stix Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Bear in mind though that unpaid debts can affect your credit rating It isn't an unpaid debt though. It is simply an invoice suggesting that he/she has breached a 'contract' which they entered into when parking their car in said car park. Ignore it. Then ignore the following letters aswell. If it is a council ran car park then just pay it. Seems abit steep for council though.

yorkie1999 Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 I got one of these at Silverstone last year at the track parking but because it was a private company they can't legally fine you, just make you think they can by saying you've broken a contract. I just ignored it and haven't heard anything since.
mitch_lcfc_1993 Posted 3 September 2012 Author Posted 3 September 2012 It is a private company called G24, they have put 2 pictures on the invoice, one of me driving in, and one of me driving out. It would be silly to say I wasn't driving, as they clearly have CCTV. I'm undecided what to do, it sounds like I shouldn't pay it, but if I do not, and then it goes on to affect my credit rating, then I've basically ballsed it up. As a Business student at uni, chances are one day I'll need a good credit report in order to get a loan to set up a business, so is it worth the risk?
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Like most people, I have seen alot of these Tv progs about debt collection agencies where people have original parking ticket debts of £100 or less, after months of chasing you these debts can go through the roof, You don't know what the signs are like where you parked, and you carn't really go back and check, also they almost certinly will have cctv. Save yourself months of stress and worry and most probably a lot more money and just pay it, Don't let it become a lingering nightmare. Swallow it, and get it paid. If my memory serves me rightly, what the Council asked me (just my personal experience) was: We're the signs clear and legible?... Yes We're they obviously located?..... Yes Was there CCTV?....... Yes Was it clear what the amount of fine would be if I parked there.. Yes What I asked them: Was it a bona fide private firm,... Yes Had other prople contacted the Council... Yes Basically they advised me I would most probably lose if the case went to Court and, in their opinion, pay the 60.00 they were demanding. This would have increased to more if not paid within 14 days, i think, which the Council also said they were in their right to do. All depends if you want to pay up and get it done. Or Fight it and live with what comes... Weighing up the professional advice I had, I went for the former. Expensive trip to the bookies that was...

It will only affect your credit rating if it does actually get to court, you are fined by the court, and you refuse to pay THAT fine. Chances of that are super slim though really. Honestly, ignore it. They will send you at least one other letter( more likely another 10 )stating the same thing as the one you currently have before you get dragged up to the courts!!!

In this case, I would just ignore the whole thing as it's very likely they'll just drop the whole thing
Libertine Dream Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Don't pay it, look on the internet and you'll see majority of people saying don't pay it. Don't respond unless they send through the court papers, which is highly unlikely. Even then I'm sure they'll accept a slightly inflated payment.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 My mate got a ticket from a company when parking in that housing estate next to the boating lake. Burnt the ticket and heard nothin sincer
Vlad the Fox Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Don't pay it, as the parking ticket you've received sounds like it has nothing to do with a council or government and therefore they can't punish you for not paying. If you check the parking ticket, I'm pretty confident that it will be an invoice rather than a fine. That is what I got when I received a fine for parking in a Morrisons car park for too long. I didn't pay it and didn't hear anything from them. This. Just ignore it and dont contact them. It's nothing more than a speculative invoice. You may get letters threatening court action but nothing will come of it. In the end it will just disappear.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 If you go to the office where they issued the fine, ask for the person who sent the letter, go to them and before they can say hello slap them round the face really hard and shout "THAT'S A SPICY MEAT-A-BALL" right in their face, they clear the debt AND let you walk out without calling the police. I know because I've done it
ADK Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 From what i can gather you should be fine with not paying. Does their cctv image show clearly who was driving? If not then they have no proof of who was driving. Either way its not a criminal matter, unless a court orders you to pay which is very unlikely then you are not legally bound to pay. I would just ignore it. Make sure not to respond to them though.
kylestyle06 Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 It doesn't matter if they have CCTV of you entering the car park, eating in your car, banging your missus on the bonnet... DON'T PAY IT. DON'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE TELLING YOU TO PAY IT, DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, FORGET YOU GOT IT. You WILL get letters saying you owe £xxx, you'll then get letters saying you owe £xxx.00, and then after that, they'll reduce the whole lot to £30 if you pay within another 30 days. Make a collection of the letters, even make a collage out of the letters, just DON'T pay it, and DON'T worry. Infact, pass the "DEBT", onto me if you want, i'll charge you £20.00 so it's even cheaper than the "INVOICE". DO NOT PAY!!! And if you want any more information and are going to lose sleep over it, sign up to this forum: http://forums.pepipoo.com/ And read people in your situatuion who are thinking the same. Close thread.
Out Foxed Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 don't pay. i got one in Jan. they must have sent me 25 letters since then, each time more "threatening". haven't had one for about a month. i'm told they write off the "debt" after about that period of time.
savillefoxes Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Wait until you get a letter from the dept collection agency ring them tell them you dont have a job a cant pay it ,then offer them a pound a week until you can find a job.
Brown Fox Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Another company will track you down for the outstanding money. the point about it being an invoice & not a fine is a valid one Best way to deal with debt collectors is by saying this, I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you void this parking ticket, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Guest bss9401 Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Don't pay as it is a civil notice. I have had several over the years and bin them. It is a scam that affects millions as they are always changing the rules and being good old England, many folk just pay to avoid hassle. You will get all sorts of letters from agents who buy the debt but they won't carry out the threats or take anyone to court. As the previous reply suggests; do not contact them for any reason.
red5 Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Send it to the club and see if they will pay it, Or do what we should do with Beckford and bin it.
fox ache Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 Dont get in touch with them at all, make no contact whatsoever. I had a ticket 2 years ago, went to watch Leicester in a midweek match & parked in a pub. When i returned, i had received a ticket stating `unauthorised parking-£95 to be paid within 14 days`. I also read M.S.E who said ignore them, however threatening they become. I received 4 letters in the space of 6 weeks, from debt collectors to solicitors.................And then nothing. Basically, if they took you to court, they would have to justify how they could demand such a huge fine. You will definitley not goto court, because unfortunatley, you will probably be just one person in every 10 that doesnt pay........And they will be more than happy receiving money from the other 9..... TRUST ME

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 September 2012 Posted 4 September 2012 If it doesn't state the word "Police" on it it will be a private enforcement. When I was with Thames Valley Police, there were some retail parks we could enforce ( Council owned Land ), and some we could not, if the car park was privately owned. The amount of the fine, indicates a private parking area, in which case you were lucky not to get clamped. In my area this would have cost you some £250.
