LiamSCFC Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Stoke fan here..just wondering how Ben Marshall has been playing? gutted when we let him go! only seen him a few times and he looks a quality player. His goal at Chelsea was something we could tell he was capable of. Good luck with the rest of the season got a fiver on you to reach the playoffs!
gloriousglenn Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 His goal today was every bit as good, and put in a great performance to boot. He's certainly one to look out for.
kingfox Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Was pretty woeful in my opinion, in his first couple of games. Just like Paul Gallagher scared to take people on, and pulls it back instead of driving forward. But last two games against Chelsea he looked dangerous, but today against Hull he was exceptional, he seemed to be playing in the middle though and looked absolute quality. Seems to be coming into his own now, hopefully he can push on and become a real good player for us.
LiamSCFC Posted 25 March 2012 Author Posted 25 March 2012 His goal today was every bit as good, and put in a great performance to boot. He's certainly one to look out for. not what I wanted to hear alot of Stoke fans wanted him to be given a chance in the first team even as a sub but wasn't to be
stix Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 not what I wanted to hear alot of Stoke fans wanted him to be given a chance in the first team even as a sub but wasn't to be Good young player. His wonder strike at Chelsea has given him a bucket load of confidence. Played well today for me. Have a pop kid...whats the worst that could happen? . Cheers & that.
ScouseFox Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Average until his stunner at Chelsea. Barely noticeable, in fact. Then boom, great strike, and looked good running at their defence. Mid week, a cross for Becks to score was top drawer. Today was his best performance by a long way, good (albeit deflected) goal, few classy touches and looked sharper. Still waiting to judge him, but he's starting to make me think I might like what I see.
Saxondale Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Interesting that we signed him in our hunt for wingers but he seems to look better down the middle. Despite a shaky start he's starting to look pretty good. Definitely no complaints if he keeps scoring great goals!
LCFC BEAST Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 He needed time to settle in, but now he's coming out of his shell and becoming every bit a player we hoped for. I always thought to be a winger for Stoke you had to be good and he isn't disappointing, cheers for him
Kitchandro Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 not what I wanted to hear alot of Stoke fans wanted him to be given a chance in the first team even as a sub but wasn't to be Of course it wasn't, he's not tall enough
Finnegan Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 I think people were expecting far too much of a twenty year old with no real experience above League One when he first arrived. Some players are hugely outgoing and revel in any new challenge, they light the place up immediately where as some take time to bed. Marshall came in to an under performing side with massive expectations and I think some of the people on here were a little bit underwhelmed because he didn't start all guns blazing. I can't say I was one of them. Yes, he wasn't exactly impactful in his first few games but to me he looked nervous, looked a little unsettled. There were clear glimmers of pace and skill but he just never quite seemed confident in letting them shine and unfortunately he got dropped as a result for Gallagher. But last couple of games he's really bedded in a little and started to express himself and he looks a real prospect, comfortable in the middle or out wide when going forward and willing to put his foot in when we need to defend. Just as capable at spanking in a ranged effort as Gallagher but with added speed, bottle and energy to the package. Genuinely very excited about Marshall, not sure he'd have had an abundance of opportunities at Stoke - the Premiership is a huge step again - but he could be a really asset for us.
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Looks more of a attacking centre midfielder to me
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Wips in a lovely cross. Fabulous arse too. Better than King Kenny's imo
FrankieADZ Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 thought he looks like hes finding his feet. I thought he played really well today. he seemed to be everywhere around the pitch...kinda in a floating role. Kinda surprised he wasnt given a chance at Stoke...but hey...you have Pennant Best of luck for the rest of the season
LiamSCFC Posted 25 March 2012 Author Posted 25 March 2012 thought he looks like hes finding his feet. I thought he played really well today. he seemed to be everywhere around the pitch...kinda in a floating role. Kinda surprised he wasnt given a chance at Stoke...but hey...you have Pennant Best of luck for the rest of the season I've seen Marshall twice for Stoke and he played just behind the strikers and looked very decent there...others who saw him more said he was more of winger. Gutted wasn't the word for what most stokies felt when Marshall went. And yea we have Pennant but our manager is as stubborn as they come and decides to leave him (one of the best players we have at the club) on the bench. How you finding Gallagher? one of the most frustrating footballers i have ever seen on his day he is quality but he had 20 bad games before that "day" came
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Bargain price so cheers for that I think Marshall's going to be a very important player for us next season.. Looks as if he can play all over midfield which is good for us!
easilee Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 This kid is special. And by that I don't mean retarded ! fvck it... I think I'll quit while I'm only a little bit behind. Luv ya City!
Guest Foxin_mad Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I have thought he has looked good all along, its has took him a while to settle in as you would expect but he seems to be getting better. On Saturday I though his defensive cover for Peltier was also excellent, he seems to have a similar amount of talent to perhaps a young Izzet which is very promising. I will have much fun winding the Stoke fans up at work as I relocated there.
ian the fox Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 2 goals in 3 games - wellens 2 goals in 2 seasons - nuff said eh !
Ric Flair Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Looked very dangerous through the middle, but equally as threatening when out wide with the crossing ability he posseses. Keep it up Ben. I met him before the game on Saturday, seems a sound lad.
Callabinho Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I didn't think he was that bad on the wings, just needed something to help find his feet at this level! And boy he did at Chelsea! I think eventually he will be part of a three pronged attack! I can see him replacing Whittingham as one of the best players in the division!
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 He's a good young player typical Pearson buy, still settling in but getting better more he plays, confidence at the minute as to why he's not taking on players as much as he did during his spell at Wednesday, be he'll get there just confidence big step for the young lad, can see he has great technique he'll be a big player for us next year imo Keep the Ben Marshall chant going too city
Simmo86 Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 What Finners said..... Unbelievable that people would right off a young lad after just 5 games but hey thats Leicester fans for you!
iamafox Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Just a typical NP signing, but in a good way. Sven would never have signed him IMO. I guarantee that the lad will be playing in the PL within 3 years, there's something special about him. He's good enough to play for the England U20's or U21's IMO.

Babylon Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Nigel seemed very enthusiastic about him in his post match interview. He can certainly smack a ball, his strike on Saturday seemed to get quicker as it travelled.
