You need to remember that that's exactly what is though, an act. It's all carefully contrived to get the public well on side considering he was born with a silver tea set in his mouth as opposed to the spoon. He's an Old Etonian Oxbridge educated offspring of a highly influential family. He's intelligent enough to know this could be used against him, so he has carefully cultivated a loveable image that the public has well and truly latched onto.
