Who actually wants to keep mills?

Mills is excellent at this level. Think the price tag and immediate captaincy has been a little too much for him. He'll be quality next season.

He's inconsistent like Hobbs was when we got him. Bare with me as I know Hobbs is younger and cheaper... I think a lot of the inconsistency is down to the coaching they've had and just not gelling yet. Look at Hobbs now, NP and team will do the same with Mills. He is good player, saw him a lot at Reading and my Reading season ticket holder friends were gutted we got him (but laughing at the price - should have been £2m) .

Anyway, in summary, I think he will come good with some coaching from NP. He's got years to grow and is a very instinctive, rather than organized (like SSL who is a stereotypical CB) . He just needs to learn the art of organization now, which I have now doubt NP will give him and he will learn (or he'll be gone).

This is the best article on Foxes Talk ever, you my friend are now a legend, for an article to get so many comments as well you should be proud of yourself.

Mills is one if not the most overrated player I have seen in the Championship, some games this season I have absolutely hated him. I hate him as a captain of this football club, and I hate the way he plays. Reading fans didn't like him that much, and now if they see the way we talk about it, they will be like I told you so and will also be laughing at us.

Matt Mills is a waste of money, and he lacks commitment to this club. He isn't captain material, he isn't first team material and he certaintly isn't Premier League material. The funny thing is most fans thought this signing was going to be incredible, the signing of the season, the new Steve Walsh. Now we have him, fans are slating him left right and centre, and are beginning to see why the Reading fans didn't like him. From the Real Madrid game and the Rotherham game, I had a incline that Mills would be absolutely pathetic. His back pass against Madrid was awful, his defending at times not much better, and he was messy against Rotherham aswell.

He has played very well on tv though, something Reading fans also said, apart from Birmingham all our other televised matches, Matt Mills has played a blinder in. When it comes to a normal 3.00pm game though, we see a different side to him, a much worse side and a much worse game from him. He can't pass a ball out of defence, and he just likes to get the ball and hoof it. If he keeps doing that we will never win games, his body language at times this season has also sucked, especially in one game can't remember which one, but towards the end of the game, he was getting absolutely skinned and he looked like he wasn't bothered, you could tell a mile away that he couldn't be bothered, and that really was the final straw for him, it really made me disappointed and angry, to see our captain looking uninterested then blaming mistakes on other players instead of himself.

I would love Kasper to have the armband, he shows commitment and passion week in week out, he is a fantastic goalkeeper and a fantastic individual overall.

I would like to see Mills dropped, and stay dropped until he bucks up his ideas, if Morgan or Bamba can perform well with St Ledger, I would more than happily watch them do the job instead of Mills.

Finally, I doubt it will happen but I would love to see Matt Mills sold off in the summmer.

Svenism - Mills is alright - we are having poor season, I think he defends well, he's from Leicester and we should give players more of a chance - we have had some good defensive runs with him in the team this year - defence really isn't our problem - midfield is very weak - stop being so dramatic - as for seeing him dropped until he's bucked up his ideas, what twattery is this? Nige picks the team and he picks Mills - if he doesn't know a good defender from a poor one then we really are screwed

I'd keep him all day long but he's not the captain for me as he's not a 'nailed on' starter.

This. Kasper the only one who is worthy of the armband for me - would want mills in the squad though, he would probably be better if able to concentrate on his game without the armband

People are entitled to their opinions, I really don't like Mills, I can't stand watching him play, he absolutely grates and annoys me. The fact is with his passing and his hoofing, people are saying the midfield don't help him out, but when St Ledger has the ball he is more than capable of passing the ball out of defence, and finding players, he has done it many times this season, and that sort of play puts a smile on my face. Mills however sometimes doesn't look for options, he just gets it and hoofs it, leading to a rubbish pass, a throw in to the opposition or a pure gift to one of the opposition players.

St Ledger though has much better qualities than Mills, and can do much better. His passing is very good, he finds players, he doesn't hoof it as often as Mills sometimes he doesn't hoof it at all, he can head a ball well, even his headers find our players.

St Ledger Positives - Can pass a ball out of defence and find players, he likes to drive forward more often, he can head a ball very well, he has a decent footballing brain, he can defend and block balls well.

St Ledger Negatives - Sometimes has a few lapses of concentration, sometimes struggles against the more physical strikers in this league.

Mills Positives - He defends and blocks well, and likes to put his body on the line.

Mills Negatives - Distribution poor, can't pass a ball out of defence, too much hoof ball, goes in for rash challenges, lacks commitment and passion, not captain material.

Im sorry but I just dislike Mills, I think he is an incredibly poor player and an overrated waste of space.

Gotta keep him , even if not first choice on the team sheet!!

What is the point in keeping a player who imo is our 4th best Cb, behind bamba St Ledger and morgan, and who also is likely to earn the wage of these 3 put together? Will he even want to stay?

He's going to feel a bit shitty after having just sat on the bench for arguably our best result this season, with Morgan and St Ledger bossing it at the back.

Not wading through this lot, but the answer from me is yes. Keep him.

I agree although when he is interviewed he seems very dour - I think he's still raw about the criticism he got from City fans after a less than impressive start to his LCFC career. Time to move on mate, people aren't going to cheer you when you pick up stupid red cards that cost the side points.

Many reasons to keep him:

1 - we paid somewhere between £3-5M for him - selling him any time soon would represent a loss

2 - he is still young (25) - with high potential of improving

3 - Despite some people's opinions he is actually a good player - ability to score from set pieces, generally good in the air.

4 - Despite some people moaning about his distribution, he actually makes quite a few good passes. Assist for Dyer vs barnsley, assist for Nugent vs Soton

p.s I don't know where people are getting these ideas that he isn't passionate about the club - all I've ever seen is badge kissing, applauding, passionate celebrations, determined performances, last ditch tackles and blocks, ballsy program notes and newspaper interviews. I think he very much feels the need to prove himself.

Did no-one else see his interview on "east midlands today" yesterday teamtime. I thought he did himself and the club proud. He came across like he really wants to be here and has basically said if he doesnt help the club achieve promotion during his time here, he has failed and will be very disappointed. He seemed committed and up for it. I want him to stay!

I'd keep him. He's not as bad as some think.

What I like about today is that he has been dropped following a very poor performance according to those there. Fair enough

It is something we haven't done enough.I have seen some very poor performances this season and am staggered to discover they are playing next game.

I think virtually all of our players are capable of good games, but everyone must earn the right to be selected.

Mills is your next scapegoat then eh lads? Bored of giving Wellens all the shit?

****ing Leicester fans.

Obviously if a player plays terribly your going to complain, the fans pay to watch, and have a right to complain if people don't try.

Not trying to take anything away from Morgan today but his woefilul, lofted ball forward started their attack which lesd to the penalty. Had that been Mills he'd have been slated and given a 5 in ratings by everybody. Seems to me because he cost 3-4 million people pick the smallest faults out as they see it as a waste. Not his fault what was paid for him.

This guy took FIVE YEARS to settle at City. Mills has had a matter of months.

New players are either seen as deities after 2 OK games (Drinkwater, Bamba, Waghorn) or hated forever (or perhaps for years anyway) - that first game in City shirt generally breaks or makes you, especially if it is at home. Willis, Prior, Walsh, Savage and even Heskey are all players who had to overcome massive hatred when they started out for us and then managed to turn it around - Mills, Beckford, Danns will be the same it seems although SSL, who was generally stropping about and also pretty woeful when he started for us, seems to have done it already, though he doesn't seem particularly any better than Mills to me.

Now Morgan is a God, as are Danny D and Marshall - joining the only 2 other untouchables, Kasper and Nugent. WE usually like our players more after they leave us and go on to other sides than when they are here - they must be well puzzled when they return to Leicester and get rapturous applause bordering on the puke making!
