What are you saying about Lee Peltier?

That he's a good, young, talented English player signed from a lower league?

I.e. a typical "Pearson" signing.

Posted

Just a typical NP signing, but in a good way. Sven would never have signed him IMO.

I guarantee that the lad will be playing in the PL within 3 years, there's something special about him.

He's good enough to play for the England U20's or U21's IMO.

Your 'O' is nonsence then. What in earth can be gained in kicking Sven for not signing a player who wasn't for sale last summer? Absolute rubbish post and what is so different between Marshall and players like Danns, Peltier, Schmeical, all young players who are trying to build their careers? I suppose Sven did wrong signing them too?

Yes Sven did wrong in every player that he signed. JK

Phew. Back to your point though, I think BM is exactly the kind of player SGE was looking for, dissafected players with talent struggling to get games at their current club, or ambitious players at other Championship clubs looking for am opportunity with an ambitious club. Lets hope Nige keeps it up.

So would Pearson have signed young players like Naughton, Cunningham, Mee, Bruma and Van Aanholt then?

Age? - Marshall 20, Danns 29, Peltier 25, Kasper 25.

I doubt Sven would have known about Ben anyway. His lower league knowledge started and stopped with Huddersfield due to his assistant manager. The rest were people who had good games against us, or ones he'd come in contact with elsewhere.

Not knocking Sven, he and Pearson have both had hits and misses in transfers. One I just think is more capable of building a team, rather than individuals.

Sven did bring in decent players but Nigel has deffo made us more of a 'team' Beckford is now playing with a smile on his face since Pearson gave him a kick up the backside, Danns is a different more confident player under Nigel too.

Pearson is quality at bringing in young hungry players did it here 1st time around and at hull and again here...

Mark Davies; Drinkwater; Spearing; Hobbs; Morro; waggy now the likes of Ben Marshall & Drinkwater :) much prefer this approach to svens 'galactico' approach although I did like Sven and he could attract top players.

Get behind the boys UTF!! <3

Love the Ben Marshall song:p :chant::scarf:

I will still never understand this. Yeah, i brought in a few players such as Johnson and Fernandes, but that was about it. Yakubu was great, would love him back this season. But other than that there was Peltier, Bamba, Danns, Nugent, St Leger, Mills, Konchesky, Paintsil....Hardly 'galacticos' by any stretch of the imagination.

All the highlighted players had international caps to their name and had played at (arguably in Bamba's case) a higher level you can add Vassell and Ricardo to that. Kasper and Beckford had both played in the Prem and had big names. Mills was considered the best CB in the league, St Ledger was another international. For an average championship club that is quite galactic, with a galactic outlay of about 15 - 20 million, and that is why we were tipped to win the league at the start of the season.

All of that is without mentioning the loanee debacle of last season.

Give me signings like Marshall and Drinkwater any time, as someone highlighted before the similarities between these signings and those of Lennon, Izzett and Savage, young hungry players with a point to prove, and bring them in a couple at a time, I am so sick of seeing us buy 10 players in a transfer window it just doesn't work.

Obviously not all Sven's signings have failed, but his spending policy was one of a mini galactico, if you are still at Uni you may be a little too young to remember the Derby Dream Team of the early 90s, similar type of thing with a similar level of success.

I have thought he has looked good all along, its has took him a while to settle in as you would expect but he seems to be getting better.

On Saturday I though his defensive cover for Peltier was also excellent, he seems to have a similar amount of talent to perhaps a young Izzet which is very promising. I will have much fun winding the Stoke fans up at work as I relocated there.

I live in East London but im a season ticket holder at Stoke..our boss is a Leicester fan and he just loves to rave about Marshall infront of me lol its us two northerners surrounded by Wet Spam fans

Pretty sure nobody wrote him off. That would have been mental.

People were saying that he did nothing in his first 5 or 6 games, which was perfectly true. Playing very nicely now though.

Amazing what confidence a couple of goals gives you, i think the lad will get better and better, hopefully anyway

Looks to me like another good young Pearson signing. To be fair, Pearson can pick a good young player.

I still think its a bloody shame we sold Jack Hobbs though. He played pretty well on Saturday although strange to see him coming forward so often?

In Nige I continue to trust....
