onecapwonder Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Pelts has been responsible for lots of the oppositions goals this season, he is always out of position! Both Pearson and Sven told Peltier to play high up the pitch, sometimes he's been practically a right winger, if hes too far forward and being told to play there one of the midfielders need to cover him. The fact that we concede a lot of goals this way yet Peltier keeps playing suggests Pearson wants him there and he accepts that its a risk defensively. He was in the wrong for the goal, but not clearing the ball doesn't have much to do with positioning.
The Guvnor Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Cracking cross from marshall, for the goal ! Pelts you dont stand still and watch the ball roll past you f>cking run towards it and clear it woeful!
ta-fc Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 In short we've stopped playing football and resorted to lumping it forward to no one... And I give you Wes Morgan ladies dans gentlemen! I don't get the impression DD is a "sitter" and King was tried there and looked out of sorts. If Wellen's isn't going to be around next season, or is but plays fewer matches I think its a position we really need to look at. None of DD, King or Danns convince me as deep lying midfielders all seem to be better as box to box players.
Ashley Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 We need to stop going route one. Reid & Tompkins will clear everything up like in the first half. Great goal from Beckford!
lcfcsnow Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 I fear for the 2nd half with King in a mIdfield two, he just hasnt got what it takes and is being shown up tonight.

Danns is our best box-to-box Wellens does his best work in the opposing half & his lack of pace seems to be highlighted when he's on the defence DD - Don't think we've seen the best of yet, certainly nothing approaching his Barnsley display when he bossed it King - Is a great player to have in a good side, we're not a good side so although I like him, he's a bit of a luxury We don't have a Lennon type player who just sits in front of the defence mops it all up and does simple 10 yard passes to box-to-box runner or just lays it out-wide All IMO of course
Corky Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Second best, no fight in the challenge, one bit of quality has kept us in the game. We need a massive improvement in the second half.
5waller5 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Just read the rest of the comments - seems just me enjoying it then!!!!!! Next time someone accuses me of negativity please note!!!!! Although quite how people think Marshall has had a good game is beyond even the optimist in me!!

He was in the wrong for the goal, but not clearing the ball doesn't have much to do with positioning. What are you talking about? Firstly, he never gets forward. I can't remember the last time he got near the opposition box and threatened. Even if he did, his crossing is piss poor. He has no excuse for being out of position because he never contributes to attacks, yet he's always nowhere when they're going down the left. His positioning was a lot to do with that goal, it should have been him in the right back position closing one of the two players down, because he's a right back, instead of the two midfielders. And then he didn't clear it when it came across. He's inexcusably terrible.
Milton Keynes Fox Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 I fear for the 2nd half with King in a mIdfield two, he just hasnt got what it takes and is being shown up tonight. Really? i thought he's been playing well

And the midfield as a whole is too lightweight for this level, even creative players need a certain amount of physical strength. King, Dyer and Drinkwater are extremely weak and it limits them, King especially.
Corky Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 King, Drinkwater and Marshall (though his set up for the goal was good) have been poor tonight. We're being overrun in midfield.

Abe freed Wellens up to be more attacking but also had the legs to get forward and give Wellens a break sometimes. Both of them could do a decent job defensively and allow King to play as a no 10, more like Lampard than a classic Totti/Riquelme style 10. Both Abe and Wellens had good distribution which took some pressure off King, I don't think passing is his best attribute and it shows sometimes when he plays in a midfield two, in a three he can focus much more on late runs into the box and being an attacking threat in general.
Tielemans63 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 The old boy sat on the row in front of me just shouted "****in' ell Pearson get Kingy on!". Don't think he was taking the piss either! Made everyone around us laugh! Not a bad half but we are badly exposed in central midfield. If West Ham get their act together we'll get smashed second half.
Webbo Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Although quite how people think Marshall has had a good game is beyond even the optimist in me!! Apart from the cross for the goal he's been dreadful.
RyanB89 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 no it's awful west Ham are just passing through midfields for fun, it's like DD & King aren't even there this
cc_star Posted 23 April 2012 Author Posted 23 April 2012 Terrible goal to concede looking at the replays Think it was King doing the pressing out-wide, Drinky was there watching the over-lap but he never continued the run to block the cross & Peltier was at the near post and never reacted to cut it out

Peltier was way up the pitch, even in this game hes been at the back post for a number of left wing crosses!
darko2k7 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 West ham showing us up to be what we are atm average ! Person needs to get into them at half time a tighten that midfield up .

Peltier was way up the pitch, even in this game hes been at the back post for a number of left wing crosses! Since Sven was sacked he's been like this. Awful defender who offers nothing, even if he did get forward and effect the game frequently, which he doesn't. He rarely advances when in possession and he certainly doesn't put in any good crosses or get behind the defence.
champions 08/09 Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 tbh i think beckford and marshall have played well, and dyer was a threat when he came on although at the back we havent been anything special morgan stopped a 1 on 1 early on but peltier sometimes doesn't seem to work back as hard a konchesky tbh

chapmanleicester Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 you can tell the big difference in quality in the sides to be fair it's not the players fault, they are just a lot better than us
The Padster Posted 23 April 2012 Posted 23 April 2012 Feel sorry for Birch, having to plead with the fans to stay behind for a lap of 'honour'.
