Corky Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 The goal was brilliantly taken, but it was the rest of his play that really impressed. Purposeful forward passing, great off-the-ball movement, plenty of one-twos. The Charlton fans are raving about him, and rightly so. If that is part of his game, added to his wonderfully composed finishing, then we'll have an real asset.
dmayne7 Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Good post. Only takes 1 bad performance (not scoring) and people will be slating him again That sums it up with most players, but more so with King. It's the Leicester way I suppose! This thread really sums up the mpronic side of this forum. How any one could have ever slagged him off is beyond me. He was poor last season but that was down to injury and yet folk were writing him off. King is probably the best footballer at our club yet because he does not run around like a mental wasp or put in hard tackles some people can't quite seem to get behind him. The fickleness of some of our fans embarrasses me. Let's all be a bit positive eh? Come on, you can do it! Come on Kingy!!! Up the Foxes!! X It might sound stupid, but the best players keep it simple and produce that bit of quality when needed. I think of lot of credit has to go to Drinkwater aswell. I wasn't too sure about him based on last year but he showed that he can play a great role alongside King. It is all about the unseen work with King. I remember paying particular attention to him against Portsmouth away last year. He barely put a foot wrong and I don't think he stopped moving for a second. He is as good a Central Midfielder as you are going to get at this level and dare I say it, potentially as good as we are ever likely to have

Andy has played two good halves of football in an awfully long time, following injury and suddenly he's the best central midfielder in the division and 'as good as we are ever likely to get'... What you've just written definitely is 'The Leicester Way'.. Right there...

Or because I am paying attention to the fact that apart from last season he has been our player pretty much since he came into the side. I am not basing it on the last 2 performances I am simply using the Charlton match as an example. How can it be the Leicester way if its not about slating an obviously good player or being pessimistic? That is the Leicester way.
brockmyster Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Both the games this season when he has come on i think he has made a notable difference and deserves a chance starting from the off this saturday imo

You said 'as we are ever likely to get' There's the exaggeration of amazing proportions. He's not even been currently in Pearson's starting 11..... To be fair, today King has now become flavour of the month. Good on him, he's a good lad and a good footballer. But have some perspective... For as many games as I've seen Andy King control a game, I've seen him go missing in them too. So I won't hold my breath just yet.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Got to start on Saturday, starting to look like the player we had who couldnt stop scoring. Always will get at least one chance and his finishing is very good.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 - 10:19 PM I have a feeling (and I hope) that a lot of you writing King off will be eating your words next season. Anyone with any sense can see his quality from what he's done for us over the years and to write him off after one poorish season (one that he was injured for a large part of) is foolish. The guy's still young, form is temporary class is permanent. So stop getting on his back. Posted 17 April 2012 - 11:06 PM Exactly. King's not stopped doing what he does. He still makes the most intelligent runs, gets into spaces no other player we have does, works his socks off, rarely gives the ball away, is the best finisher at the club. It's just that the team around him isn't good enough. If you've got a free-flowing team that can pick out his runs then he'll bag the goals. Posted 16 February 2012 - 12:21 AM Andy King is still quality: the King of old will return, you don't lose your quality over night. Yes he could maybe make more of a positive influence on the side when things aren't going right and be a bit more adventurous but the whole anonymous tag only exists because he doesn't have a negative impact. If people make mistakes you notice (hence the recent stick for Wellens and Gallagher etc). If you keep it simple when you're not on top form and don't make mistakes you're suddenly 'anonymous'?! Posted 06 November 2011 - 08:51 PM Let me take you back to West Ham. Hadn't really done a lot all game then popped up with two goals, the second of which a limited number of players in our squad could have scored. Or Barnsley, strolls onto the pitch and gets us level within seconds. Andy King plays because Andy King scores goals, even when he's not in the best of form (which he might not have been this season). When he is on form, he scores goals and his quality shines through for a whole game. He's certainly not wank. Hate to say I told you so....

MGLCFC Posted 22 August 2012 Posted 22 August 2012 I've not been King's biggest fan, but in his 2 performances this season he looks hungry and back to his best. He certainly deserves a starting roll in front of James on the evidence of the first 2 matches.
davieG Posted 25 August 2012 Posted 25 August 2012 Merc Midfielder Andy King could be set for his first league start of the season today at Blackburn Rovers after kicking off the campaign in fantastic goalscoring form. The Wales international has scored in both of Leicester City's opening Championship fixtures after coming on as a second-half substitute – and he has a fantastic goals to minute ratio of two from 79 minutes of action. LEMS20120728C-045_C It isn't quite the best in the division as Birmingham City's Nikola Zigic has scored twice in just 49 minutes of action, but King's contribution and his finishing prowess comes as no surprise to his team-mates. "We see that finishing day in and day out in training," said goalkeeper Kasper Schm-eichel. "I am so happy for him that it is going right in games because he works so hard every day in training. "He is a willing runner, he works hard during the games and in the gym. He does all the stuff he has to do and is very professional in his approach, and he deserves it. "I hope for his sake it continues because he is one of the really good guys in football and he deserves all the positives. "He has been here a long time and as a player coming in he is very welcoming. That was great for a player like myself when I came in last season. "As a footballer he is exceptional. I remember playing against him and of the team talks being a lot about him, about him arriving late in the box and his shooting. "I face him every day in training and he is a top-class finisher. He is a top-class midfielder with huge potential still."

Captain... Posted 25 August 2012 Posted 25 August 2012 Bloody hell, kasper! Pull your tongue out of his arse It is interesting what he said about him being focussed on in team talks by the opposition, that was another reason for his poor form last season he was being picked up and tracked because of his reputation, the same happened to Marshall against Charlton, which is why Dyer was a lot more effective/dangerous than Marshall, but if we can have a team of dangerous players then they won't be able to pick up all of them. Don't be surprised today if he starts and has an "invisible" game he will be pegged as our danger man, hopefully giving Marshall, Dyer and/or Knockeart more space to attack.

Mack Posted 25 August 2012 Posted 25 August 2012 King in James out today I would wager. Beckford out Nugent in being the other change I would guess.
