MattyFromLE Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 SSL really showed how rubbish he is in the Euro's. No surprise they got hammered in every game with SSL playing at the back ...haha - good one.
flowwolf Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 A bit harsh. We all know he's not world class like some of the players he's had to defend against in the Euro's that doesn't make him a rubbish Championship defender though. No it doesn't but he is.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 Absolutely zero to do with NP until Neville/Top agree a deal with Hull's owners & then NP will be part of the team to show him around and 'sell' Chester his plans for the future & where he fits in before handing back-over to Neville to negotiate with Chester's agent. If you want to split hairs then yes, however I actually meant the concept of the deal!
Dan Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 SSL was MOTM v Italy for me. He was everywhere. Still can't see Chester signing for us.
Harry - LCFC Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 SSL really showed how rubbish he is in the Euro's. No surprise they got hammered in every game with SSL playing at the back I think it was more than just him, Ireland were full of championship players who would never play against a team like Spain in normal circumstances. And it was Spain they were playing against, that team that happens to be world champions, they're not bad you know. I reckon they'd give us a decent game down the KP.
Walshy5 Posted 20 June 2012 Posted 20 June 2012 Ian Stringer @StringerSport #lcfc confirm Sol Bamba has left as was mentioned on The Forum a month agol. The exodus continues, next? The chase for Chester must be close Why does stringer have to be criptic all the time! It does my ****ing head in
kingfox Posted 20 June 2012 Posted 20 June 2012 SSL really showed how rubbish he is in the Euro's. No surprise they got hammered in every game with SSL playing at the back He played well against Croatia and Italy, seemed to read the game well and made some very good blocks. Thought throughout the whole tournament he was one of Ireland's best players.
burni Posted 20 June 2012 Posted 20 June 2012 He played well against Croatia and Italy, seemed to read the game well and made some very good blocks. Thought throughout the whole tournament he was one of Ireland's best players. Agreed he had weaker players in front of him inviting more pressure than an England defender would have for example. Put SSL in and lescott out the current england team and i think he would do an acceptable job. against the likes of spain england could be beaten 3 0 with no major surprise. my point is ssl performances against world class players which he did'nt do too bad at is incomparable to the championship
tomtom Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Taking away his goal and judging him on his defensive displays i thought SSL had a very poor tournament , bad positional play and decision making meant he was at fault for quite a few of the goals they conceded
MattyFromLE Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 I love how many would be "defensive analysts" we have. Gary Neville will be fearing for his job based upon some of the "reviews" of SSL's Euro performances. I can't imagine that dealing with Huddersfield's strike force is any different to Spain's - y'know. THE WORLD ****ING CHAMPIONS. Geeeeez.

Certain basics in football don't change no matter who your playing against , holding the line , not being dragged out of position, turning your back , going to ground too easily etc ... As for other things you can definitely take into account the level of opposition he was playing against
LcFc_Smiv Posted 22 June 2012 Posted 22 June 2012 I thought he had a decent tournament compared to those around him
OLD norfox Posted 22 June 2012 Posted 22 June 2012 I agree ! One of the 3 best performers in an scrappy Irish side
Out Foxed Posted 22 June 2012 Posted 22 June 2012 I agree ! One of the 3 best performers in an scrappy Irish side that's akin to being one of the top 3 singers on a pub karaoke night.
cuddly ken Posted 22 June 2012 Posted 22 June 2012 Read on the Uefa stats that SSL completed more tackles and got on more blocks than any player from all the teams in the group stage. Thought he was decent to be fair, bad move that Pearson will move him. Best defender at the club by far!

Thought he was decent to be fair, bad move that Pearson will move him. Best defender at the club by far! I'm not really sure what any of this has to do with Chester but if he's as good as some on here think then he's just had the perfect shop window for himself and we can no doubt expect a flurry of premier league clubs to come knocking on our door with some big money offers for him. Or could it be that actually he's just pretty average and that despite playing for the ROI many times people in the game who are better qualified than most of us on here haven't seen anything special about him. The fact that some on here think he is the best defender at the club really just goes to illustrate how far as a club we have to go to get a side good enough to be promoted and also to contain at the very least a nucleus of a team good enough to survive in the premier league.
fox_on_tour Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 The Mirror is usually pretty spot on with Leicester news. http://www.mirror.co...-of-hull-813001 Are we allowed to talk about Hull? My earlier post about them was removed for some reason!! just_football_rumors@RH_497Leicester will make an offer of around £3million for James Chester to try and convince Hull to sell.
Grewks Posted 27 June 2012 Posted 27 June 2012 Dont be hold to ransom NP, £3 million is way too much considering we let bamba go for a third of the price.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 29 June 2012 Posted 29 June 2012 If NP rates him that highly & owners are prepared to pay 3Mil then the prospect of his & Morgans partnership looks v good indeed
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 29 June 2012 Posted 29 June 2012 just_football_rumors@RH_497 Leicester will make an offer of around £3million for James Chester to try and convince Hull to sell. another Mills flop then . . . . . .?
dpjfox Posted 29 June 2012 Posted 29 June 2012 is that possible with the new rules? ie if its 6mill max/season, could we spend 3 mill on Chesters considering what weve already spent and leave some for possible future signings? (no idea what this line is thro the text or how to erase it
