speedwayson Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 i seen mills on tv he sounded good talked the talk i still think he is a waste of money i see nudge and pelz are falling out on twiter great start to the weekend player falling out the team not pulling together time pearson went trough with a ****ing very very big stick whip all into shape and those that dont want to play for leicester then f*uck em off we have got to get a soilded team pulling together. If you look at the team that peareso left they played well together you needed a few more in and whould have been a great team he left team went to pot hes come back to a bag of rusty old bolts even sir harry would strugle to save this lot
Simmo86 Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 The serious point made by the OP is being dismissed in favour of sarcasm, again by the usual suspects... I agree... Compared to pre season expectation, Mills has been very very average. He still appears nervy, his distribution is dire. SSL looks a far more accomplished centre back. I'd drop Mills at present quick as a flash in favour of Morgan. Morgans will be worse
crisp packet Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 I do. Unbelievable thread!!! Not even going to read it ....
Jace Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 I would keep Mills. Its no wonder some of the players look demotivated and pissed off when every week 1 of them becomes the new scapegoat
Zingari Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 Goats, pentagrams, virgins, the lot, we need to sacrifice him to the dark lord to get a result tomorrow, the worrying thing is if we sacrifice Mills for this match and win, who do we sacrifice for the quarter final? Dark satanic Mills
The Fox and The Crow Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 It'd be interesting to see what a few games on the bench might do for him. I think there are occasions when he's looked good, but these are in the minority and as others have pointed out, his transfer fee has done him no favours. He's capable of producing much better, but we've been waiting a long time now for him to do so in a consistent manner and I can understand the frustration. I also think Guesty's point about the midfield is a fair one. Not picking out specific players, just the midfield as a whole does not always provide the cover or tracking necessary and often the opposition attack seems to come through too quickly. That's not to say that it is ENTIRELY the fault of the midfield, just that they've arguably made the defence look worse than it is at times this season.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 If we had signed him for 500k Instead or 5 mIl, hed have been a revelation. Not his fault he cost that much players prices have inflated in recent years. Hes a very good defender. His distribution has been ok? Can anyone remember watching wayne brown ? Hobbs ? Morrison? There distribution was crap but because they didnt sign for 5 mil they didnt get slaughtered!
dannythefox Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 I know Mills has cost us a few stupid goals this season but he's a good player he doesn't get much help when we just let players walk through our midfield he will only get better under Pearson.

As for this thread it's a load of rubbish, Mills hasn't got off to the greatest of starts but the levels some posters on here are sinking to is ridiculous. Win today and a good performance from Mills and a lot of people will be kissing his arse.
Burmesefox Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 It isnt Mills fault what someone paid for him.# Mills is a decent player. Mills didnt cost 5 million - that was paper talk. reading confirmed the fee was no whgere near that amount! The OP is talking rubbish.

Other than that I don't think he's been that bad at all. Not his fault we spent a lot of money on him
Callabinho Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 I would Keep him, but I would also drop him for Morgan.
LCFC BEAST Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 If we're going to refer his temperament to Rooney's, than surely you can see it like this; when Vidic came to United he was shit and useless then after his first season he's been ever present as possibly the league's best defender
Corky Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 another example of selective reading, he didnt eat at mcdonalds, he used the loo. Most toilets are for customers only. That's poor.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 If nugget lives on big macs and scores goals like he did at Watford then make it LARGE re mills at Watford, very poor on the first half, but when Morgan came on we looked much better at the back. So is that the new shape. I do recall that when Mills was suspend we had major issue with SSL who look comfortable at RB but did push up rather a lot and could be the reason we conceded the 3rd. Maybe Mills should carry the ball, his long passing is hit and miss, maybe no-one is dropping back from midfield wanting the ball. All I can say is the more I see us play the more confused I get.
darko2k7 Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 His attitude all season has made clear the fact that he does not want to be here. The watford game for me was the last straw, no appreciation towards the fans before or after the game, and with the quality of defending we have seen from his this season, im sure he would not be strong enough for league two. He is an absolute donkey, he does not care about this club - get rid nige. I would take any defeat from our boys as long as they cared, on the way back from watford we say nugent in his range rover on the motor way and in mcdonalds and he looked real depressed. five minutes later danns and delfouneso walked in, you could tell from Danns's voice that he was down about the defeat, he even apologised for losing the ball in the lead up to their third, these are the sort of players we need at this club. What a stupid example of a quality we should look for in a player , that they looked down in Mcdonalds how do you know Mills was not just as down . And to say Mills never looks bothered maybe is true but neither do most of the other other players. So that begs the question why you are singling Mills out ?. Is it his big price tag maybe ? If he would of cost say 2m would you be so critical or so highly expectant of his level of performance?. What about SSL recent attitude ? Has he show him self to be committed to the club ? No he was ready to walk last month but beacuse he his performing well on the pitch this is now all forgotten , Just like it was with Mills when he played well at soton , suddenly he was the greatest and beacuse he tapped the badge when he scored he was showing commitment to the club .
gazfox9 Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 Can't be arsed to trawl through 8 pages to see whats been said. Here's my tuppense worth. We're a better side defensively when Mills is in the side. He's the best 'defender' we have at the club (in terms of last ditch tackles and blocks-old fashioned defending). People on here are slating him for his distribution-which is very poor at times agreed, however watch the game and you'll soon realise a short pass is rarely available to him- bar when Drinkwater's playing. People are also slating him as he's not living up to his price tag, something he had no bearing on-blame Sven/the board for that one. Take Mills outta the side and I think you'll see were better off with him in there.

If you watch the video highlights of the game on the BBC website and when the final whistle goes, watch Mills' reaction when the Watford player offers his hand. It certainly isnt that of someone who doesnt care. It seems that Mills gets singled out because of his distribution as every other aspect of his game is fine. When he's not in the side we dont look particularly sharp at the back so god yes I want him to stay. Personally I think a partnership of him and Morgan would be excellent and completely set up for a 'Pearson' style of defence. Remember Brown and Hobbs? Neither could pass for shit and the amount of hoof that Wayne Brown had would put Black Beauty to shame (uurrgghh), but that pairing were successful because all they were required to do was defend and nothing else.
body102 Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 Agree 100% I've had it with Mills too, however the final straw for me was Brighton. After another distinctly average performance in the centre of defence he heads up front for the last 5 minutes, the final whistle blows and, despite being on the edge of the area on the far side of the pitch to the tunnel, he trudges off without a second thought of sticking about to show some appreciation to those of us that had travelled miles, paid money, stood in the rain, risked going all of that way knowing the conditions on the drive back might not be the best, to see us lose in the final minute. He'd just about reached the tunnel where he ran into Pearson who was heading the opposite direction back on to the pitch and who told him to swivel. After a token clap at the away end he was still our first player off the pitch. The captain. Many of you are missing a major point here. It's not about performances, the assumption that a lot of you are making that it is, however, is just further evidence of the fact that he has been terrible. The point is that his attitude stinks and if his performances added with this are not of at least an average standard then what warrants his place in the team? The fact that he was promised the captaincy at the start of the season when no-one knew how poor he would be?! We all want someone who cares and matches it in equal measure with performance. See how highly we all rate Schmeichel and the praise we give Nugent. Both clearly care, give their all and win, lose or draw, and will treat the fans as more than just objects there to see a game of football. Why is this guy captain? In what sense does he show any leadership? Not by example because he's made numerous stupid decisions. Not by playing in a manner that commands the respect of his colleagues. Not in the way he conducts himself outside of 90 minutes of playing because he seems to care not one iota. Everyone thought St Ledger's outburst was wrong (me included) but, looking back, after how well he's done during his spell in the side, can you blame him for being irked that this liability who has cost us numerous points over the course of this season gets in the team ahead of him? Particularly when he's no doubt seen him on a daily basis on the training pitch and looked at him and thought "this guy's no better than me". Rightly or wrongly you'll achieve cult hero status at this club if you give your all week in week out, see Benjamin, see Hume, see Dickov, see Savage. We're not asking for a lot, a little effort, a little desire. And okay we're never going to get a team of fist-pumping, heart-on-the-sleeve warriors but if you're not going to bring this commitment to the table at least bring a little consistency, a little sense, a little class. Mr Mills you got any of this? Didn't think so. Get that armband off him, cut our losses, sell the buffoon. lol lol lol
cc_star Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 Poor player, not good enough and can anyone remember a worse captain... May as well make a mouse captain! It's not his distribution, it's his atrocious defensive awareness, piss poor marking, stupid liability reds, doesn't communicate which is terrible for a CB but unforgivable for supposed captain. I'd feel safer with the aforementioned mouse in the backline. Only players worth keeping are Kasper, Konch & Nuge everyone else puts a bad shift in more often than not, doesn't play with the required intensity, doesn't have the desire to receive the ball & doesn't have WINNER tatood on their bollocks. Fvck 'em all except Kasper, Konch, Nuge & anyone under 21! Just read my drunk post from last night Have to say I still agree, got very little time for most of our players these days outside of supporting them whilst they've got the shirt on.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 lol lol lol Cult hero mate, not legend. Cult hero: one who has achieved heroic status for perhaps unconventional reasons. Benjamin's reasons being that, although he was shite, he always tried his hardest. Don't see what's unreasonable/funny in saying that Unless of course you missed the point
kingfox Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 This is the best article on Foxes Talk ever, you my friend are now a legend, for an article to get so many comments as well you should be proud of yourself. Mills is one if not the most overrated player I have seen in the Championship, some games this season I have absolutely hated him. I hate him as a captain of this football club, and I hate the way he plays. Reading fans didn't like him that much, and now if they see the way we talk about it, they will be like I told you so and will also be laughing at us. Matt Mills is a waste of money, and he lacks commitment to this club. He isn't captain material, he isn't first team material and he certaintly isn't Premier League material. The funny thing is most fans thought this signing was going to be incredible, the signing of the season, the new Steve Walsh. Now we have him, fans are slating him left right and centre, and are beginning to see why the Reading fans didn't like him. From the Real Madrid game and the Rotherham game, I had a incline that Mills would be absolutely pathetic. His back pass against Madrid was awful, his defending at times not much better, and he was messy against Rotherham aswell. He has played very well on tv though, something Reading fans also said, apart from Birmingham all our other televised matches, Matt Mills has played a blinder in. When it comes to a normal 3.00pm game though, we see a different side to him, a much worse side and a much worse game from him. He can't pass a ball out of defence, and he just likes to get the ball and hoof it. If he keeps doing that we will never win games, his body language at times this season has also sucked, especially in one game can't remember which one, but towards the end of the game, he was getting absolutely skinned and he looked like he wasn't bothered, you could tell a mile away that he couldn't be bothered, and that really was the final straw for him, it really made me disappointed and angry, to see our captain looking uninterested then blaming mistakes on other players instead of himself. I would love Kasper to have the armband, he shows commitment and passion week in week out, he is a fantastic goalkeeper and a fantastic individual overall. I would like to see Mills dropped, and stay dropped until he bucks up his ideas, if Morgan or Bamba can perform well with St Ledger, I would more than happily watch them do the job instead of Mills. Finally, I doubt it will happen but I would love to see Matt Mills sold off in the summmer.
Mack Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 I think Mills own performances have mirrored the team's performances as a whole... Hit and Miss. In my opinion he is not the man to build a team around as a figurehead.
