davieG Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Hart in Hampshire has been named the UK's most desirable place to live for quality of life for the second year running. The study by the Halifax bank took into account factors such as jobs, housing, health, life expectancy, crime, weather, traffic and house prices. Dr The Singh Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 I see Belgrave Road in Leicester isn't on there, nor Braunstone
marbelladave Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Popped into Richmond (on Thames) late yesterday afternoon for a few bits of late Xmas shopping. Then into The Ship (proper Pub) for a couple of pints of Youngs Special and a nice meal, (not in the pub). Nice place with decent shops, plenty of good bars, real pubs and restaurants and absolutely dripping with posh totty of just about all ages. Used to spend a lot of time there when I was younger....... :xmaswink:
Webbo Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 I see Belgrave Road in Leicester isn't on there, nor Braunstone It's gone downhill since we moved.

MikeyT Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Syston isn't that bad, better than it used to be. It seems nowhere barely above London is mentioned either. So basically we all need to live down South then?
davieG Posted 22 December 2012 Author Posted 22 December 2012 It seems nowhere barely above London is mentioned either. So basically we all need to live down South then? I get the distinct impression that is where successive governments have spent the most on infrastructure, true it's highly populated but the more they spend improving infrastructure there at the expense of the midlands and the north the more people will move there and the more they'll need to spend to maintain the standards they've set.
z-layrex Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Living in Surrey and Sussex my whole lofe, when I go up to the midlands or north everything does seem more 'run-down' and bleak. Sorry to say.
BunkMoreland Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Be successful in London and you're probably pretty well off. Move to one of these areas which are too expensive and a little too far from central London for the riff raff. Be surrounded by other well to do folk. Enough money and demand floating around for some nice local businesses to thrive. Still maintain good links to London if needed. All makes a good recipe for a nice place to live.
Dan Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Am I right in saying all 15 are in the south? Jesus.
MikeyT Posted 22 December 2012 Posted 22 December 2012 Am I right in saying all 15 are in the south? Jesus. Pretty much, yes.
