Forest Post Match

Your usual balanced post Babs...

I disagree with you over Drinkwater though. I don't think his teammates gave him 'any ideas'..

I reckon he's going to be an exceptional player for City for years to come.

True they didn't, and I'm not talking about the whole game regards him, but on about 70 I thought he would have gone off had we had any real options available. Made a few poor decisions, was on a yellow and had made a couple of iffy tackles also.

True too. I expected to see King on after about 70 as we didn't look like scoring. I guess it was too soon for him.

No link at all between midfield and forwards, what's the point of having king on the bench and not using him when we desperately needed some link up play?

Because he's not a play maker, he's a run into gaps player and there were none. We'd have been left very light in the middle also.

To true, as I said on an earlier post, why have him on the bench if he wasn't fit?

i have just got from watching such a boring game of football if thats a top football clubs then i would pack up that shows that forest are where they should be or in the next divison down top club my arse

Perhaps we needed someone in the gaps between midfield and forwards because for me today it was shocking

That was our 8th game in March and most of our starting line-up have played all of them, we looked slow and tired, is it really surprising?

Nugent, Dyer and Marshall all looked tired in the second half, and injuries has meant that our options were a teenager and a pensioner.

It sounds like excuses, but you add that to the fact we had a defender in the midfield, 2 20 year olds still finding their feet playing a team that were looking to spoil the game slow it down and a ref that couldn't control the game and stop their physical tactics and time wasting.

Saying all that we were the better team and should have won, but a point is not a disaster.

Spot on

No one this season has worked as hard as Nuge but last few games he's just looked tired.

Playoffs are still on no teams at the moment can put a run together - stupid amount of games for the end of the season and for my wallet

If we don't make playoffs - Roll on May...get a few decent players in as cover and we'll storm it next year

What is the evidence that we will "storm" it next year?

You're right it could all go horribly wrong but I reckon....

Past couple of months we've looked a more balanced with players playing better having regular roles and positions, Danns and Dyer in particular

4 home wins and a draw...looking good at home, no reason why we can't continue that to the end of season and into next

Defence needs working on and Peason's the right man to do that in pre-season

Beckford and Nugent looking a great pairing over the last couple of months and Schlupp will improve

Looking good

You'd have had to take a CM off though and none of them seemed capable of sliding in a runner or dictating play today for us to take advantage of King.

Bamba picked a few decent passes but only after breaking Forest down, people didn't pass to him for him to have been able to dictate play.

I know what you're saying, but I just felt him coming on would have caused other problems and we'd have taken off the players who were supposed to be there to pick him out.

Well that was fvcking painful.

A side who can't break teams down like that quite frankly doesn't deserve to be in the top six, and that, is exactly why we won't be.

Season done for and I don't give a fvck anymore. All about giving Schlupp, Drinkwater etc... more time to bed in with these next 7 friendlies.

Left as soon as Howard came on for Dyer... Pearson's subs really do confuse me some times.

I would have left too, had I not already been asleep.

And two league one strikers at the same time in Howard and Beckford, couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo between them.

Boring, as expected. Whilst I think it's over, I'll keep hoping because it gives our season a little reason. Even though I have a season ticket, I wan't as few dead rubbers as possible.

On the plus side, the chicken-balti was immense. Best since Scunthorpe, so well done Top & Co. Just goes to show all that money does produce some results.

And that's why we won't go up...

Forest never really looked like scoring, left hoping a long-range shot from in and around the 18-yard box would find the target. But we never really broke them down either.

I thought Bamba was quality. I don't think he's a centre midfielder and wouldn't like to see him there next season but he did a job tonight and did it well. Drinkwater hustled and bustled, bit harsh of people to be slating him when he was the only one looking to make something happen.

Don't think anyone was particularly bad. We were solid if unspectacular which is why we didn't lose but we've got to be better going forward. So frustrating that we've had so many opportunities to challenge the play-offs but still not done it. It sums it up when Steve Howard is being chucked on for us to lump it up to him in desperation because we've run out of ideas. Please don't let him be at the club next season.

Didn't really feel like a local derby tonight, their support numbers-wise was dreadful, vocally not much better either. Singing "your ground's too big for you" and "empty seats" when we took 7,000 to their place in January and had almost half the gate was laughable, shame we didn't remind them of this. Wasn't massively keen on that new chant from our end, sounded like it was meant to be 'Three Lions' but wasn't quite. Suppose at least it's fairly different to what a lot of other clubs are singing in England.

Atmosphere's definitely better but can we please not make every chant continental-style?! One criticism of our support that I would have is that we're very 'flavour of the month'. We get one thing; ring of fire, poznan, we love you etc. and do it to a slow and painful death. Let's slowly introduce things but also keep the old stuff, as my dad said: "three new songs in a week, that's gonna be a bit much for some people isn't it!"

I think we need to play more direct because everytime we try to create something from the wing, nothing happens. The team looked tired to night, not surprised they played their socks off against Hull. Play offs still reachable, if we lost tonight then I'd would have said the play offs are doubtful, but no play offs still hugely possible.

Team For Posh would be- 5-3-2 Formation

Kasper

Peilter

Morgan

St Ledger

Mills

Konchesky

Bamba

Marshall

Drinkwater

Beckford

Schlupp

Bench

Nugent (let's see Nugent come off the bench for the winner)

King

Tunchev

Hopper

Kennedy

Dyer

Poor showing, didn't really look like scoring. Thought Bamba had his moments and can see him playing further up a little more in the future. Not much else to speak about. Drinkwater was poor IMO but he's still new so hoping he'll get some games under his belt and bed in nicely to the team next season. Play offs are a distant dream now so hopefully we can at least end the season on a high. Still a possibility, but we'd have to win all but 1 think to stand a chance.

Can we not have a complete performance or two, fvcking hell, one week it's the attack letting us down, the next week the defence, the next the midfield.

Had one against Hull? That was pretty complete. I don't usually use the tiredness excuse but 4 games in 9 days including an away day at Chelsea is pretty pressing on the players. Especially the ones that play every game e.g Nugent, St. Ledger, Konchesky, Peltier etc.

A frustrating night's work.

Onto the next one with clear heads and if we win we could be right on the verge of 6th.

Posted

Very frustrating.

We need to be quicker on the attack

Atmosphere seemed to suffer because of the very low amount of away fans ; is that Forest's worse support for a League game in Leicester ?

Eh John Bishop is a stand up comiedian did you see the performance he put in ? They are profesional Sportsmen they should be fit enough to play 3 times a week if needed .I work as a roof Tiler which can be bloody hard work 8 hours a day for 5 days a week . Last night was the worst local Derby I have ever been to where was the Atmophere and Passion ? Still I wont give up till it is impossible hope we turn up for Posh looking forwards to that one :scarf: :scarf:

Having read this thread I have to ask - "What did you expect Forest to do?"

We got dicked in January in a one-off Cup game where there had to be a winner, and it turned out to be Lesta. Yesterday was a league game and the first priority has to be DON'T LOSE - we didn't.

As far as "parking the bus" goes, you need to take a look at the official stats:

Possession 54% - 46% a more than acceptable proportion of play for an away team to have.

Shots 9 - 6

On target 5 - 1

Fouls 10 - 6

We were playing a team 9 places above us in the league, don't tell me that you wouldn't be happy if your team performed in exactly the same way at the ground of, say, Southampton or Reading and came away with a point!

And please don't try and hide the disappointing attendance behind remarks about Forest's away following. OK we didn't bring many (we have sold more tickets for Palace on Saturday) bit if we had brought 3000 that would have made the attendance a shade over 25,000 - in a 32,500 capacity stadium! This for a team on the fringes of the play-offs.
