Clubs biggest selling error

I was also gutted when we sold Paul Kitson, it was a while ago now and I don't remember if we could have kept him and just cashed in, or if he wanted to leave.

Thats what happens when you chop and change managers, Sven didn't give Fryatt or Hobbs a chance that was a major error in my opinion, also Pearson selling Gradel has to be one if the biggest mistakes the club has made in the near history. But then Pearson came back, he hasn't given Pantsil a chance which I think he should've had, he also got rid if Gelson Fernandes who was our best midfielder at the time, not forgetting the fall outs he's had.

To be fair, Pantsil wasn't getting a look in when Sven was here. Don't know what's going on with him. Maybe he doesn't put the effort in during training? Pearson did not get rid of Fernandes. Fernandes was only here as a favour to Sven, and wasn't going to hang around for any other manager. I think Fernandes left days before Pearson returned. There's no way we could have held onto him without keeping Sven here. Gradel wanted 1st team football, but we couldn't guarantee it, so he was allowed to leave. I do think we should have sold him for a lot more than we did, though.

Lots of negative energy over something that cant be changed.

Some Managers favour a player, another comes along and doesn't rate them, it happens at all clubs.

As for Gradel I think we all know what Nigel thinks of your Bertie Big Bollocks type of player, so no one should be surprised.

Gradel, lol... he was a bit part player who went on to become a bit part player in the 3rd tier it was a while before he established himself. People really need to get over that. Also Pearson only sanctioned the sale if it wasn't to a rival, Manderic & Hoos went behind his back, peoples lack of faith & believing lies & idiots agendas is baffling

Hobbs was a shame, he was replaced by people no better if not worse & at his age he still had time to be coached to be better, rather than having a shitty attitude.

The worst sale of all time was Heskey, we had a real chance & a manager who could of established us near the top of the domestic game, who knows what might have been if we had built on that lofty base... rather than dismantling it.

He wanted to leave and we got £11million for him. I thought that was a bit of good business.

No-one thinking Mcauley or Stearman? Both Prem players now (well...Stearman is until May)

It depends if you are talking about players we sold or players that have left the club, both of them left because we got relegated and they didn't want to play in League 1, we didn't make a mistake selling them, we couldn't keep them.

I dont think anyone is STILL angry about these things, just good to reminisce!

It was good biz, but the sale was a statement of intent that we had reached our glass ceiling whereas everything just clicked into place for us to have the chance of breaking through it.

Gareth Mcauley I thought it was a bad move to lose but understand we had to get rid or he wanted to? Stearman all be it only from watching MOTD has looked alot better in the last few games than he did earlier or last season, saying that Wolves are still dog.

Hume was a terrible player who people loved because he ran around a lot. People loved him becuase he chased the ball. As a forward he was never in the right place at the right time. Over rated and money we got for him was money well received!

To all the people saying Hume jumped ship, according to knowitall (for those who remember him / her), he wanted to stay but was told unequivocally that he was being sold and not given any choice in the matter.

I wouldn't say he was a particularly big selling error but without his effort and goals towards the end of 07-08 season (whilst being played out of position a lot of the time) we'd have had far less of a chance of staying up than we eventually did (not that that ultimately made any difference, but anyway).
