We can confirm that TD is currently in Sweden, as a result he may be a bit late for the Open Meeting tonight, for which he apolgises but the meeting will commence as planned on time with Andrew Neville until Tim arrives.

Yes, they offer a bit of a translation:

FOXES IN SWEDISH SWOOP

Leicester City are aiming to fend off competition from Wolfsburg to sign Swedish defender Patrik Gerrbrand.

The Hammarby stopper trained with The Foxes last season and appears to have impressed sufficiently to secure a move to The Walkers Stadium.

The Championship club are discussing a fee with their Swedish counterparts and Gerrbrand is anxious for the deal to go through.

"I hope it will be solved," Gerrbrand told Sportbladet.

"I'd rather go to England than Germany. I feel that I need to get more aggressive in my play and I hope to develop that in England.

"The Leicester coach wants me as soon as possible."

Foxes boss Craig Levein had confirmed over the weekend that he was aiming to sign two centre halves in the coming days.

Gerrbrand appears to be one of those targets, while the other - fellow Swede, Nils-Eric Johansson - is due to join Leicester on a two-year contract once he has undergone a medical.

Should be good --- a whole season of 0-0. :D

132124[/snapback]

I'd rather us draw 0-0 than lose 1-0 like we did an awful lot last season.

I know it's frustrating we are signing alot of defensive players, but the harsh reality is we need them. Our defending was poor last season, even if we didn't concede that many goals. When we did it cost us games and I know you could say that if we had good enough strikers it wouldn't of mattered but I still think it would. I want good players at this club, in all areas of the pitch and I think it's essential we get some better defenders in.

At the end of the day, we are one striker away from quite a dangerous front line. I have every faith in Connolly to put 20 away next season if Sylla, Williams and Hughes can give him the service. MDV can't get any worse so i'd hope to see him weighing in with a few goals and the same with Dublin.

If we can get a pacey young striker who has no respect for anybody and will take his chances when he's given them then I think we'll do alright next season.

If our defence can be extremely resolute then we can build things from there. We've all said that we don't expect miracles straight away and it might take a season or so to get things right, so i'm all for our defence being given a thorough overhaul.

What's the issue with shoring up the defence? If you don't conceed goals you don't lose games and we have enough quality up front as it is to score goals.

Stroll on for christ sake who are people expecting us to sign? Vieri, Robinho perhaps?

Exactly Barton!!!

Anyway it appears we are still on course to sign a striker aswell, which I reckon will be the final piece of the jigsaw once Craig has got rid of Heath, Canero and Wright.

I'd love to see Kris Boyd here, but his weakness is his lack of pace so i'm not sure whether he'll end up here or not. All depends on the Canero situation.

My thoughts exactly.

We've only got McCarthy at centre back if you don't take Heath into consideration, i'm not sure if Johansson has been confirmed yet but if he signs and was to play in that position it's still only two and maybe Dublin, getting another one in wouldn't hurt at all.

He's certainly not signing on name or reputation, so the staff have done their homework, hopefully he's a goodun'. Seems pretty versatile aswell, which helps, and maybe he could be another Kaamark in the making :o:D

Exactly, the amount of dodgy goals we used to conceed, we need a new backline - attacking wise we've got a great midfield and another good striker or two and we will be right up there!! Roll on the Blades.. :D

I'll say this one thing, CL is working in the correct area, he was a defender and knows all about keeping the goals out, he's doing exactly the right thing for me, brining in defenders to sure us up at the back, that's his thing.

Concentrate next on attack, we only need 1 attacker and Midfield we're sorted already!

After looking at some of the players Wolfsburg have got, why does this chap want to come to us? Fair play to him, but is he abit thick? :D

Agree, also the better your defence the less you need to rely on the mid-field and forwards picking up the pieces which means they can concentrate a bit more on scoring some goals.

Obviously it is impossible to judge how good he is without watching him play but there are some positive signs.

We need versitile defencive players and he is one.

Levein has seen him on trial with us so we know what we are getting

He seems prepared for the physcial nature of the Championship, like many Scandanavian players are

Wolfsburg, a big club with top players, are interested in him. So we are nott he only club to rate him and to have picked him up in our scouting network.

Andrew Neville confirmed in person tonight that this deal was all but done. Tim Davies arrived mid meeting after arriving back from Sweden.

Looks good for this bloke as well!! :D:D:thumbup:;)

This has the whiff of a genius bit of scouting about it. Levein has already proved his ability to surprise us with quality signings from out of the blue (Hughes and McCarthy). We await further developments on Patrick JoBrand and other mystery men.....

I can picture that happening at the meeting. 'Tim runs through the door and apologises for being late. He'd just got back from Sweden'. What a great excuse for missing half of the meeting lol
