It would for me i'm likely to get my head kicked in. But apart from that if we have no chance under Pearson could someone please explain why the bookies have made us one of the favourites for promotion ?

You can't help but notice the amount of people on here bored / unexcited by the prospect of the season ahead

No more than any other season in the past decade.

Don't think so.

If my memory serves me correct, last pre season was full of massive over optimism and expectation.

Sure, there were a few more unsure, but the feeling on the forum this pre season isn't like it was last.

Every single year we have the I'm not getting a season ticket, I've lost the love of football threads for one reason or another.

Now it's "if we sign/sell him, I'm sending my season ticket back/throwing it away".

Frankly I hope every single one of the miserable bastards do send their season tickets back.

That may be true

There still seems to be an air of dispondency this pre season compared to last. I'm sure many more people would have voted 'top two' for example last year.

Dismiss it if you like but I don't feel the 'buzz' this year like I did last.

Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen.

And when did all of the despondency appear? After a loss in pre season. The same way the despondency would appear after a loss during the season last year.

Probably because we're not on the tv every 15 seconds being linked to Beckham or some other player who would never join us in a million years.

Sure it created a buzz for some people (mostly the ones unable to control their own expectations), but the reality was when the Sven show died off we had a team made up of players mostly from Hibs, Preston, Hudderfield, Portsmouth, Crystal Palace, Man City's injury table, someone most people thought had retired 5 years ago, a play off losing CB, a player who had been a laughing stock at Liverpool and a man who only ever really did it in League one and got sold sharpish after one season.

Why be despondent about a team that showed play off form post Christmas, a team that has got rid of people who barely featured in the squad and has signed some that now probably will. We have all but one of the players that took Saints apart away, the same team that beat Norwich away.... at worst we have the same team that finished in play off form post Christmas. A best we might have added some players that can cure the inconsistency that plagued us so much.

Magic response...

I really can't argue with that....

In all honesty, it really doesn't make any difference surely?

We all had the buzz last year and it didn't do much good.

I think it makes bugger all difference Mark.

I was merely making a comparison.

If anything it's a good thing. It means we'll be happily surprised if Pearson 'pulls it off' (ooops one for 'Big John Steader' there) or there'll be no major shocks if we don't.

As Babs alluded to I think, the whole Sven thing was a load of old bloody tosh anyway.

You know you would be most welcome, diversity of opinion makes for a better debate, hope to see you on the 18th.

Some great points to be fair. Hopefully in the fullness of time they'll justify your optimism too.... and the cynics like me will be wrong....

The great thing is that in a few months we'll know..... sort of!

I was transferring my 1996/97 best season ever for LCFC (in my time) from the official club video onto DVD yesterday and I thought to myself "we're never going to see the likes of this season again". Pre season favourites for the drop and we finished 9th in the then Premiership and won the League Cup. It was a good time to be a season ticket holder back then at Filbert Street! The buzz and anticipation of the season ahead, 15 years on, has sadly long since evaporated! I appreciate the top teams in the Prem. have improved significantly since 1997 and got a lot richer since then too but even so to go to Old Trafford, Anfield, White Hart Lane et al and win (or at worst draw in the O'Neill years) will possibly never happen again. Harbinger of doom perhaps and I hope I'm wrong but it seems unlikely we'll ever replicate those special four years again now, Thais or no Thais backing!! The thing was back then, we did it on a budget into the bargain!

Last season was genuinely a bigger buzz killer for me than any season I've ever had watching us, seriously even 2007/08 got me more excited for the following year because we could start afresh, last year was just plain depressing and for the first time following us I actually was happy pre-season had arrived.

And truth be told since April I've had very little interest, well that's not true, but I've not been seriously looking forward to it as much as I was.

But I don't know, I am now to be honest. lol The break has gone (almost) and there's only 3 weeks left (less than), and I'll admit the buzz is getting bigger and I can't wait for the friendly at Burton on Wednesday, it's been too long without a game.

So aye, there's no real point to this post lol I just guess I didn't miss the football due to last season but I've got a lot more hope that we'll do better this time round, my buzz is finally picking back up.

You know what, I enjoyed watching Sven's team in 2010/11, quick, flowing football and scoring plenty of goals.

Yet all of a sudden he changed, the style changed and we became what you are accusing Pearson of being. Pearson didn't take the entertaining Sven team to this style, Sven himself did it.

Exactly this. This is the main reason Sven had to go, the fact it was almost like the more he spent, the more he took us backwards.

What I like about Pearson is that I can see a logic behind pretty much everything he does, unlike with Sven.

I wouldn't even say I'm optimistic, I've got no blind faith in these people even though I may defend them.

I certainly don't think there is any reason to throw in the towel though like some seem to have already. There is plenty to be positive about and I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out... Be it good or bad.

Flowwolf why would you get your head kicked in for having an opinion ? :D get in there for a beer & remember the greatest thing about the beautiful game is the passion and opinions it creates, always the manly thing to do in any differing opinion is agree to disagree. COYB :pearson:

1964 fox and tinty glasses thank you very much for the invite but I fear I have upset too many posters with what I can only describe as my forthright opinions. I know I come across as aggressive, but I'm not really I just enjoy a good debate and enjoy taking the wee and having the wee taken out of me. But thanks anyway lads.

Difference is on here we can argue, dislike each other but in real life on match day we all share the same desire and are as oe against the others. Your choice of course but your always welcome, as is anyone, to talk Leicester with a beer or two pre match.

Babs has always seemed optimistic about managers - even when Rob Kelly was here! lol

I've been hoping he was right for years!
