SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Starts Thursday only really fancy having a bet on Kyle Stanley at 250/1 Who's everyone else fancy?
Ric Flair Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Branden Grace at 125/1 is massive odds for me. He's won 3 times already this season and South African's love a major. Rickie Fowler has played 2 Opens and had a top 10 and then a top 5 last, that was before he learnt how to win as well. My other 2 big bets will be Graham McDowell at 33/1, who will win another major at some point and Matt Kuchar at 66/1. Kuchar fits the profile of the last 2 winners on this course. They were both American who had placed well at Augusta the year they won it and we both around the top ten in the world at the time (Tom Lehman and David Duval were the last two winners) so i'll throw a few quid at him as well. I can't see an Englishmen winning, I would love to be proved wrong. I actually think Ross Fisher at 66/1 is the best value given his recent up turn in form. Westwood and Donald had a hack last year and that must play on their minds along with the fact the wait for a major continues. Poulter knows his onions in majors, especially The Open but he's a bit too skinny in price for me. Justin Rose again at 28/1 can't be touched for me as his only decent Open was when an amatuer aged 17. Paul Casey 500/1? Hahahahaaa, there'll be a few takers at that price. Jesus, what has happened to the lad? Sergio Garcia deserves £10 of my money, whatever form he is in. That'll do me.
Simo86 Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 I've had Fowler to win, and e/w bets on Colsaerts and Curtis
kingfox Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Off to put £5 to win on Westwood and Oosthuizen and a e/w bet on Martin Laird. Westwood's time needs to come sooner or later, good finishes in 2 of the last 3 years. Oosthuizen knows how to win, keeps on improving and is a consistent links golfer. Laird as few on the BBC at the Scottish Open said he may have a chance at the Open, should hit decent rounds this week and could be in with a shot.
Ric Flair Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Andres Romero and Ben Curtis both absolutely love The Open, you can get 200/1 on Betfair for Romero and about 130/1 for Curtis
Bert Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Oosthuizen for me. Just because he annoys me. Done a few others too. Going up Friday night for the last two days. Hoping for decent weather.
ScouseFox Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Not sure who I'm backing yet but if you've had your head in the clouds for the past week or so PaddyPower are paying e/w on 7 places. I'm going Friday and Saturday too. Should be decent.
Guesty Posted 18 July 2012 Posted 18 July 2012 Put a bunch of small e/w bets on - Westwood, McDowell, Harrington, Oosthuizen, Rose, Furyk and Dufner.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 18 July 2012 Author Posted 18 July 2012 My bets Kyle Stanley first round leader 126/1 Kyle Stanley 250/1 ew George Cotzee 125/1 ew Matt Kuchar 60/1 EW. Golfers i also looked at Carl Petterson and Harris English.
skinnydipper Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 The R&A would be spluttering on their Earl Grey upon seeing the title of this thread. Anyway, can't wait for this to start. Lawrie 66/1 Fisher 66/1 Grace 125/1 Rock 150/1 All each way. C'MON Still chewing over whether to stick a small amount on Thorbjorn Oleson
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 July 2012 Author Posted 19 July 2012 Very early days but low scores already look like they will be hard to come by.
Ric Flair Posted 19 July 2012 Posted 19 July 2012 Paul Lawrie going all guns blazing, he knows how to get round on a horror of a course.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 19 July 2012 Author Posted 19 July 2012 Lawrie just dropped, Woods started very well and i like the look of Dufner early.
Leicfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Had a fiver on Brandt Snedeker today @14/1 to recover from yesterdays disaster and regain his form from the 1st 2 days.
kingfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 My bets were a waste. Can't help but think it's between four players today. Scott, McDowell, Woods and Johnson.
Ric Flair Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 McDowell nicely placed for me and Kuchar in the background, hoping for a big day and some dough.
skinnydipper Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Don't like to see a nice bloke like Scott choke but well done Ernie
Trav Le Bleu Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Scott threw it away, but Ernie still had to claw some back. If only McDowell hadn't also dropped so many shots, what could have been.
purpleronnie Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 I could never bet on the golf, seems such a difficult sport to bet on.
marko Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Shame to see a player capitulate, but saying that, I'm quite with my small investment on Ernie Els @40/1
ScouseFox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 I could never bet on the golf, seems such a difficult sport to bet on. Shit loads of money if you call it right though! Scott was matched for hundreds of thousands at 1.02, 1.03 or thereabouts. Some very, very poor people out there now. Some very angry wives probably too!
Simmo86 Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Sweating on Gmac in that final round. Had £5 e/w so a nice little pick up. Pleased for the big easy though
purpleronnie Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 I always feel sorry for sportsmen who lose it so badly, must be devastaing.
