What phone should I get?

Recommended Posts

Evening all.

Been looking online and reading reviews but I was hoping you lot could help me.

Looking for a new phone & I was wondering, what phone does everyone have? Would you recommend it? Not too fussed about price as it'll be taken out on contract so I'm looking at anything.

Has anyone got in particular a Galaxy Samsung S3 or a HTC One X? Both look quite a size.

Not too sure about either, would appreciate it if anyone could provide any feedback on phones!

Cheers.

Adam.

I have got the HTC One X pretty nifty phone tbh, the actual size of the phone is pretty big length and width wise but thats due to the high-res screen, you get used to it after a week or two, other than that its thin and light and works a charm with the quad processer.

Not had any issues with it as of yet.. decent camera as well takes some good pictures for a phone.

can' comment on the S3 though as not seen one yet but the HTC runs smoothly and fast plus you get 50GB of storage.

I've got the Galaxy S3 but also used the One X for a week. There really isn't much to choose between them. The S3 in my opinion is just that little bit quicker, and the screen a bit better and has the added gimmicks which Samsung have added, some work well, some don't. The One X has a better build than the S3 so looks and feels more premium but on the other hand it has no removable back which means you can't interchange batteries nor can you add an SD card. Personally I prefer the design of the S3 and the plastic feels quite nice but again there isn't much to choose between them. Neither feel too big and in fact both are a great advertisement for big phones, the cameras are roughly the same but I think the One X just shades it as the S3's camera is the same as the S2's and the operating system is the same. The battery is better on the S3 (HTC are never good with batteries). I might be biased because I have one but I think overall the S3 is just a little better and some of the things it has on it won't become mainstream for another 18 months, and I genuinely think that in 18 months apart from the next HTC and the S4 it will still be the best around.

You can't go wrong with either but I like the S3 a little more, as long as you don't have an IPhone you've got it right.

Got the S3, had it for a week now and it's an amazing phone so far. Battery life is pretty average however I run my emails and everything else under the sun off it. The phone itself runs smoothly, loads everything quickly, doesn't lag at all and it's all round performance is quality. The size is a little on the large side however it is very slim and very comfortable to hold, I even had to check my pockets the other night while I was out in town as it felt as if it wasn't there and I feared I'd lost it. Don't think you can get it for any cheaper than £35 on a contract for the moment, obviously gets bumped up a bit more for insurance,

Thanks a lot.

Making me lean towards getting the s3. Heard about the battery life being poor regarding the HTC. Cheers for taking the time to type your opinions, appreciate it.

O2, but open to any network recommendations. Its the only network I've ever used and I've never encountered any real issues.

Going to go for something around 300 minutes, unlimited texts & half GB internet data. Not for definite, mind.

iPhone?

I'd veer away from HTC as I've got one and am not impressed at all. Went in with high expectations but it's really temperamental... buttons don't work all the time and take several clicks to get it to work, the battery isn't too bad, but then it'll depend on usage. It'll get drained if you use it for calls a lot...

I work for O2. You'd end up paying a fair bit upfront for the handsets you are mentioning on 300 mins. Look at the on and on tariff for £36 a month, unlimited calls, texts and 1GB data.

Had my S2 a week.. and im still sporting a hard on for it :)

Couldve had the S3, but thought it was too big for comfortable use, the S2 does it all and is elcheapo. Plus its a Samsung, leaders in Phone tech now.

plus its NOT an apple, so you dont have to be a complete willy puller

edit.. Im so Jealous of phone and internet pricing in the UK, when we were there, i was paying HALF what i costs me here and with the broadband i have slower speeds and limited downloads :(

iPhone 5

Ha Ha.

Someones gonna say it's just a stop gap untill they release the iPhone 6 etc. etc.

My friend has the Galaxy s2 and it's a stunning phone but feels very plastic(Y). I have the HTC HD and it has a aluminium casing.

It's been dropped tons of times, and although it has a few marks on it there are no dents at all. I don't think the Samsung would take to such punishment.

Battery lifes not great but i connect to my comp. at work all day so not a problem for me.

My mate has got a galaxy s2, they are quite large as they're basically a small tablet computer in a phone. Seems to be pretty good though. Only downside with Samsung is their charger plugs and sockets are usually pretty flimsy, not sure about the galaxy though. I'm going to get a Blackberry curve 9320 from Virgin for 12.99 a month as i'm a Virgin customer. 200 minutes + 500 texts to any network, 500mb web, 3000 minutes to other Virgin mobiles, Blackberry messenger and mail. Pretty cheap for a decent phone

to be honest if you think like that then you will never buy anything new. i got a 4S about 6 months back as my 3GS was running slow as hell and the centre home button kept jamming so but still people shit themselves "omg iphone 5 is out sooooon you knows??!!!111!!!" yet 6 months later my 4S is still running brilliantly and this iphone 5 is nowhere to be seen or heard.

s2 is decent a few mates have them. im guessing the s3 is just better in every single way. depends what youre after.

Goodbye little iPhone 4, the contract was up so I showed you the door.

Now I love my Xperia S, it accomplishes stuff with greater finesse.

Would go for a 3 Contract if you are going to get a S3 or HTC X as you can get 500mins, unlimited texts, 2000 3 to 3 mins + all you can eat data which is crucial for a smartphone IMO. all that for £35 p/m

lol they are not that bad.

I've dealt with some shit companies and crap call centres in my time but they have been far and away the worst bunch of inept cvnts I've ever paid money to.

The signal coverage was atrocious resulting in me not being able to get online, make calls and have dropped signals as I travelled about. I eventually managed to cancel the contract after spending days trying to make myself understood to Gavin, Oonagh, Sheryl and Barry in Bombay.

They really are fvcking abysmal.
