Forest Post Match

Yes Forest were poor, negative and unambitious, we were not much better, we lacked any real cutting edge. We did not get the ball in to the dangerous areas enough, we lacked energy, craft and decisivness. I thought we rally missed Dann's presence. In the unlikely event of nicking a play off place we won't go far with performances like that. Forest? can't blame them for playing for a point, that's their perogative, if we have play off ambition we need to knock teams like Forest over.

Having read this thread I have to ask - "What did you expect Forest to do?"

We got dicked in January in a one-off Cup game where there had to be a winner, and it turned out to be Lesta. Yesterday was a league game and the first priority has to be DON'T LOSE - we didn't.

As far as "parking the bus" goes, you need to take a look at the official stats:

Possession 54% - 46% a more than acceptable proportion of play for an away team to have.

Shots 9 - 6

On target 5 - 1

Fouls 10 - 6

We were playing a team 9 places above us in the league, don't tell me that you wouldn't be happy if your team performed in exactly the same way at the ground of, say, Southampton or Reading and came away with a point!

And please don't try and hide the disappointing attendance behind remarks about Forest's away following. OK we didn't bring many (we have sold more tickets for Palace on Saturday) bit if we had brought 3000 that would have made the attendance a shade over 25,000 - in a 32,500 capacity stadium! This for a team on the fringes of the play-offs.

The Notts Florest fans were embarrassingly poor as usual. A lot of foxes stayed away but what was there to be exited about when we knew that florest would be parking the bus and timewasting for half the game. At least the sheep and the chavs tried to give us a game. Goes to show that the saying is true, real football fans in notts support County and Mansfield. They shouldn't flatter themselves into thinking that they are rivals. We just dislike and pity them the same as chavs and sheep.

I'm surprised there's so much negativity about the atmosphere last night. I thought our fans were in excellent voice for much of the evening, perhaps tailing off towards the end when the frustration levels grew. I had no problem with our application last night, we tried darn hard, but we lacked the guile to open up a resolute Forest who were a different proposition to just two months ago.

It's all about momentum, and we've never had any this season. I fancy if the same squad of players gains 7 out of the first 9 points next season, we will remain in the top three or four. However I think we will make 4 or 5 judicious additions to the squad, and dispense with the Tunch, sadly, big Steve, with gratitude for his efforts, Gallagher and Vassell. We'll need to clarify the Paintsil situation, as he seems to have been on compassionate leave since the African Cup of Nations. Otherwise we'll leave the defence as is. Most of our strengthening will be in midfield. We'll also have to make strategic decisions on whether Mills and Beckford are part of the future at the King Power.

That's the homework I'd set Nige. Then I'd back him to the hilt.

Watched the game on a very decent HD stream from Truelife, registered myself and set up the stream early, was very nearly perfect........

What a complete waste of time, dreadful game, poor performance, thank heavens I didn't relent and go, as I had half a mind to do after a fairly positive display on saturday....... :glare:

From what I could see it was a fairly typical performance, lacking much in the way of a gameplan, no focus and little intensity. The ref allowed Forest to bully us with a succession of iffy tackles, mainly from behind and we were simply worn down to the extent that we produced nothing second half.

Unlike saturday when Beckford appeared to do well, last night he was isolated with little support, with no options he seemed to lose interest quite quickly and virtually disappeared second half.

There were few, if any positives from the game, Bamba was impressive defensively and in possession but his passing, particularly early in the game was woeful. A bit of energy from Marshall and Dyer early on faded quickly and the rest was pretty much dross.

Drinkwater was ineffective, slow and ponderous, the link to the attacking players was poor with the exception of a couple of driving runs from Bamba, all in all a display that pretty much summed up our season.

And if you think that is negative, you should have seen what I (very nearly) posted last night...... ;)

Given we won 2-0 at Southampton, I'd have to disagree with you on this one...

If we are still bringing on Steve Howard next year as our targetman threat, then we will not be promoted.

He wouldn't even be on the bench if we had a completely fit squad.

I don't particularly want my team to go away and set up for a draw.

And as we've won at Southampton that argument falls flat.

They were celebrating at the end like they'd won the league!

Good job they dont care about us! (the 24K attendance clearly shows we dont care about them either!)

This is so fvcking pathetic. Who gives a shit? It means something to some it doesn't to others. Give it a rest. Nobody cares who cares any more.

Anyway, Forest parking the bus at our place is nothing new.

They've done it for the past five visits or so (although last night may've been more evident).

Atmosphere was terrible. Forest support numbers wise was poor, our support numbers wise was poor - not sure why. I would have guessed they'd bring 2800-3000 and we would have had a decent 27000 crowd.

Forest did a great job last night, they were physical and did park the bus but so ****ing what. They came for a point and got it. Defensively they were strong. Despite all the crosses we put in we didnt really look like scoring - aerieally they were far better. We ran out of ideas, brains, and execution. Nevermind, roll on Posh!

The best part of the night was Forest's shameful contradictions;

"We only hate Derby!"

followed by

"We'll never be mastered by you Leicester bastards!"

followed by

"It's Forest and Derby, you're all on your own!"

and topped off with

"Build a bonfire! Build a bonfire! Put the Derby on the top! Put the Leicester in the middle and we'll burn the fvcking lot!"

A bunch of geniuses, that lot.

The fact we had a higher average attendance than you last year when you spend the whole season battling auto promotion has obviously passed you by............

Should be against the rules of football ;)

Instead of faffing with a pathectic respect campaign the FA should ban this sort of football to improve our game.

Except of course we didn`t did we. Instead we went to Southampton , played them off the park and won. Then went to Reading, tried to take the game to them, but they beat us, but at least we had a go.

I left last nights game, feeling like i may as well have sat at home and stared at nothing, because thats what it felt like down there.

While your clubs tactics didn`t help the game, i still feel it was up to us to impose ourselves and have the nous to actually break your lot down, sadly we didn`t, and it made for a dirge of a game.
