Gadgets we can't live without.

Gadget Show Live Christmas, which takes place in London from November 30 to December 2, surveyed 1,000 consumers about their favourite technology.Asked about the gadgets that had been in their home the longest, the digital alarm clock, toasted sandwich makers and pocket calculators came out on top. They were followed by the original Nintendo Game Boy, electric carving knives, pop-up toasters and bread makers.

And in a nod to times gone by, the list is completed by the digital watch, VCR and record player.

Asked about the gadgets they can’t live without, the smartphone and broadband is followed by the colour television, laptop, tablet computer and games console.

Internet of phones. Up until I upgraded me phone a year ago I had a nokia something or other and always wondered why anyone would need internet on their phone. Now I couldn't live without it.

The Internet is definetly one of the wonder's of the World, and is one of the greatest inventions/achievements ever. Being 20 years old, my generation was generally brought up with it. Can't imagine a World without it, really.

Mental to think of a world without the internet now. Think we completely take it for granted - it's pretty amazing really!

Also, motorized transport. And running water.

Our broadband was down for about a week at home. Couldn't wait to get to work to see what was going on in the (real) world

We should all wear one of these at a night game.

lol Yes I'd be up for it. It'd be original, and beats those curly wigs that's for sure.

That said, looking at my avatar, we could maybe bin the wigs and go for the curlers instead. Might do a poll for the next home game - Headlamps or Curlers.

Digital watches are still in use? I thought pretty much everyone had gone back to analogue.

Gotta agree with the internet though, having access to reports of everything that happens in the world within seconds of it happening is a lot more impressive than we give it credit for, I can't imagine the days where phone lines and telegrams/postal mail was how news travelled, seems ridiculously slow compared to this.

I had a hunch you lived off-the-grid in a cave somewhere.

:D Not sure if that's regarding the conspiracy stuff or a clever dig about religion!

Are analogue watches the silver and gold Accurist type? Mine's a boster. It's not a Rolex though.

Can't imagine someone having a digital watch nowadays. Thought they were just a teenage thing in the 80's and 90's!

Analogue are proper clock face style, hands and ticking - all that shit. Far cooler than digital.

Might post a picture of my analogue later. It's well smart and I can do a humblebrag. "Look at that smart watch. But look at the pasty forearm. Not been abroad this year."

I use analogue for day to day use, as I'm an adult, but digital for when I am training myself or clients as I use an accurate stopwatch and have large numbers that are easy to see in motion.

lol

yeah its a bástard to read the numbers when your wrist is going to town.

Surely popping it on the opposite wrist would be the simpler solution? Unless you're needing a bit of extra power then I can't see that both hands/wrists are needed.

I'm amazed digital alarm clocks are number one on the list of old gadgets still used, unless it means used but not for their original purpose. I hardly know anyone that's using them as an alarm clock any more, most people use there phones for that. I use the digital alarm clock as a clock, nothing else.
