Part Of The Crowd Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 League One has seemed really weak this season to me, we've bottled it massively. We had our largest investment in the summer, assembled a really strong side, then failed to perform away or against lower opposition. Most of the teams above us we've played we've won comfortably, but teams below us have proven a massive problem. Bournemouth the best side I've seen this season (Apart from Portsmouth's opening 20 minutes against us at home), rest of the teams at the top are awful though. Gutting to have missed out on even the play offs this season. Wouldn't be surprised to be mid table next season and go down the season after that with investment scaling back.
Kitchandro Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Got another kit gripe, Bournemouth were wearing red and black and the opposition appeared to be wearing almost maroon. Literally could not tell the teams apart until one side started celebrating and the other hung their heads in shame. Also it seems Tranmere have done a Leicester this season, they were top for ages...
StanSP Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 SEVEN teams can still get relegated in League Two. That's gonna be tense next Saturday! Got another kit gripe, Bournemouth were wearing red and black and the opposition appeared to be wearing almost maroon. Literally could not tell the teams apart until one side started celebrating and the other hung their heads in shame. Also it seems Tranmere have done a Leicester this season, they were top for ages... Think it was around Jan/Feb the slip started. Much worse than us, which I thought couldn't be possible (but then look at Middlesbrough - since we beat them they've been in a horrible freefall...shame!).
MC Prussian Posted 21 April 2013 Posted 21 April 2013 Welcome to the Championship, Bournemouth! Should we stay in this division, this is a must-do away trip!
BHAFC Braders Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Tranmere not allowing Bournemouth to lift the trophy tomorrow should they win the league due to " Tranmere Rovers felt that they were not absolutely able to guarantee the safety of all players, match officials and supporters on the day."
StanSP Posted 26 April 2013 Posted 26 April 2013 Lame excuse. Brentford vs Doncaster is huge tomorrow! Still can't believe the fight for survival is between 7 teams in League Two. Although it'd take a lot to relegate Plymouth and Torquay seeing as York play Dag & Red, 2 teams below the south west sides.
Tom17LCFC Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Brentford pen v Doncaster in last minute. Goal sends them up, a miss sends Donny up. EDIT: crossbar wow
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Wimbledon stay up and Barnet go down. EDIT: Brentford miss penalty and Doncaster score from the breakaway. Utter heartbreak for the Bees.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Wimbledon stay up and Barnet go down. EDIT: Brentford miss penalty and Doncaster score from the breakaway. Utter heartbreak for the Bees. Good. Barnet are always escaping on the last day and Wimbledon's fairytale continues.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Good. Barnet are always escaping on the last day and Wimbledon's fairytale continues. Delighted for Wimbledon if I'm honest, cracking little club. Barnet won't be coming back quickly I reckon, new stadium and the BSP has to be one of the toughest leagues to win given how clubs that have gone down have performed in the past. Spare a thought for Aldershot as well; went bust in 1992 and had to start again, won back their league place and are now in the BSP again.
Fox92 Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 So Brentford could have got second and Doncaster would have stayed down. Penalty last minute. They miss it, Doncaster break and score. Doncaster are Champions.
StanSP Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Doncaster potentially could have been third, and in a matter of seconds went to winning the league. Football. You gotta love it. Happy for Doncaster fans. Brentford could still yet join them but I feel for them!
Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 The Doncaster end would have been mental! Just seen them on SSN. Flares, bodies everywhere, people coming onto the pitch. Mental. The Rotherham celebrations were on a whole other level though, pitch invasion the minute the goal was scored.
MC Prussian Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Now that Brentford are facing Swindon in the playoffs, which side do you fancy going up? Are Swindon really that un-likeable? Plus, whom would you like to see making the final from Yeovil and Sheffield United?
VinceNoir Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Didn't some guy have a huge bet on United, Cardiff, Bournemouth and Gillingham winning their respective leagues? Or was that just some made up thing on Twitter? He must have been gutted! Edit: Just read more about it. Think it was fake.
iamafox Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Now that Brentford are facing Swindon in the playoffs, which side do you fancy going up? Are Swindon really that un-likeable? Plus, whom would you like to see making the final from Yeovil and Sheffield United? Brentford will beat Swindon and Sheff Utd will beat Yeovil. Then Sheff Utd will be heartbroken once again when they lose to Brentford on penalties.
Kitchandro Posted 27 April 2013 Posted 27 April 2013 Now that Brentford are facing Swindon in the playoffs, which side do you fancy going up? Are Swindon really that un-likeable? Plus, whom would you like to see making the final from Yeovil and Sheffield United? Don't want Swindon coming up, the other 3 I wouldn't mind. Sheffield Utd are a good club and should be in the Championship, too nice a ground for that league. Yeovil and Brentford would be potentially good away trips.
StanSP Posted 17 May 2013 Posted 17 May 2013 Another racism scandal. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/notts-county-race-storm-club-1894395?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Two Notts County coaches have quit the club after allegations of racist behaviour. The claims were made by two trainees at the League One side, who made official complaints. They were backed up by several other trainees, both black and white. One of the allegations was that one coach, Brett Adams, had thrown a banana - with “f*** off†written on it - to a black youth player and then said: “F*** off and eat it.†It was also claimed that Lead Foundation coach Lee Broster walked into a changing room while the players were listening to rap music and said: “No wonder you black lads always go around stabbing people when you listen to music like that.†Broster is also alleged to have walked into a room, switched off a light and said: “Make sure you black lads smile so I can see you.†The club launched a full investigation after the protests were made to them last month. They found that the black complainants had the backing of their white colleagues. In statements, one player claims to have been shocked at what he had witnessed. A hearing was convened by the club last week and, after a second hearing on Friday, the club announced the two coaches had left. A statement said: “Brett Adams and Lee Broster have resigned from their positions at the club as Youth Coach and Lead Foundation Coach respectively. “We thank them for their service and wish them every success for the future.†Prior to Friday’s hearing, a Notts County spokesman told Mirror Sport: “Unfortunately, as the questions that you have raised relate to an on-going employment issue, the club are unable to make any comment on the matter at the current time.†Two meetings were held between the trainees and the club’s HR manager, Chantelle Gibson, to discuss the allegations, on April 2 and April 18. In statements, one player expresses his concern that he could be released for speaking out but is willing to risk it as he feels the treatment he is receiving is unacceptable. Ironically, Notts County’s manager, Chris Kiwomya, is black. There is no suggestion however that he is aware of any of the incidents. Adams and Broster were unavailable for comment.
MC Prussian Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Good luck to Bradford today - would love to see them getting promoted after their League Cup heroics this season.
StanSP Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Coventry have left Ricoh Arena for good http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-city-chief-left-ricoh-3869400
purpleronnie Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Coventry have left Ricoh Arena for good http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-city-chief-left-ricoh-3869400 insane.
Happy Fox Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 Coventry City fans need to protest or do something to kick out their incompetent owners.
StanSP Posted 18 May 2013 Posted 18 May 2013 1) Is it true that the groundsmen/builders who worked on Ricoh Arena and hid a Leicester City shirt in the foundations underneath the pitch? 2) If so, can we have it back? 3) Can we put it under their next stadium?
