Happy Fox Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 http://www.theposh.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10427~2618984,00.html? Quite clever way of signing players?

Finnegan Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 I'm confused... what's new or amazing about this? They've just agreed to buy him in the summer... and have loaned him til then...?
Libertine Dream Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Always wondered why clubs didnt do this more, fair play the Posh
The Doctor Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Yep, not like we've done that before (Astrit Adjarevic anyone?) There's nadda revolutionary here.
Tielemans63 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 It's not been done as an 'emergency loan' outside of the window before though has it?
Bugg Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 It's not been done as an 'emergency loan' outside of the window before though has it? Yes. The loan window is open so it can be done.
J.Lisemore Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 We did something similar when we signed Howard a few years back, nothing new.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Gifted player, very good signing for the Posh.
Finnegan Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 It's not been done as an 'emergency loan' outside of the window before though has it? It's irrelevant. You can negotiate for a player at any point in the season, nothing back-door has been done here. We could, in theory, agree a deal for Player Y from League One side X now, should we wish to, surely. He just wouldn't literally transfer until the window re-opened at the end of the year. That the loan window is open and his club have let him go in good faith prior to that is is an irrelevance.
Mack Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Not for long, the emergency loan window is being done away with by UEFA.
stix Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Not for long, the emergency loan window is being done away with by UEFA. Emergency loan window? or Loan window? Emergency loans can be made at any time outside the windows surely? Hence the word emergency.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I thought the "emergency loan window" Is more useful than the January transfer window in many respects. Well done to posh lets home we can keep him quiet when we go to London road
Finnegan Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Emergency loan window? or Loan window? Emergency loans can be made at any time outside the windows surely? Hence the word emergency. Pretty sure emergency loans and free transfers have a registration window as well, something like March? I may be taking Football Manager too literally here, so apologies if I'm a little off. But SI are usually pretty accurate with stuff like that.
Saxondale Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I've never quite understood the difference between the loan window and 'emergency' loans anyway. I know the league has to sanction these out-of-window deals but they seem to be fairly easy to get through. To me, an 'emergency' would be 'we only have 10 players', not 'we're lacking depth at leftback'.

General Smuts Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 With Bournemouth signing their only other good player Crawley will unfortunately fold now,
Simo86 Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 With Bournemouth signing their only other good player Crawley will unfortunately fold now, Haha, weren't they dubbed the Man City of League 2 at the start of the season? Seems they can't keep hold of their players now!
