The People's Hero Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Confirmed we need a striker who can hold the ball up well, Emile would do. Yes. We need someone like that. Definitely. Despite the squad being reasonably large, a lot of the players are samey and many of them are now out on loan. I think NP has quite a bit of work to do over the summer to balance this up. Depending on what system/formation he goes for next year I think we need at least the following: 1) A striker who is comfortable back to goal, can hold the ball up and bring others in. Doesn't really even need to be prolific, but would help if chipped in with say 10 goals and ideally a threat from set pieces (Emile?) 2) A midfield enforcer. Not necessarily a thug - and certainly someone with a bit of know how, experience and guile. Not just ball winner, but move starter. Think Neil Lennon. 3) A genuine out and out right winger who can cross a ball and isn't afraid to do so early (see point 1 - this chap should be in or around box) - think Steve Guppy.
Carl the Llama Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Who needs cheering up? Apparently Shearer thinks Hoddle should be in the England reckoning.
Oxshottfox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Just unlucky tonight. Nothing at all dropped for us in the box. Another game and we could have had a few ricochets and bang the goal in. Bit worried to see Howard on though but not like we had much choice.
ScouseFox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Watched it on a stream. We missed Danns. There was no energy, everything was slow, too long to build up and turning defence into attack took at least two or three minutes each time. It was very boring, Dyer had a chance, Marshall had a decent effort, other than that, nothing.
Captain... Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 That was our 8th game in March and most of our starting line-up have played all of them, we looked slow and tired, is it really surprising? Nugent, Dyer and Marshall all looked tired in the second half, and injuries has meant that our options were a teenager and a pensioner. It sounds like excuses, but you add that to the fact we had a defender in the midfield, 2 20 year olds still finding their feet playing a team that were looking to spoil the game slow it down and a ref that couldn't control the game and stop their physical tactics and time wasting. Saying all that we were the better team and should have won, but a point is not a disaster.
lcfcsnow Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 What in gods name are we doing still bringing Steve Howard on for? Moving Nugent up front would have been far more effective. Get a grip Pearson and let him go, he is finished.
m00nie Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 1 win and a draw off the play-offs and people are saying season over ??? come on you seriously need your ****ing heads looking at we played very well imho we just couldnt break them down as everytime we got the ball almost every forest player charged back towards their own box we played very well yet how many shots on target?? we couldnt break them down so fail to see how thats playing very well.. how is it 1 win and 1 draw away? are you guranteing ALL the other teams will lose there games then??
The Year Of The Fox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Players didn't look up for it tonight. No spark at all. They came for a point and got one. But you can't break down a team playing in that manner by playing hoofball
Guest shearfox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Forest frustrated us tonight, possibly one of the most boring teams I have seen come to the KP this season...
Corky Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 We can't finish top now, but we're also unable to finish in the bottom two, so that's the silver lining.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Tonight we also looked really brainless. The choosing of options on te last ball re it upally was poor, we would get into a good position and cock it up. So frustrating and so disappointing. We aren't good enough really but we should be nearer or even in the playoffs. Just about every game is must win.

I think these factors all contributed to a very flat performance but it's not the end of the world.
biggs Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Anyone worried the next 5 games are v teams below us? Should be a good run in
StanSP Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Pearson RE Mills: 'Go to Kettering tomorrow, you'll see him play'. . Mills ain't being selected for 1st team any time soon.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Play-offs this year would have been nice, but deep down we've known it wasn't going to happen since Barnsley. With any luck we'll add 3 or 4 new faces over the summer, improve the squad and have a good go at it next year with a group of players to be proud of
Bert Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 6 points from our next two games and it's a good 5/6 game run we've had, Currently 4 games unbeaten in the league!

With 7 games left it's too early to quit believing even if it is Leicester. Great thing about this team it'll keep taking hope away then give it back. I'm still hopeful
Out Foxed Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 ol drinky's final ball decisions were terrible. if a team is going to pack the box we need to learn to bring them out and not just resort to floating shitty balls over the top.
Tielemans63 Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 As I've said in another thread it might be beneficial to give the lads a few days off to charge their batteries before the Posh game. Think there was a serious lack of energy out there tonight - it was a very lethargic performance. Some proper time to recuperate might be just the ticket.
Kitchandro Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 Well that was shit. The fans were fvcking wank. All I heard all night was 'shit chant' etc. Absolute bunch of fat useless retards. Great atmosphere against Hull and then we serve up that passionless crap against those scumbags. Team wasn't much better. Pathetic performance.
StanSP Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 I can only echo Pearson's post-match comments. Very positive despite today's drab performance. 6 points off 4th. That's all there is to it!
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 They had a game plan, stuck to it and we didn't have the quality to break them down, especially in the final third. I don't think I've seen such an impassionate Derby game either.

I said the same thing on the last page - I was genuinely shocked at how poor the atmosphere was. I don't think I've ever been at a local derby with such a subdued atmosphere - it was very weird. I guess the non-event on the pitch didn't help.
Bettsj2 Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 6 points from our next two games and it's a good 5/6 game run we've had, Currently 4 games unbeaten in the league! THIS I hate the fact then when we dont win, a great number of our supporters turn into 6 year old girls.
