Guest Col city fan Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 The forum tonight seems to contain a lot of anger. Certain players, previously pretty well thought of are now being questioned. The usual suspects are crying out for a change of manager. Some even appear to be back on the 'we should have kept Sven' track. We are 16th in the table, having lost all of our away games. Nugent hasn't hit the net for 11 games. Etc..... Is it all over-reaction? Is Pearson playing his 'favourites'? What now for Beckford? Will it all come good? Are we still expecting too much? Where do we go from here people? I'll start by saying I'm not surprised we are where we are. I simply think we don't have a particularly good squad. However, I also think we will win the next two games. I would certainly play Knocky from the start and stop the flat 4-4-2 away from home. Opinions please....
foxes2011 Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 i just hope we dont go sacking the manager again we need to stick with this one
Spiritwalker Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Mid table beckons unless we can sort out our defensive fragilities.
Happy Fox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Why cannot we sack NP?, of course their are no guarantees the new man in charge can get this team producing the goods, but I would hazard a guess that a half decent manager could get the best out of these players or albeit play the best team we have imo, but I have seen enough from NP to warrant the fact that we won't get promotion with him in charge from this division but that is my opinion.
Matt Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 I don't know, i'm just so angry and frustrated, something I thought i'd grew out of, i've not had those feelings for a good few season. I am questioning myself as to if I want to carry on going to games tbh (I've been doing that a for a season or so though). I'll be carrying on for this season, after than, we'll see. I can't really think straight as to where we go next, my blame is with the players mainly the strikers and defence, not the management. Simple fact is yes on a whole we are playing well (Well maybe not so today) but that's not good enough, need to tighten the defence and be more clinical upfront and take the chances, i'm sick of saying that after almost every game this season and am going to go mad if I say it much more. Worrying thing is, is we only won the Blackpool game due to a penalty that on another day a referee wouldn't have gave and if we didn't get that penalty we wouldn't have won the game because we were never scoring of our own backs in that game. Very angry, frustrated and disgruntled.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Is it all over-reaction? Yes Is Pearson playing his 'favourites'? No, he's playing players he thinks are rubbish. What now for Beckford? A cup of tea and a Wotsit sandwich. Will it all come good? Define "good". Are we still expecting too much? I'm not. Where do we go from here people? Seriously? We make a few minor tweeks, we don't knee-jerk (again) and team play to their strengths and we move up the league.
MooseBreath Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Where next? One step forward. Then, one step back. Then, one step forward. Then one step back. We are mid table, and will continue to be mid table while Pearson remains. He said he thought expecting to get promoted constitutes delusions of grandeur. Mid table to him is success. We have mid table players and a mid table manager. We are the most mid table team in the history of football. Where do we go from here? Nowhere, we're going nowhere. We'll have some good results, some bad, some exciting performances, some drab, but the end result will be soul sapping mediocrity. And some fans will call it a success. I despair. And I imagine so to do the owners.

Where do we go? Lets see where we are at Christmas, 5 games is way too early.
Corky Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Is it all over-reaction? Is Pearson playing his 'favourites'? What now for Beckford? Will it all come good? Are we still expecting too much? You get some wanting him out, and in fairness to those they have said it for a while. Most comments I've seen today have looked at the game as a whole rather than just ranting. Seen a lot of rational posts on here today. His "favourites" seem to change quite a bit. He dropped King at the start of the season, Gallagher hasn't had a look in, Waghorn doesn't start games. He picks the players most want in Schmeichel, Morgan, Nugent, Marshall. Dyer is the only "favourite" of the original set that plays from the start every week. I don't know. I find it strange that we kept him and then don't use him. If it happens again it would appear that he's not going to get much game time with us. Who knows? I think we'll remain strong at home, but away is where we'll be defined. It has to change from the next match. We've spent a fair bit of money and are paying good money to players. We have the resources so I don't think the main expection of a top six finish is too high.

However, I also think we will win the next two games. Opinions please.... We made a huge mistake - i still think the people running the club are clueless - until that changes it makes little difference - we are fast becoming the new Coventry. As someone said, the irrational fear of the Fair Play twaddle has seemingly meant we have to sell or offload anyone who is on more than pocket money a week and has gutted us of any seeming quality. We still lack a Walsh/Elliot/Lennon type player in the team - Wes is OK but he has it all to do concentrating on his own game it seems - no one else comes close to having a personality. As we sink into obscurity the level of player we can attract will decline - how many clubs did we beat off for Vardy - sadly not many good ones, and so it will continue. The new City fans (and Babylon) seem afraid of a bit of a gamble, preferring to be 'safe' but we look like relegation fodder to me at the moment - too good to go down I think they call it - and losing becomes a habit - I say we need 6 points from the next 9 to have any chance of not needing a miracle come December - lose to Burnley and I think 5 defeats in 6 is sacking form. In no way can that be called Sven's team today so why is 6 points from 5 better than the 7 we had from 5 (and still in the cup) at this stage last year??? Bruce has managed to get things going at Hull far more than Nige did there last year - are we persisting with an also ran - I hope not if we are going to stick with him but the signs three seasons running are not good
Happy Fox Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 We are too inconsistent win one loose one etc, how do we get rid of inconsistency maybe Top can bribe the opposition team to stick in a few own goals...

davieG Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 I went on Youtube to find the intro to the long forgotten comedy called Soap which I thought would be appropriate for this thread but found this instead Brazilian soap soccer.

Would rather 10k fans giving their all, than 32,000 whinging and moaning like spoilt brats. Where do we go? Lets see where we are at Christmas, 5 games is way too early. 1) I support the team throughout the 90 minutes, like you say I hate a negative atmosphere, however being angry, upset and frustrated doesn't make me negative - Just means i'm not papering over the cracks and pretending everything isn't fine and rosy, it's called being a realist. 2) Since when do we get 32,000? we are fast becoming the new Coventry. I said this and feared this end of last season, if things don't improve, quick, we may go down that path, not quite as bad I don't think or hope but like the posted above that i've quoted, he'd prefer 10,000 turning up? Ok - Don't think that'll help anything though, would only spell more disaster and problems.
Guest Col city fan Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Davie G.. I must admit I thought about Soap as I wrote the OP. I can stil think of the signature tune...
foxesfan1989 Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Is it all over-reaction? Probably, but then again most things football usually are. There is certainly a call for some Qs to be answered Is Pearson playing his 'favourites'? He is playing who he thinks is best to win a match, he wants us to win just as much as we do. What now for Beckford? Too much focus on him. He will get his chance again, wouldn't be shocked to see him start mid-week Will it all come good? It never quite did under Sven, I imagine Nigel wont have much longer to make sure it does come good. Are we still expecting too much? I think the fact we have a big fan base, a lot of money, a cracking stadium and a good squad all means we should expect promotion, so no. Where do we go from here people? To the King Power as often as possible to get behind the team, moaning is fine but at least suspend it once a week for 90mins.
LJS Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 If I knew the answer to the question I'd have more influence than I do now. It's difficult. My preference would for us to stick with a manager for a good two or three seasons, allowing him the time to build a squad capable of winning promotion. But within that period there would have to be clear signs of improvement on the pitch; otherwise we'd be sticking with a bloke for the sake of it. Given that, the question to ask is whether or not we have the right manager for the job. Is Nigel Pearson capable of winning promotion with us. He has no track record of promotion from this division, so based on his history the answer to that question has to be no. Do I feel, honestly, that if given two more years from now Pearson would have us promoted? I really don't think so. I don't see us being anything other than a side floating around the top ten with him in charge. It's a shame, really, because I like the bloke. But I don't want to support a club which accepts mediocrity. We're never going to be Manchester United, but we certainly shouldn't be putting up with being a middling second tier side.

Libertine Dream Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 Theres too much panic on here. Sometimes you have to give it time to come together on a consistent basis. The potential is there but the defence isn'tyet an organised unit and the attack isn't yet a cohesive goalscoring machine. It took Reading 8 games to start to click into place. I'm a bit concerned that we lack a physical presence in midfield and I believe we can't afford to lose again before the international break but I'm not extremely worried just yet
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 16 September 2012 Posted 16 September 2012 IMO The next two games are going to be very important to NP !!!!
