Grewks Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 New midfield, give no cover to the defence whatsoever, its no wonder we conceded so easily tonight and against Chelsea. Cannot wait to get home!
Kitchandro Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 The summer will be shit. We'll all be desperate for new signings and we'll be fooled into thinking we're going to buy top quality Championship players. Then in September we'll realise our squad isn't good enough again. The midfield is poor but the defenders aren't great either. I don't expect Pearson to replace the necessary players or get the things we are missing completely. No optimism for the future at all.

If you were there tonight or at Chelsea you would realise that the midfield causes the problem for our defence. Wellens is the deepest man, and has neither the legs or desire to get back and put a tackle in. The last thing you want as a CB is a winger running at you, your midfield should prevent that from happening.

Yet I think completely the opposite. He'll make the right changes, he will hate all the goals we've conceded.
Kitchandro Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Yet I think completely the opposite. He'll make the right changes, he will hate all the goals we've conceded. Yes but his solution in January was Morgan. He started OK but how's he doing now? It hardly fills me with confidence. The midfield requires a lot of changes, I'm not bothered if certain players have played well in recent games I'm not convinced any of them are up to the job on a consistent basis. He's not going to get the 3 or 4 midfielders that are necessary. Do you seriously think he'll get that many?
speedwayson Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 roll on summer when you look at whats going up and whats coming down none will have money to spend and what players are going to be on offer we have got to get rid of the dead wood and start playing together as a team and not bit players playing when suites it will be as you are for a bit
Corky Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 I have little optimism at the moment. We seem nicely settled in this division again
acooling08 Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Kitchandro, the midfield isn't shit. Danns and Wellens are playing well. Marshall is looking good. DD is very very promising. Dyer is always dangerous. Only shit midfielder is Gallagher, and he isn't shit, just on shit form.

We do need a couple of midfielders and possibly to play tonights system more often. Personally I think Danns and Drinkwater will form a decent partnership next year, I don't think we need anything radical, maybe a Neil Lennon type player with balls.

Dyer is always dangerous. Only shit midfielder is Gallagher, and he isn't shit, just on shit form. So what? It's about fvcking time they had a little bit of good form. It's March! Where were they from August to February? Playing like tossers most of the time. Dyer is wank and if we still cling on to 'he's got pace so he's dangerous' stuff we'll never get anywhere. Usain Bolt's got pace why don't just buy him? There are many, many fast players out there and most of them can kick a ball better than Dyer. If we're still playing Dyer next season we can forget promotion. Marshall has looked promising because of one good cross and one great goal? He's done bugger all besides that. Yeh OK he's shown glimpses of quality but is that really enough evidence to suggest he's good enough? Drinkwater's the same, he's done the odd good thing but he hasn't really made an impact. Our form and performances are not loads better than they were before we bought these players. This is the type of crap I was on about on the other thread, why is every player who has a short period of good form all of a sudden good enough? They've been failures for most of the season. (the new signings aside) Midfield still needs an overhaul, I've been thinking that for some time.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 New season, new start.. Sounds all so familiar
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Kitchandro, the midfield isn't shit. Danns and Wellens are playing well. Marshall is looking good. DD is very very promising. Dyer is always dangerous. Only shit midfielder is Gallagher, and he isn't shit, just on shit form. We are limited in midfield. You cannot deny that. Each player has their limitations, some more than most, and if you compare the likes of what we have now, to when we had Izzet, Lennon, Guppy and Savage, it doesn't take too long to work out that our current midfield is no better than mediocre. We won't make a promotion push with 4 days a week Wellens who finally decides to put in a few decent shifts in at the end of February nor will we profit hugely from Dyer who, for all his pace, lacks any real cutting edge when it's needed most. DD looks promising, I'll let you have that, but we need a tough nut midfielder who takes no prisoners because at the moment in the middle we're far too lightweight to make an impression on teams - and, let's face it, we're not exactly up against quality opposition from one week to the next either. This season has been mediocre at best, it contains mediocre teams, who compete at a mediocre level. All teams promoted this season will get relegated next, without question imo.
Leicesterpool Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 I've got a bad feeling this summer will be forced to sell to buy.
Grewks Posted 21 March 2012 Author Posted 21 March 2012 Keep - Kasper bamba, konch, St ledger, morgan danns, marshall, dyer, drinks, Becks , Nugget, Schlupp We build from here, I know Nige doesnt have the balls to do this, and Sven tried and failed, but we should spend money, and spend it effectiveley. Newcomers Ben Amos - loan and cover for Kasper Gunter - Better than Pelts, and when they had umbrella man i reckon we could have got him for the same price god knows what Center Backs we could get, not a lot of decent and realistic ones available. Koren - even just one season with this guy could get us promoted, one of the best technically gifted midfielders in this league Trotter - looks like a tank, plays like a tank, much needed cover for our back 4. David Perkins - never stops running, always 100% committed, and a very tidy footballer, impressed me twice versus colchester and twice against barnsley, a very good prospect. Lee Martin - very tricky and skillful winger, not as pacy as dyer but would certainly be our most skillfil player. Jay Emannuel Thomas - Another big lad who will bolster our midfield, great all rounf player, can do everything. Paul Anderson - remember the player he has been against us? Once fully fit and playing he will again be one of the trickiest player in this league to handle. George Boyd - with better players around him, this guy could be a gem. Often gets marked out of games while playing for Boro, but playing in a team with better players , may give him more time to work his magic. Marko Futacs - 22 years of age, 6 ft 5, he will be a premier league target man one day, a couple of my Portsmouth mates have said he reminds them of Kanu, when at his peak. Also extremeley mobile to his size, and plays similar (obviously not as good) to Ibrahimovic. Craig Davies - Without Sven in charger we possible could have got this guy. has everything, pace, power, strength, target man, and most importantly a goal score. Emile Sinclair - A very similar presence to davies, but has less ability in the goalscoring department, but does cause more problems. Had we been going into this season with... Kasper Amos St Ledger Gunter Morgan Konch Bamba Taft (one more CB option) Danns drinky Trotter Koren Perkins Martin Boyd Anderson Emmanuel Thomas Futacs Davies Beckford Nugent I dare say we would be much better off than we are now, we wouldnt have to play 4-4-2 every week, and we would have the required player to have a plan a,b and c. Nigel, favouritism will get you the sack. Change is needed, failure to recognise this, will likel lead to a failure to keep your job. In NP I trust but my patience is wearing thin.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Yep. Great idea rip the team apart and start again. That'll work.
Grewks Posted 21 March 2012 Author Posted 21 March 2012 Had you even heard of Futacs before this season? Unfortunately not, however was it not impossible for Sven to discover him?? Or was he too mighty and requested too low a wage?? Or were we just outscouted be the mighty Pompey. Lets face it, there was more chance of me knowing his name before Sven.
StanSP Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 Totally revamping our squad AGAIN? Yeah, that's worked in the past... We need a core in our team. Kasper, SSL, Morgan, Danns, Drinkwater, Beckford, Nugent. Keep those for sure. But don't bring in tons of options for the remaining positions. We need consistency, not constantly changing players just because they are talented for other clubs. I count 11 new signings/options in that list. 1) There's not a chance in hell we'll even consider getting all of them. 2) It isn't productive to sign so many players. We need to build a team. Give Pearson the time to do so and all will be well in the world of Leicester City again.
Grewks Posted 21 March 2012 Author Posted 21 March 2012 JET - The most overrated player in the league? The player who is the most diverse in the league....maybe....he can play every position apart from GK, something we dont have in our squad is players who have the knowledge to play different positions, this lad certainly does.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 21 March 2012 Posted 21 March 2012 How is this a warning? a warning we are going to go bankrupt..
