IdiotequeFox Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 Do you think they would go back up again? - as much as it pains me to admit it, a season in the Championship could do their young players good and give'em experience as they have a quality youth set up that and a forward thinking manager and with a bit of help from older players.
Nationwider Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 They could do a Newcastle for sure. Lerner will have a big call to make with McLeish though. I hope they come down - we've always had a bit of a hex over them in the last 20 years or so, and I could be teased out of semi-retirement for a jaunt to Villa Park.

As funny as it would be, we really don't need a team like Villa coming down if we want promotion. We could also do with West Ham getting promoted really.

I could see them running away with it next year; they have way too many options up front and if you give a guy like Allardyce time at this level to build a side, he will deliver promotion - just like a Coppell or a Warnock would.
HEGGSY Posted 24 April 2012 Posted 24 April 2012 To think a few years ago they were competing for European places under MON and now they're nothing more than relegation fodder.
BlueSi13 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 To think a few years ago they were competing for European places under MON and now they're nothing more than relegation fodder. Yet they still have major beef with O'Neill. A spell out of the Premier League will do the club a world of good in my opinion. Been making up the numbers for almost two decades now.
Leicesterpool Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Don't remind me! Soon as McLeish is out the results will go Villa's way.
jonthefox Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 As has been said. t he less teams of villa's stature in the championship, the better.
goose2010 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 They would have a quality championship team alot of young talent with a mix of experience they would sell the likes of bent, given and agbonlahor but still have good young players they good bring in. I went to watch them on saturday and they were poor to be fair against an average Sunderland team. Like someone else has said why do they hate Martin O'Neill ?? he got loads of abuse from the home fans on Saturday.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 My dream relegation this year would have been Villa, QPR, Wolves i hope it's still possible at the end of the season. Not thinking about going up just really want some decent teams in the Champs next season and some quality away games, Plus we are more likely to win games against teams who play football in his league not ones who play like Chelsea

I felt sorry for MON, I was there saturday myself and I refused to boo, I clapped him in fact and one or two others beside did aswell. Just going to horrible if two of my clubs are going to facing each for promotion!
evs_the_fox Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Sod it, bring the scummers down. I'd be quite happy to have Villa/West Ham etc. in the league, if we can fall under the radar of the 'experts' then all the better. We haven't exactly set the world alight as pre-serason favourites!
AyewJoking Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 McLeish took Birmingham down last season and Villa are on the brink this season. Surely he has to go.
Soar Fox Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Took Birmingham down twice and now doing his best to take Villa down too
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Would love it if they did come down, just cant see it.
Fox92 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Would be a great away day. Only been to Villa Park once and that was a 3-1 defeat in 2003/04, think Vassell scored actually. Got this new lad at work. He's from Wolverhampton and supports Villa.
goose2010 Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 having looked at the remaining fixtures for QPR and Villa I think villa will get out of it......just! QPR Chelsea (A) Stoke (H) Man City (A) Bolton Sunderland (A) Spurs (H) West Brom (H) Stoke (A) VILLA West Brom (A) Spurs (H) Norwich (A)

Been making up the numbers for almost two decades now. To be fair, Villa's best Prem days were not under O'Neill, under Atkinson they finished 2nd, under Little they finished 4th, under Gregory they were Premier League leaders before they faded and under O'Leary they finished 6th too.
Leicesterpool Posted 25 April 2012 Posted 25 April 2012 Bottom Three I think will be- QPR BLACKBURN ROVERS WOLVES Three tough fixtures for QPR, I think Villa are just about going to make it
