magnus Posted 5 July 2005 Posted 5 July 2005 Hi Patrik Gerrbrand has been playing with Hammarby since 1995 and has gone from the juniorteam to the a-team. He's been playing with the swedish U21-team as a central back and been one of the best players in the games hes played wiht the national team. He is strong and always plays on a high level. He never steps down and have a great hit with hes head. He have a good sence for the play and are always one step ahead from the opponent. He is a future man for the swedish national team and after a few years he can be a teamcaptain for leicester. Hes always sheering hes teammates and never do a bad game. If you can get him for under 1 milj EURO you have made a really good transfer. He's gonna be a very good player in the future Best Wishes from Sweden www.hammarbyfotboll.se

Ric Flair Posted 6 July 2005 Posted 6 July 2005 By the sounds of things, we'll definately have to pay money for this fella. It says in the paper this morning that Heath will sign for Hull for £200,000 which is nice! I reckon this dude will cost us £250,000

I'm starting to get excited about the new season now!

Thracian Posted 6 July 2005 Posted 6 July 2005 What's the issue with shoring up the defence? If you don't conceed goals you don't lose games and we have enough quality up front as it is to score goals.Stroll on for christ sake who are people expecting us to sign? Vieri, Robinho perhaps? 132133 Well, we didn't score enough last year, did we? Yours is exactly the philosophy it's time we ditched if we want to be regarded as a club that's more than mediocre. "If we don't lose goals we don't lose games." George Graham personified, another 20-odd draws, another few games being beaten by a fluke, another season looking at big gaps on the terraces and hearing TV fans say "Oh no, not bloody Leicester again. Sleeping pills anyone?" Last season was summed up at Blackburn. We never had an attacking idea in our head. We huffed and puffed and contributed SOD-ALL to a game that was about as entertaining as watching old folk talking on a park bench. I don't know how old you are but I was spoiled. Unlike a lot on this commendable site, I remember the days - and it was for a decent period - when Leicester were not just first division (equilvalent of today's Premiership) but classy first division. I want that back and so would you if you been there and seen it, believe me. You'd have walked down the street proud as Punch to talk about your team. Newspapers were full of tales about magical football and minnows from the sticks running rings around the country's best sides. I don't want cagey, nervy, unconvincing, unsure, let's hang on to what we've got football I want City going back to their roots, back to being a fast, skillful, marauding all action side with a ruthless defence and a lethal attack. I want opponents to be filling their team will defenders as the only way they might stand a chance of keeping us out. I want teams to be genuinely scared to death of what we might do to them and every opposing goalkeepers to suffer from shell shock the day after facing our forwards. If I wanted the footballing equivalent of Woolworths I'd nip down Viccy Park but I don't. I want nothing less than the standards set by Gordon Banks, Frank McLintock, Ian King, Colin Appleton, Richie Norman, Mike Stringfellow and Davie Gibson. It was a big enough crime those standards were ever allowed to slip and it's high time someone presided over their return (and yes I do believe Levein can be that man). I don't want "shore the goal up cos we can't lose" cos that sort of philosophy has got us nowhere for years. It even cost us our place in the Premiership when we kept losing leads because arsehole Adams nievely and negatively believed we could hang on to what we'd got. "Negative" is the second worst word in the English language in my view. Winners. That's what we want everywhere you look at the Walkers:- on the pitch, on the training ground, in the managers office in the broom cubboards. Winners. That's what football is about not shoring the f......g goal up. Levein is putting some decent building blocks in place (I really, really rate the man) but he's like bloody Nelson. When he looks at the pitch he seems only to see the defence. You talk about shoring the defence but in my experience human error creeps in, goals get conceded whatever. But if you go out to score three and four goals a time then it doesn't matter. You win, you get a decent goals difference, you fill the stands with fans, you get more money, you get better players, kids want to play for you ......we all want to save our scarves, we're happy, we start fancying the wife again, the benefits are endless. It just takes nerve. Do I have to spell it out any louder for God's sake. CHAMPION FOOTBALL IS ABOUT WINNING. IT IS NOT ABOUT NOT LOSING.
Steven Posted 6 July 2005 Posted 6 July 2005 Chandlers back.... god get a grip man. 132925 I don't think "Thracian" is Chandler, though Thracian does remind me of other posters on this and other forums. I do agree that Champion football is about winning and that it is not about losing. CL himself said this at the end of last season when quizzed about the draws. CL would rather have 7 wins and 13 loses than 20 draws. CL would rather not have 13 loses but the idea is that players can see the value of trying to win rather than trying to protect what they have.

One of the best managers in world football (although got millions in pocket) Mourinho is quoted as saying to get the defence sorted first and work way up and i'm not going to argue with him. I'm fed up of having to close my eyes in the last five minutes of games or everytime opposition get a corner, i want a solid defence! And you talk about all the leicester city greats, but that was then and this is now, and we don't have money to sign greats anymore, maybe future greats, but it takes time. I want more than anything to be feared by teams for our attacking abilities but first i want success and promotion, and if that means grinding out 1-0 wins every week, then i will grit my teeth and take it! Maybe then we can start bringing in players with flair and brazilian like skill. WOHHOOO LONDON 2012

ursus Posted 6 July 2005 Posted 6 July 2005 Hammarby has turned down the Leicester offer. Gerrbrand stays in Hammarby for now.
mmmkay Posted 6 July 2005 Posted 6 July 2005 "GERRBRAND STAYS IN HAMMARBY - FOR THE TIME BEING" From Hammarby's official site: "Patrik Gerrbrand will not be sold to the English team Leicester at this time. - The board of Hammarby Fotboll AB has declined the latest offer. However, this does not mean that the deal is not to be. If there is an offer that is fair and in line with what he is worth, we are interested, says Hammarby Fotboll CEO Henrik Appelqvist." The transfer offer that was rumored in Swedish media was in the vicinity of 400 000-500 000 Euros. Hammarby coach Anders Linderoth said to a Swedish newspaper today that it would be insane to release Gerrbrand for anything less than twice that amount. http://www.hammarbyfotboll.se/se/aktuellt/...articleid=27717
