Why? I keep hearing this, but I've not heard a single reason why he's better than King, Drinkwater or James. Danns' defenders seem to be clamouring to find some reason why he isn't in the side and no-one seems prepared to accept that it might simply be down to ability. There's no conspiracy, there's no fall-out, there's no controversy - Neil Danns just isn't as good a footballer as Andy King, Danny Drinkwater or Matty James. That is why he's not in the side, and that's it. He doesn't fit into our new system which relies heavily on being able to pass the ball accurately and retaining posession of the ball. These are the two weakest parts of Danns' game and that is the reason why he will not feature ahead of three players who are superior to him terms of passing and posession.

Please somebody, if I'm wrong please tell me why - I really want to hear what Danns would bring to this team and how he would fit into our current system, because I can't see it at all.

And the wages thing is a load of rubbish too - it's no coincidence that the shit Sven signings have been bombed out and the talented ones who have applied themselves - Schmeichel, Nugent, Konchesky, St Ledger - are still here and playing an important role. Of course it would be nice to get massive earners off the books, but only the ones who aren't performing to the level their wages demand. There would be uproar if we sold Nugent, Kasper, Konchesky and St Ledger in the name of clearing out big earners.

As usual the point is becoming completely polarised into:

A. Danns is world class and should walk into Barca's side

B. Danns is not fit for the Red Lion reserves

We're second in the table and you can't argue with that - my only surprise is that he doesn't make the bench.... maybe not even every week .... but I think it's strange he's not on it for some games at least.

Not for me, I just think that the two starting players are better than him and that James is a better option from the bench and I think it would be a waste of a spot on the bench to have two CMs on there. Simple as that. It's not about how good Danns is, its about the fact that the players ahead of him are better, in our manager's eyes.

That's easy he runs around a lot, kicks people and has scored a couple of goals which in some people's eyes makes him great.

I don't see that. I doubt Nugent, Konchesky and Schmeichel are earning a pittance compared to those who have gone/ not been selected.

That's where the "couldn't give a shit" part is important. Nuge, Konch, Schmeichel - like the rest of our current 1st team squad - are clearly playing to their best, because they want to win. (Edit: just seen that Gally is in the squad. Possible change to "like MOST of our current 1st team squad...")

The ones who couldn't give a shit have either gone or are clearly going at the next opportunity. Happy days

Danns and Gally aren't bad back up, I just worry that they won't be very motivated. Gallagher is the pits in away games at the best of times. I think we need to look at the loan market as we've a very tough month ahead of us, there's no easy games.

I think both of them are good players and as you say good back up choice. The only problem with them is consistency, Gally is the worst for it.

Lets hope he's a super sub!

Lets hope if he gets a chance, he fvcking takes it this time and not play gash like he has in his last 2 appearances.

Hopefully we can be 3-0 up on 70 minutes and give the likes of Danns, Gallagher, Schlupp, Futacs a run out (I know only 3 of the 4 possibly could).
