and is already scoring for them.. No 'time to gel' needed or a 'settling in' period.. Just a confident striker immediately having an impact.

And, again, do you really believe that three goals all season is going to take us anywhere?

2. Danns has got better, is now in his right position so I agree with you.

3. In Mills, I thought we were getting essentially a 'finished article' at this level. A commanding, assured, composed centre back who was going to lead us to success. You state, he needs to work on his decision making and 'we have the makings of a good centre back'...

We didn't want 'the MAKINGS of a good centre back'! For Christ' sake, we wanted 'a good centre back'. For five million quid we didn't want someone who was going to become good, we wanted someone who WAS good.

We had 'the makings of a good centre back in Hobbs, who we let go for peanuts and is now amongst the tightest back four in the division.

I am amazed at your satisfaction of mediocrity, particularly given the money Sven spent on these players.

We should have got quality, not something or someone that might become quality.

Pearson has done this with Drinky, at a fraction of the cost..

I can't make it clearer than this, if you don't get it then fair enough.

And could his mum tinkle the ivories ? Something else i tell you !

Thinking about it.............she'd probably have made a better centre half than him tbh !!

Am i right Col ???

If you went to the watford game then how can you say he defends well, for their third goal he ran out of defence when morgan and konchesky were in position, i have never seen defending as bad as that before. He cannot beat players over six foot in the air, e.g. gestede and Iwelumo. I expect a low level of distribution from one CB's afterall we have S.t Ledger for the good passing, but he in my opinion is not better than morgan or Bamba who cost a quarter of his pricetag.

Well 1st of all lets get one thing straight, Mills didn't agree the fee, secondly, yes, he gets beaten in the air at times, I recall Vidic getting beaten in the air by Wright-Phillips a few years back!? Generally he does well in that department, and he did run out for their third but if his line would've followed the lino would've had his flag up! I've been a centre back for a few years, do you play Grewks?

His attitude all season has made clear the fact that he does not want to be here. The watford game for me was the last straw, no appreciation towards the fans before or after the game, and with the quality of defending we have seen from his this season, im sure he would not be strong enough for league two. He is an absolute donkey, he does not care about this club - get rid nige.

I would take any defeat from our boys as long as they cared, on the way back from watford we say nugent in his range rover on the motor way and in mcdonalds and he looked real depressed. five minutes later danns and delfouneso walked in, you could tell from Danns's voice that he was down about the defeat, he even apologised for losing the ball in the lead up to their third, these are the sort of players we need at this club.

Agree 100%

I've had it with Mills too, however the final straw for me was Brighton. After another distinctly average performance in the centre of defence he heads up front for the last 5 minutes, the final whistle blows and, despite being on the edge of the area on the far side of the pitch to the tunnel, he trudges off without a second thought of sticking about to show some appreciation to those of us that had travelled miles, paid money, stood in the rain, risked going all of that way knowing the conditions on the drive back might not be the best, to see us lose in the final minute. He'd just about reached the tunnel where he ran into Pearson who was heading the opposite direction back on to the pitch and who told him to swivel. After a token clap at the away end he was still our first player off the pitch. The captain.

Many of you are missing a major point here. It's not about performances, the assumption that a lot of you are making that it is, however, is just further evidence of the fact that he has been terrible. The point is that his attitude stinks and if his performances added with this are not of at least an average standard then what warrants his place in the team? The fact that he was promised the captaincy at the start of the season when no-one knew how poor he would be?!

We all want someone who cares and matches it in equal measure with performance. See how highly we all rate Schmeichel and the praise we give Nugent. Both clearly care, give their all and win, lose or draw, and will treat the fans as more than just objects there to see a game of football. Why is this guy captain? In what sense does he show any leadership? Not by example because he's made numerous stupid decisions. Not by playing in a manner that commands the respect of his colleagues. Not in the way he conducts himself outside of 90 minutes of playing because he seems to care not one iota.

Everyone thought St Ledger's outburst was wrong (me included) but, looking back, after how well he's done during his spell in the side, can you blame him for being irked that this liability who has cost us numerous points over the course of this season gets in the team ahead of him? Particularly when he's no doubt seen him on a daily basis on the training pitch and looked at him and thought "this guy's no better than me".

Rightly or wrongly you'll achieve cult hero status at this club if you give your all week in week out, see Benjamin, see Hume, see Dickov, see Savage. We're not asking for a lot, a little effort, a little desire. And okay we're never going to get a team of fist-pumping, heart-on-the-sleeve warriors but if you're not going to bring this commitment to the table at least bring a little consistency, a little sense, a little class. Mr Mills you got any of this? Didn't think so.

Get that armband off him, cut our losses, sell the buffoon.

If Pearson doesn't think he's good enough for a place or the armband he wouldn't give in to 'politics'. Nige was an old school centre back himself and if he's sticking by Mills who are any of us to question that!? We pay our money, we go through pain and we see our players (not just Mills) leave the pitch without a glance at us but that doesn't give us the right to be calling for players to be sold! This whole thing makes me giggle, I'm off to bed to dream about us stuffing Norwich 4-3, Mills with the winner, of course.
