Just watched Episode 1, was pretty meh. Mercy killing Mance is nowhere good as

swapping him with Rattleshirt then sending him on a rescue mission into Winterfell

Liked how they incorporated Maggie the Frog, though.

Pretty sure that will still happen.

He seemed pretty legit when he was talking to Stannis.

Could be Tormund taking Rattleshirt's place. He seemed to feature a lot in that scene but apart from that there was no hinting at it so I don't think it'll happen.

It's GOT, of course it's unrealistic lol. I need to rewatch the shows because I'm struggling to recall how they were explained, but in the books they're the result of popular protest against corruption in the Church and they draw in pretty much all the devouts of the Seven Gods and all the poor in King's Landing so their sudden rise is well-explained.  They then go on to force a member of their group into the position of High Septon at which point Cersei militarises them to avoid having to pay back a large debt to the Faith which was now under their control.  I got the impression in the TV series that Cersei militarises them as a tactic to get back at the Tyrell's which is why I need to watch the episodes back over because I feel I must have glossed over on a lot!

If memory serves the sparrows are not in the book in that sense. they are an old and more devout part of the church that was used before to help maintain law and order. they were broken up by king robert if memory serves me. the way they are taking it now is...different. but i will let it ride.

You're thinking of the Faith Militant who were broken up long before Robert's reign, and who Cersei turns the Sparrows into.  The Sparrows themselves formed as a counterbalance to the influence held over the Faith by the Lannisters and their gold.  They aren't introduced quite as suddenly as in the TV series, but I'm (fairly) sure they still come somewhat out of nowhere, exploding in popularity amidst the chaos in Westeros.

If my memory serves correctly anyway...

Praying they have Manderly in or Greatjon or someone to do the north remembers speech, best part of the whole series. Someone has to take over that role perhaps sansa can do it i dont know, for sure though a bolton will die this season i hope.

I reckon it's got to be the Greatjon, I don't think they've cast Manderly (yet). One of the big goosebumps-moments in the books, they can't leave it out.

The actor that plays him could pull it off as well, he's got great screen presence.

Just watching eps 2-4 again and how brilliant is the intro music?  Even though it's so long it still makes you want to sit through it all, which I usually never do with other shows.

Haydos, do you think it will be this season surely it has to be. This is just my hunch one what i think will happen, i think Greatjon will come before the wedding and speak to sansa and arrange with theon revenge on the boltons at the wedding of sansa and ramsey. + we will see dead freys outside of winterfell

The timelines are all a bit wonky. It could be part of the last episode this season after shit goes down at Winterfell, then they'd be hitting Winds of Winter territory next season. Looks like Sansa might end up taking the place of Jeyne Poole as well.

But yeah, I reckon what you said is going to happen at some point, just depends on when they want things to happen. Do you reckon Sansa's on her way to Winterfell now? They could be going to Harrenhal (Littlefinger's seat now I think).

Yeah, i think they are going to winterfell and they will replace Jeyne poole with her and she will plan revenge from with in, which i think theon will have a big part in. We shall see, lets just hope your right and that they do have Greatjon this season doing damage!

but haven't we already seen the fake Arya being transported to Winterfell? Or am I thinking of something else?

Which bit are you thinking of? I can't remember either :S

maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought there was a scene of a young ish girl with brown hair being led off on a cart looking sad while the voice over talked of someone marrying a stark girl to reunite the north, it was never implicitly stated it was supposed to be Arya, but having read the book I assumed it was fake Arya, I could be wrong I could have dreamt it all or be getting confused with the books

I think you're right, that does ring bells. Wonder if they've dropped that...

Why did they even have Sansa and LF leave the Vale in the first place? Kinda makes absolutely no sense now that LF has full control of the vale just to turn around and go "**** it". Varys on team Dany is just weird considering he tried to get her killed in AGOT

He had Jorah on the payroll though so it was probably on Varys' info that Jorah knew of the poisoning plot in the first place.

LF hasn't cemented the Vale yet and besides, he has bigger ambitions. And didn't Varys warn against having her killed in season 1/2? I'm still not sure what his end game is, whether he wants peace, another family on the throne or both. Even if he didn't want her killed then a lot has changed, he's an opportunist.

I could watch a spin-off show starring Tyrion and Varys. I enjoy their scenes the most.

it could be a prequel show about how Varys lost his nuts and feature Tyrion and his lover, even better it could be like drunk histories with Tyrion and Varys just getting hammered and reminiscing about thecrazy King burning people alive and the war against the targaryen's I'd watch that.
