cc_star Posted 1 November 2012 Posted 1 November 2012 Personally I'd have Danns training with first team Apparently they do, but then in the pre-match training & preparation they break into an 18 & the others obviously join in with the development team. I don't know this for myself though, it's just what some of the stalkers say
cc_star Posted 1 November 2012 Posted 1 November 2012 Danns and Gally aren't bad back up, I just worry that they won't be very motivated. Gallagher is the pits in away games at the best of times. I think we need to look at the loan market as we've a very tough month ahead of us, there's no easy games. No, they're not bad even if they fall short of where we're at now. With the motivation issue, they're putting themselves in front of the manager, what better way to shine than to do well... I do worry about motivation from a support point of view though... I wouldn't put it past some of the morons who had a sniff of shandy to give Gally some stick - when really when they're warming up on the touchline they should feel the benefit of support As for tough month... they all are, it's an unbelievable division this year... if only we'd have had this management & the close knit team they've moulded the past couple of seasons when there was only a handful of good teams in it.
hackneyfox Posted 1 November 2012 Posted 1 November 2012 Maybe so, but ball retention is essential and it's something he does well. By the time he's had his 3 touches everyone is closed down, our ball retention has been better this year due to pace, something that Wellens seems sap from the midfield. Not that worried as I don't expect he or Gallagher will play that often we have a better squad now.
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 1 November 2012 Posted 1 November 2012 Why? I keep hearing this, but I've not heard a single reason why he's better than King, Drinkwater or James. Danns' defenders seem to be clamouring to find some reason why he isn't in the side and no-one seems prepared to accept that it might simply be down to ability. There's no conspiracy, there's no fall-out, there's no controversy - Neil Danns just isn't as good a footballer as Andy King, Danny Drinkwater or Matty James. That is why he's not in the side, and that's it. He doesn't fit into our new system which relies heavily on being able to pass the ball accurately and retaining posession of the ball. These are the two weakest parts of Danns' game and that is the reason why he will not feature ahead of three players who are superior to him terms of passing and posession. Please somebody, if I'm wrong please tell me why - I really want to hear what Danns would bring to this team and how he would fit into our current system, because I can't see it at all. And the wages thing is a load of rubbish too - it's no coincidence that the shit Sven signings have been bombed out and the talented ones who have applied themselves - Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky, St Ledger - are still here and playing an important role. Of course it would be nice to get massive earners off the books, but only the ones who aren't performing to the level their wages demand. There would be uproar if we sold Nugent, Kasper, Konchesky and St Ledger in the name of clearing out big earners. Agree with you fully there mate, I don't mind Danns but he's not as good as people make out and hasn't exactly sparked since he's worn the shirt, will give him another chance though he isn't a bad player but I agree we so have better players in terms of keeping the ball
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 And if he comes on he will look good as he is now playing on a better side
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 And if he comes on he will look good as he is now playing on a better side Why do you keep banging your head after posts? It's a little wierd?
FoxLAD Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Lets hope if he gets a chance, he fvcking takes it this time and not play gash like he has in his last 2 appearances. Hopefully we can be 3-0 up on 70 minutes and give the likes of Danns, Gallagher, Schlupp, Futacs a run out (I know only 3 of the 4 possibly could). didnt Gallagher do well a sheff utd aswell? i supose its a good idea to give these players a chance before jan, then if they are not up to it... sell them on!!

Harry - LCFC Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Great news! He had a great run of games in March I think, perhaps he'll be able to play like that more often in this team? Plus he's very different from the other three CMs - older, a bit tougher, nicer hair...
Corky Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 And if he comes on he will look good as he is now playing on a better side I hope you are right.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 If Danns comes on we want the Danns who played so well at Derby, and at Chelsea and Brighton (yes he got sent off but worked tirelessly that day) He can only be an asset if he plays like that.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Gonna be controversial.. I'd start him on Saturday.

Harry - LCFC Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Gonna be controversial.. I'd start him on Saturday. I'd have him on as a sub, popular guy (generally) and would be good to show everyone he is going to play this season. I thought his time here was over, so pleased he's back!
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 I have a feeling the pace of this game is gonna be really quick. They are gonna come at us right from the off. This might not be the type of game Kingy will excel in whilst we are on the back foot. I think I'd start with Danns, let them burn out and get King on just after half time.
indierich06 Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 I hope he proves me emphatically wrong or emphatically right, in which case he'll either show he's a bloody good player and I've just not seen it over the past year, or he'll prove that he's crap and people will stop clamouring for him to get back in the side and lay off our current midfield. My money's on him either making a mistake which leads to a goal, or getting sent off.

King is good when we are on the back foot though, his defensive skills are often so critical when being pressurised. Though we shouldn't fear Watford.

It all depends on how he has been responding to the training, our footballing philosophy has changed a lot in a relatively short space of time, if Danns has managed to adapt, and can maintain shape and discipline (and possession) with out losing his high energy game and driving forwards with the ball, then he could very well be a success in this side, but he needs to work on those areas he lacked in, maybe that is why he hasn't been out on loan as NP wants to coach him how to play the Foxes way.

If he could just learn to complete simple passes and not lose posession of the ball he would be an infinitely better player.

Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Danns perplexes me. He joined from Palace where, I'm sure he was considered one of their better players. Then Sven... And everything that went with it... Playing out of position, no width, no real zeal for success. The Danns I saw play against Derby last season was sensational. He literally ran the game. He can't be a bad player... Surely not? Getting him back to some of the form he showed last season, playing in a better team than last season makes me not lose hope in him. I think he could come into this team, in certain matches, and shine. I'm convinced he could. But he has to be given match time to make his mark in the team. And I don't think he'll get it. I think it's nonsense for people on the forum to simply dismiss him because he's not playing. He's not a bad player.

He reminds me of the Energiser Bunny Col, hopefully he was overtrying and compensating in a very disjointed side. The poor distribution and rash challenges do worry me but if it's down to the aforementioned and he performs well, like the best of him we saw, then all the better for our team.
