foxesfan1989 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 ...of recent times? Is it Pearson selling Gradel? Letting Hobbs and Fryatt go to Hull? Letting Leon Crncic slip through our hands? (joke). So who do we think? I reckon Hobbs is the biggest error. He went from being player of the season one year to being sold for a fairly small fee the next. Money-wise though it has to be Gradel, worth millions just a couple of years later.
Guest parky0607 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 All of the above! For me it's got to be Fryatt, we never gave him a chance after he came back from his jaw break and then he was dog meat pretty soon after that and we were franctically searching for a striker... didnt make sense.
svensson Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Hobbs, was overated, he was one of the worst centre backs at heading a ball i have ever seen, he loved to duck under it!! I agree with Gradel, but there was obv a falling out. how is he getting on these days? Letting Ian hume go was a big loss for me.
foxesfan1989 Posted 9 April 2012 Author Posted 9 April 2012 Iain Hume good shout, i loved him during his time here. Although he did kind of leave us because he didnt want to play in L1, rather than us not wanting him.
RizLCFC Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Thats what happens when you chop and change managers, Sven didn't give Fryatt or Hobbs a chance that was a major error in my opinion, also Pearson selling Gradel has to be one if the biggest mistakes the club has made in the near history. But then Pearson came back, he hasn't given Pantsil a chance which I think he should've had, he also got rid if Gelson Fernandes who was our best midfielder at the time, not forgetting the fall outs he's had.
stourbridgefox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 I watched the 2009-10 season video this morning and even though I never got on Fryatt's back, I don't think I appreciated him while he was here. He looked dangerous with the ball and I can't believe we got rid of him for £1.2 million. I also didn't realise at the time how many mistakes from Weale cost us goals. I remember the point-blank reaction saves but he was less convincing when he had time to think about how to deal with a ball. So to answer your question, I would like to have Fryatt pushing Beckford and Nugent.
Cropwellfox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Gradel - how Pearson and Walsh didn't see he'd be worth millions is beyond me.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Gradel. Damn near broke my heart when I heard he was going to Leeds for pennies
Petchy Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Definitely Gradel. He looked bloody special in that pre-season friendly against Brum and impressed from there onwards! Unfortunately, personal falling out deprived us of seeing him play to his true potential.
Captain... Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Iain Hume good shout, i loved him during his time here. Although he did kind of leave us because he didnt want to play in L1, rather than us not wanting him. I would agree with that, we didn't sell him he wanted to leave. I think with Gradel, Fryatt, Hobbs and Morrison it wasn't so much that we sold them it was the criminally small amount we sold them for. Biggest mistake though was selling/releasing Collymore.
Fox92 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 In recent times, I would say Hobbs. Always thought Gradel was average and wasn't good enough for the Championship. Fair play to him though, he was good for Leeds and they sold him for a profit.
Aleksz Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 was hoping this would be "clubs biggest spelling error" and you'd spelt spelling wrong
dave the caveman Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Definitely Gradel. He looked bloody special in that pre-season friendly against Brum and impressed from there onwards! Unfortunately, personal falling out deprived us of seeing him play to his true potential. Nigel Pearson falling out with good players to the detriment of the club? How times have chang.......oh, wait.
Bettsj2 Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 I would agree with that, we didn't sell him he wanted to leave. I think with Gradel, Fryatt, Hobbs and Morrison it wasn't so much that we sold them it was the criminally small amount we sold them for. Biggest mistake though was selling/releasing Collymore. Especially the circumstances surrounding it. Taking the side of the Benj over that of Stan. Just yet another example of the poor management of Peter Taylor.
svensson Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Especially the circumstances surrounding it. Taking the side of the Benj over that of Stan. Just yet another example of the poor management of Peter Taylor. Wasnt it because of the La Manga fire extinguisher incident? What did Benj have to do with it?
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Hume jumped ship when we went down. I lost a lot of respect for him when he did that. Plus a) you don't want players a club who haven't got the will to stick around and clear up their own mess and b) his departure enabled the Fryatt/Howard partnership to blossom. For those reasons I don't miss him. Hobbs, Fryatt and Gradel would be my three. Let them go so cheaply as well. Flipping moronic.
katieakita Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Joachim Thought he never recovered from his foot injury and we did bring in Claridge
AyewJoking Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Hume must kick himself for leaving us. We went straight back up while he went to Barnsley and got assaulted then to Preston and got relegated to the level he thought he was too good for.
Webbo Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Wasnt it because of the La Manga fire extinguisher incident? What did Benj have to do with it? I've heard; Collymore racially abused Tricky Trev at half time during a reserve match so Benjamin chinned him.
