Guest Col city fan Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Marshall... Let's start building for the future Nige... Wellens, Gally, Bamba can leave the club in the summer IMO. Marshall and Drinkwater in for the rest of the season. And... Dare I say it, mills back?
leicestercity_ Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Gallagher has one good game in about 7 games and isn't good enough. His set pieces are not as good or as consistent as what people make out. His set pieces were awful yesterday so I agree! Marshall delivered a great corner away at Norwich! Gally is inconsistent
acooling08 Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 As said many times before, Gallagher can be a match winner once in a while but he is usual next to useless.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 I really hope he goes in the summer or is a sub player at best. Prefer Dyer and Marshall on the wings with there pace, maybe if Hull stay in the championship try and go for Cameron Stewart
breadandcheese Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 After marshalls goal against chelsea he has as good as shot as gally and he's younger! ...and he can actually deliver a corner, although I'm sure we'll train it out of him. He'll soon be floating a ball straight to the first defender.
m00nie Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Neither are right (and we'll be after a pair of wingers in the summer) but right now Marshall has to get the nod. what?? I doubt marshall was a short term intention. MAYBE a winger to replace dyer could be on the shopping list but i feel BM will be a deffo starter..
AKCJ Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 what?? I doubt marshall was a short term intention. MAYBE a winger to replace dyer could be on the shopping list but i feel BM will be a deffo starter.. I don't see Marshall being a Premier League class footballer when he's older (assuming that's where we'll be when he is older). I'm willing to be proven wrong, but he doesn't seem to have much pace or skill IMO.
dannythefox Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 I would rather have a young and hungry lad who takes good corners and puts a shift in all day long over Gally the only reason I would want Gally on the field is for penos and free kicks that's all he has to offer now and he should never be in the starting line up again imo.
The Padster Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 After Gally's third corner my mate turned to me and said " even you could do better than that", ignoring the obvious dig he was having at me, I agreed. I mean, how hard is it to put your foot under the ball? I, like many others I'm sure, spent a good deal of their youth just hoofing the ball to your mate down the park (if there wasn't enough kids for cuppies ) and despite not being at my physical peak like him, I am confident I can still manage to at least put it over the first man. In fact, whilst having a kick about last summer I took a goal kick in my slip-ons (didn't realise I was going to be playing) and still hit it hard, high and far, so why on earth he can't do it in proper boots is beyond me.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Marshalls crossing has been excellent so far. I don't know what it is about a man whipping a dipping cross into the edge of the 6 yard area that makes me need to crap
Bayfox Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 for me, marshall. gally has had 4 seasons now and unless he is scoring wonder goals he doesnt offer much. it's time to try moving forward for next season. if np is going to stick with 442 then we have to have better width and mashall hopefully offers that and works harder.
shade Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 the linesman often looks more dangerous than gally on the wing. Marshall has looked prostrate in many games so far however, like a deer in the headlights. his corners are far superior to gallaghers though.
Ian W LCFC Posted 20 March 2012 Author Posted 20 March 2012 My school teacher is a carlisle scout, and he spotted marshall for them a few seasons ago, he said it took him a few games to settle in but after that he was great and was good at dribbling past a man and was good at crosses. Because this is his first season in the championship i think he is just trying to adjust to the new style of football and probably next season he will be one of the first names on the team sheet!

Marshall has looked prostrate in many games so far however, like a deer in the headlights. his corners are far superior to gallaghers though. That's not saying much. My corners are far superior to Gallaghers haha! Anyway I'd rather see Marshall on the wing. Gallaghers good for his free-kicks and peno's and that's about it. Surely with a little practise someone else can take over those duties.
SeCrEt FoX Posted 20 March 2012 Posted 20 March 2012 Considering how good Marshalls goal was , i have not heard, seen or read much more about it . Even in the papers monday morning (merc dont count) didnt really say owt! Bit pissed bout it really. Deserved a mention being at least top 10 goals of the season in my eyes , certainly in the fa cup. Not a lot of players beat a top prem goalie from 30/35 yards .
Captain... Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 If you are asking who should play on the right side of a midfield 4 in a 442 formation, it has to be Marshall, in games where he has played in that position we have looked better as a team, he gives us more shape and balance, because that is his natural position, we look more solid on the right, we always have an outlet on the right and the left and we stretch their back four. Even if he is the worst player on the team, the team is better for his inclusion. It is not a dig at Gally, I think he is a good player but he is not a natural in that position and we look unbalanced and exposed every time he plays. For the rest of the season we need to have him as first choice on the right, we need to see more of Schlupp and Drinkwater, we are not going to make the play-offs so we need to know if these 3 are good enough to be in a promotion winning first team next season, and if the likes of Hopper, Moore and Taft can be squad players at this level, give the likes of Nugent, Wellens, Konchesky, a bit of a break a game off here and there, I'm sure a few of them are carrying knocks and niggles.
