Bruce is a great signing for Hull. Quite frustrating that he inherits several of Pearsons quality ex-man u signings, also Bruces core strategy when signing players. Unlikely we will get any Hull targets now.

Just hope Walsh and Nige have got a couple more gems up their sleeve!

Bruce will either stick with what he has and try to go with loans, freebies and one or two buys or will sell to build his own team.

I guess it all depends on whether he rates the players he has or has others in mind.

I'm assuming of course he does not have a huge wad of cash to spend.

Unfortunately for you and Nigel Pearson we have the players you can only dream of! ARF!

Since when did these play for you?

No one is supposed to like us, they are not Leicester City fan sites :)

If we were liked we would be a small plucky club and peeps felt constantly sorry for but would be annoyed to lose against, a bit like Hull lol

It looks as though this deal and any deal for any of the Hull players we've been linked with could well be dead in the water. The stuff below is from the Sky website. It specifically states that Bruce considers it "vital" to keep his young players . Oh well .... Shackell it is then?

Bruce keen to keep Hull stars

Steve Bruce: Wants to keep hold of Hull's talented youngsters as he is targeting the Premier League

Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes it is vital he can convince the club's best players to stay at the KC Stadium next season.

Bruce was appointed as Nick Barmby's successor on Friday and has been backed by Hull's ambitious owners, the Allam family, to strengthen the squad this summer.

But he will be aware of speculation surrounding the likes of Cameron Stewart, Robert Koren, spacer.gifJames Chesterspacer.gif and Liam Rosenior.spacer.gif

"The reason I'm at Hull City is because I believe we have got the ability to get to the Premier League."

Steve Bruce Quotes of the week

That could be a particular issue for Hull given that former boss Nigel Pearson, spacer.gif now in charge at Leicester, spacer.gif is reportedly keen to use his transfer budget to raid his old club.

And while Bruce can appreciate why other clubs will be targeting Hull's players, he is more interested in adding to his squad not losing key members of it.

Positive

"I can't wait to get started because everything has been very positive so far," Bruce said. "We've got some very, very good young players here and I'm impressed with the calibre of player here.

"Obviously we'll look to add to the squad and look to take the team forward.

"It's vital that we keep hold of the young players that we've got though and it's my job along with the chairman to make sure that we do.

"Pretty much all we've spoken about over the last two-and-a-half weeks is the ambition to get the club back into the Premier League.

"We know that won't be easy because there are lots of clubs in the Championship with the same philosophy.

"But the reason I'm at Hull Cityspacer.gif is because I believe we have got the ability to get to the Premier League.

"Certainly when you look at the stadium, fan-base and infrastructure - those are all in place and now we take on the project of getting to where the club wants to be."

This could be just me reading too much into things, but to me that 1st line reads like the best players want to move on, and Bruce is hoping to convince them otherwise.

The truth of the situation is that the players ALL liked Nick Barmby as he was one of them, a player, and highly respected. The manner of his departure was surprising and unsettling to them which was one of the reasons the owners went for such a respected manager as Steve Bruce, also his connections with United were thought to calm the United youngsters.

The players are all off on holiday still and won't even meet him until July 2nd. He will then assess them in training and we go from there.

You can read anything you like into Steve Bruce's words, but part of the reason he came to Hull City AFC is our crop of young players. That added to a generous transfer budget, and our owners dislike of Nigel Pearson really indicates that business between Leicester City and Hull City just isn't going to happen.

Though I think you've posted a lot of silly nonsense over this and other threads, I do think you're probably right on this.

If Dull don't need to sell their prized assets I don't know why Bruce would even consider doing so.

I was under the impression Barmby was sacked after a dispute regarding finances, why would the owners views on that subject change just because the manager has changed? They have got Bruce in because he has got teams out of this devision using limited budgets and what not before, if they want to cut the wage bill they will do...

Or they wanted an excuse to get rid of Barmby and appoint Bruce.

Don't know what silly nonsense you are talking about. I have consistently said since Nigel Pearson left that the owners will not do business with him. I have said we have no financial problems. I have said our players have no desire to leave. If you think that nonsense then so be it, then so be it, but that won't stop it being true.

Sorry to disagree again, but Steve Bruce far, far away from having a reputation of working with limited budgets, quite the opposite.

Nobody will ever find out the truth about Nick Barmby. The vast majority of fans were very disappointed by his sacking and the manner in which it was done. The owners claim that he was given the go-ahead to sign Billy Sharp and a Premier League striker (similar to Roberts) in January and he chose not to. They said that his comments in the press at the end of the season ruined their relationship with him and that was why he was sacked.

The wage bill, as it stands, is where they desire it to be and Steve Bruce will be given substantial funds to improve the squad this Summer.

No, there was no pre-planning of Nick Barmby's removal.

Oh, looks like you already have. :P

Unless you are "in the know" how do you know all of this? Do you know that none of your players want to leave or do you just assume this? Do you know Bruce has x amount to spend or are you assuming this as well? Or like many are you just believing what your local paper is telling you?

Posted

At least Bruce won't be a **** about the whole thing like Adam Pearson was. Some of the comments he made about us were just embarrassing to read.

I meant the truth as to the details. There was no pre-planning, otherwise how come the appointment took 6 weeks, and why would they interview a host of other managers?

Doesn't mean they didn't have him lined up, the Hull fans weren't exactly happy about Barmby's sacking, if they'd instantly appointed someone that would have only made things worse for them.
