Forest Post Match

Tonight we also looked really brainless. The choosing of options on te last ball re it upally was poor, we would get into a good position and cock it up.

So frustrating and so disappointing. We aren't good enough really but we should be nearer or even in the playoffs. Just about every game is must win.

It wasn't only the wrong choice of options.

The front two didn't give us any.

The lack of quick movement into space was very apparent.

I said the same thing on the last page - I was genuinely shocked at how poor the atmosphere was. I don't think I've ever been at a local derby with such a subdued atmosphere - it was very weird.

I guess the non-event on the pitch didn't help.

Was ok in L1 I thought. Certainly no worse than usual anyway.

Tired, flat performance which lacked any sort of energy. Cotternil like last year with Portsmouth was happy to time waste and erect a brick wall to stop any decdnt football being played. We hadnt a clue how to break them down and looked to ne suffering from our efforts on Saturday. To go up you have to break these sides down, be able to play week in week out and unfortunately we haven't and will probably just fall short. It was never going to happen today, midfield was severely depleted and Bamba was at centre back most the game

On a side note if we get a manager like Cotterill any time soon, I wont go. I couldnt pay my money week in week out to get excited at Andy Reid getting over the halfway line. Having said that had we had Reid today we'd have won, created something out of nothing by seeing a pass nobody else did.

We bring on Howard yet when he always won the ball no player helped him out, just stuck to their positions!

2 points lost and even though it's still possible to get in the play-offs, I don't think we will get there, we are not good enough.

Did the other player have a doughnut tied to him?

Pains me to say, but fair play to Forest. They worked hard, they kept their shape well, they were quick to close and quick to get back into position.

I don't think we played that badly considering Forest's tactics and the fact we had one fit natural central midfielder, I was surprised by the boos.

I wouldn't have stuck with 433 for so long, as it clearly wasn't working. Nugent is our biggest goal threat and his not as effective out wide.

We were f**king diabolical, so frustrating looks like the playoff dream is over......(or was it over a long time ago) the sooner the mathematical situation arises the better.

What in gods name are we doing still bringing Steve Howard on for? Moving Nugent up front would have been far more effective.

Get a grip Pearson and let him go, he is finished.

Why do you think Pearson keeps on bringing on the big man?

It's because the front players don't win anything aerially or keep the ball at feet.

The problem is.... Neither does Big Steve anymore.

lol

An effective target bloke would be the first of my summer additions.

To be fair what is the point in bringing him on then kicking the ball the opposite side to him thus meaning he has to run 20 yards to get near it. If hes a target man the target him.

That has to be one of the most boring matches I have ever watched.

Both teams were utter shocking and never looked like scoring.

Drinkwater slowed everything down, and Beckford did nothing.

Only players who deserve credit are, Morgan, St Ledger and Bamba at least they played well enough, and dismantled Forest's attacks.

I agree...

I think Howard's best days are long gone but what chance does he really get, coming on for the last ten each time and everyone expecting him to work some sort of miracle?

lol

And I watched most of the headers he won.. Believe me, neither Beckford nor Schlupp were anywhere near them.

we've got too many players thinking they're better than they actually are ! and what did pearson think howard was going to do ?

I think we have too many fans thinking we are better than we are too maybe?

Me included tonight.. I predicted and had ten on a three one City win.

Very flat tonight. Never looked like creating anything especially in the 2nd half. Although Forest 'parked the bus', they had much more clear cut chances than us.

? Did Forest create many 'clear cut chances '?

I can't remember many? Any?

People need to really look at our options today before slating too much, extremely limited with who we could play and the formations available.

Whilst the CM's weren't bad, we lacked any direction from the middle for me. Drinkwater especially seemed to lose his way and run out of ideas.

Bamba was exceptionable and terrible in equal measure. The number of times he does the hard stuff only to ruin it with a poor ball is frustrating. But all things considered he contributed well and is a good option, just perhaps not when you are pushing for a win.

Erm, what were their clear cut chances?

We had Dyer who shot wide and Marshall who had a great shot saved well by Camp.

I genuinely cannot remember any of theirs.

****ing shit game, just 90 minutes of cancelling eachother out.

Bringing on Howard does absolutely fvck all and the sooner Pearson realises the better.

Your usual balanced post Babs...

I disagree with you over Drinkwater though. I don't think his teammates gave him 'any ideas'..

I reckon he's going to be an exceptional player for City for years to come.
